Hi guys thank-you for sticking around hope you enjoy this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it.
My eyes started to open and I saw a white light, I had read somewhere that when we die we see a white light and in the white light we see a loved one who comes to help us on our journey, so I wasn't surprised to see no one standing in the light.
I opened my eyes fully now to see that the light I had seen was a celling light, I was alive, and in a room, a room that didn't belong to me, the walls were blue, the carpet was red and the sheets on the bed were also blue. I think it was safe to say I was in a man's room, but in the asylum all the bedroom walls were grey, no one had blue walls, or bedding so where was I? I gasped I had been kidnapped, I sat up and took off my blanket, looking down at my attire I was happy to see I was still in the asylum gown I, now, took the blanket off completely and swung my feet out of bed I stood up and winced in pain as my foot was painful, I then remembered I had fallen at the asylum trying to get away from the smoke. My foot was wrapped in a bandage, very neatly I might add, seemed it was done by a professesional, (get it, a professional, you know a nurse, maybe a doctor) I looked around to see two doors one, I assumed, led out of this room, and the other might be the bathroom, there was also a wardrobe, and a desk, I opened one door
"Oh wow" I said out loud this door didn't lead out of the room, nor did it lead to the bathroom, it actually led to a swimming pool, no don't read that again you read right it was a swimming pool I smiled. I shut the door and walked towards the other door, I opened it hoping not to see a zoo or something but thankfully it was the hallway, the balcony in front of me was metal, the floor was also metal, like a metal cage the stairs were to my right and that's where I went, down the stairs I was in a room there was a sofa on the far wall there was also a double door with a railing on either side and two steps leading down to it. In the middle of the room, hanging from the celling was something that resembled a big ball it had many buttons on it and a small screen, it looked like an old fashioned t.v built into the ball. Under the ball was something that resembled a round table it had many buttons and levers, and there was a man standing there wearing a blue suit, I could see the back of this man, he had brown hair he was wearing white shoes
"Um, excuse me? Where am I?" I asked in a small voice, I didn't think he had heard me, but to my surprise he turned around and I gasped it couldn't be, it was the man from my dreams, it was the doctor
"You're awake, hello" he greeted as he put his hands in his pocket, I took two steps back, the man stopped smiling "no, no, no, don't be afraid, I won't hurt you, I'm the doctor" he told me,
"No" I whispered, I was still asleep, I sat down on the stairs that were directly behind me.
"I'm the doctor, who are you?" he asked
"You already know who I am" I answered, my head was hurting I held my head in my hands "where are we?" I asked changing my question as I knew exactly where I was
"This is ..... where I live" he answered looking around above our heads I nodded
"it looks familiar to me" I shrugged
"really?"
"it looks like something from a dream" when I said this he just laughed a little giving me a questioning look I stood from the stairs and went to the controls, they looked the same I had to feel them they felt real, too real, I gasped and turned around to face the doctor, "this is a dream, isn't it doctor? I'm still sleeping, right? at the asylum?"
"no, this is not a dream, this is real, I'm not a dream" my headache was coming back, slowly creeping back
"that means I've gone mad, I'm insane, no wonder dad put me in an asylum I'm dangerous" I got louder and louder with every word I spoke. I didn't belong in the outside world I was crazy I was mad, I should be put on medication, I should be in chains!!
Someone was shaking me, talking really loudly I came round and realised I was on the floor and I was crying, the doctor was holding me by my shoulders
"Are you okay?" he asked I nodded, not trusting my voice just yet. The doctor stood up and gave me his hand, I took it without hesitation as I had done many times before, in dreams, the doctor stood me up and took me to sit on the couch I knew the questions would begin, go with the flow right? so before he could ask I went on to explain
"I have lived in an asylum for the mentally ill for nearly fifteen years, my father took me there when I was five because I had recurring dreams about travelling through time and space with a man in a blue box called the TARDIS" the doctor gasped I looked at him and smiled then carried on hoping he wouldn't interrupt, thankfully he didn't "my father took me to many doctors, psychiatrists, and witch doctors, but no one could 'help' me the way he wanted, they said I was a normal five year old girl with a healthy imagination, but he didn't want to hear it, in the end he took me to the asylum and left me there, never came to visit, the doctors knew I was 'normal' after my first week there so they left me alone, I could come and go as I pleased as long as I came back by ten p.m, every night, though, when I slept I dreamt of the man in the blue box flying through time and space, when I was with him we had so much fun" I laughed through the tears that fell down my face.
"I'm sorry. I am so sorry" he said as he held my hand "but....." he then stood and with a big smile on his face went to the controls he pressed a few buttons, pulled a lever and pressed more buttons then with whirring sound we were off.
We landed with a soft thud, and the doctor, still smiling, turned to face me
"I still don't know your name" he asked with his hands in his pocket
"Zoe"
"nice name" he commented I nodded a thanks
"can I ask you something?" I asked to which he nodded
"If this isn't a dream, and you're real" I started he nodded "how did you find me? and why did you save me?"
"I wasn't looking for you, Zoe, the TARDIS has this ability to find those who need help, it was the TARDIS that found you not me" he told me looking at me the whole time I just nodded, I did remember calling the doctor for help before everything went black.
