Chapter 5 - Ch.5 First job

One morning of the year X771, the master came to the guildhall and called upon Jax, who was currently reading.

That one morning, while he was lazing around in the guild with a book since Laxus had gone on a job, the master called him to his office. Nodding his head to the master, Jax finished his page before leaving the book on a table and making his way to his office.

When he walked through the door, Jax directly asked: "Master, you wanted to see me?"

The master lifting his head, smiled at Jax before answering: "Yes. I was wondering how your training is going?"

"For weapons, I can use pretty much everything. As for my magic, I have reached a level where I am quite proficient, and I can beat Laxus most of the time." Jax answered with a proud and happy smile.

"I see. Even though we don't know when your birthday is as there are no records, I decided that this would be a good time for you to start taking jobs. What do you think? I know you have been bored in the guild these days." Makarov said while showing a paper he signed which approved of him taking jobs.

"Really? That's great! Then I'll go right now!" Jax said while getting up and running towards the door. He was extremely tired of always having to stay in the guild and having nothing to do except read when Laxus was working.

Moreover, he had been hearing about jobs for two years, and he really couldn't wait to work himself. He wanted to adventure the world and complete various tasks. As for the pearls necessary for his breakthrough? Nothing. After all, he hadn't left the Magnolia yet, and he hadn't found a single magic pearl yet.

As he was walking out of the door while thinking about all of this, he vaguely heard the master said: "Don't forget to register your job before you leave!"

Jax was making his way rapidly towards the request board. He saw Gildarts making his way out of the guild. He had been staying in the guild for the last week, but it seemed he had just taken a job as well, and he was leaving after drinking for the past week.

Usually, he would have started to talk a little with Gildarts to ease his boredom, but this time, he went directly to the request board while saying good morning at the same time. After all, he couldn't wait to become a real wizard!

Finally, in front of the request board was the ever-lurking Nab. In the two years he had been in the guild, he had seldom seen Nab take a job. Once, he had asked him the reason for never taking work to satisfy his curiosity. Nab had told him that he was looking for a job that only he could do. In Jax's opinion, Nab wanted to feel special, which was why he had been waiting for a job specifically for him.

Since the time he had asked this question, which was a year ago, he had seen him go on two jobs, and he had abandoned one, saying it wasn't challenging enough.

Looking at the various requests, Jax decided to take a job that didn't take him too far since it was his first job. The master had only allowed him to take D and E rank jobs for the moment since he was still new at this.

As he was looking at the E-class jobs, he frowned, quite disappointed in those jobs. They were small jobs about being a waiter, finding a lost animal or cleaning the streets. While some wizards would be happy with these jobs, he wanted something a little more challenging and exciting, something which would help him improve himself. After all, he hadn't trained his magic so much just to find a lost animal. He wanted to become stronger, and he knew that he would have to challenge himself for this.

Looking at the D class jobs, he found three which could be taken by him. However, only one of those jobs was in Magnolia.

[My violin.

Mission level: D-rank.

Requirements: None.

Location: Magnolia.

Type of mission: Item retrieval.

Details: A resident of Magnolia Town has recently reported that a group of Bandits have stolen her highly cherished Violin. The Bandits have reportedly set up a camp within the surrounding forests, and the soldiers' attempts to retrieve the instrument have met failure. Joanna has requested to recover her Violin without any damage. Also, she has asked that these Bandits be dealt with once and for all, as they have been causing Magnolia Town trouble for a long time.

Reward: 75,000 Jewels.

Requester: Joanna Leslie.]

He was seeing this job, which seemed to be perfect for his current requirements. The requester had posted the task for less than a day on the job request board, Jax felt it was an excellent first job.

Immediately taking the job from the request board, he went to the master sitting on the counter and gave him the job request he had decided to take. While the job rank was only D, it would be a great first job, and there wouldn't be much danger. Not to mention the reward of the job, which was relatively high for such an easy job.

"Master, I'll take this job first. It's in Magnolia, so I'll be back later. Bye!" He said as he turned around and left the guild as fast as he could.

From what he had learned from the mages of the guild, the first thing a mage had to do once one started a job was to go and meet the client to get additional information such as a picture or at least a description of the violin and to learn how many bandits there were.

Having learned the address of the studio, Jax immediately made his way to her studio. It didn't take long, only half an hour, and he arrived in front of her studio. With the help of his air magic, the silver-haired boy accelerated slightly. He couldn't wait to find a pearl for the air magic since he believed that with enough power, he should be able to fly in the air.

As he arrived at the studio, he saw a large building. Three-story high entirely made of white stone, and white tiles made the roof he could see from far away. It wasn't hard to find the studio as it distinguished itself from the other buildings all around it.

Walking to the door, he knocked on the door and waited for a few seconds before a tall and slim lady in her twenties opened the door. She had blonde hair, which was cut a little under her shoulder, and she wore a pair of green glasses and a green coat that covered her whole body. Her green eyes fitted well with her dress and glasses.

As she saw Jax at the door, she looked down at him and asked with a beautiful smile and one hand on her waist: "Hi little guy, what can I do for you?"