"How's your foot?" He asked nodding towards it, I looked down at it and moved it
"It was sore before but it's fine now"
"Ok, ready to take the bandage off?, you've had it on for a week, and it was just a sprain" he told me a week? I had been here for a week? I raised my foot into the air as he came and sat in front of me, he took my leg and put it on his leg
"I've been asleep for a week?" I asked as he started to undo the bandage
"You woke up once, screamed, lashed out, had some toast, then went back to sleep"
"Oh" was all I could say, I mean what do you say to that, we sat in silence now as I watched him unravel and roll the bandage at the same time. Once it was off I automatically started to rotate it
"How does it feel, Zoe?" He asked
"It feels great" I told him, happy with my answer he smiled and stood up, took a trench coat off a hook on the side of the controls ball and put it on
"Do you have a fashion sense?" I joked he was wearing his suit with white trainers, that was bad enough, now he wears a trench coat.
"You can talk" he answered looking me up and down I looked at what I was wearing and gasped when I realised I was still in the asylum gown, I couldn't go out like this the doctor laughed at me " the room next to the room you woke up in, go in there, there are clothes in there" he said then went and sat on the sofa, one leg on top of the other, I ran up the stairs and went into the room he told me about the door was blue, when I went in I was amazed there were draws and wardrobes lining every wall, there were plaques on each wardrobe one said 'shirts' another said 'pants' another said 'shoes'. I opened the one closest to me, 'shirts' there all kinds of shirts and t-shirts in here they were all different sizes too, I picked a red long sleeved, high neck t-shirt, I closed the wardrobe and went to the next one 'pants' I opened it and again found many different styles of pants, all different sizes, I picked some blue jeans. Then I went to the next one for shoes I picked out black ankle boots, I then went to the draws and picked out some undergarments (I won't go into details here because I want this book to be suitable for all ages). Then after making sure the door was closed I got dressed.
Once done I went back downstairs the doctor was still sitting on the sofa
"You look great" he told me I whispered a thank you as I went red, he walked over to the double doors and opened one door inward then he looked back at me and nodded towards the door telling me to go out first I smiled then went out.
The sky was blue and there were trees and big flowers for as far as the eyes could see
"Where are we?" I asked looking around
"Guess" he whispered in my ear he then moved away from me
"I can't figure it out, it's not fair, I don't know anything about the universe" I told him whilst I pouted with my arms across my chest
"Ok, ok," he said putting his hands up in surrender "let's just say that you're the first human to ever breath the air on earth" he smirked
"Wait, you mean.... We're on earth?"
"Yes, not only that, earth is only a thousand years old, there's no life here ... Yet" I looked on amazed I was the first human to ever breath the air on earth, it was an amazing feeling
"I'm the first human to step on earth?" I asked amazed by what I was feeling
"Isn't it brilliant?" the Doctor asked, with his hands in his pockets I looked around, in the distance, a mere two hundred yards away I saw that the the grass was flat, confused I walked towards it and gasped at what I saw
"Um doctor?"
"Yeah?"
"We're the the first beings on earth?"
"Yup"
"Then why are there footprints here?"
"What?" The doctor exclaimed walking quickly to where I was crouched down looking at the very large footprint in the ground "where did this come from?" He spoke in a high voice looking around probably wondering what could've made a print that big it looked like a shoe print but bigger
"Could it be dinosaurs?" I asked under a whisper
"No, no, no dinosaurs don't come for another millennia, besides they look like shoes, I'm pretty sure dinosaurs didn't wear shoes" he assured me still looking around confused, it seemed the doctor knew nothing about the creature that made this big footprint
(AN I know my science is probably off but this is my book so deal with it)
"I think we should leave" I announced as I slowly stood up looking around to make sure nothing would jump out at me, I mean if the doctor knew nothing about these creatures then we were obviously not safe, I turned to face the TARDIS but as I did the ground began to rumble, but then it stopped, then it rumbled again, then stopped I turned to face the doctor again I saw a large giant of a man walking towards us every time he walked the ground rumbled
"Yeah, I think you may be right, time to leave, come on" the doctor stood up, got hold of my hand and began running I ran to keep up we neared the TARDIS, I was happy, I slowed down but the doctor pulled me passed the TARDIS
"What?, wait, where are we going, the TARDIS is back there" I shrieked
"What? Are you crazy?, we have to investigate, I have never met this kind before, I want to know more" he announced as we kept running. I looked back to see the giant was close, very close his strides were bigger than ours, I shrieked unwillingly as he neared, a great shadow passed over head, for a moment I thought it might be a plane, but I knew the moment I thought it, it couldn't be, I looked up and saw legs, big legs, the giant jumped over us we stopped running, as he turned to face us once he landed, he sat down as I moved back, still holding onto the doctors hand,
"He's going to eat us" I whispered to the doctor
"No he won't" he assured me I wasn't convinced
"The giant tilted his head to the side, the giant sat down to get a better look at us, even then he was bigger than a two storey house
"Who are you?" He spoke slowly as if we wouldn't understand, the doctor let go of my hand and walked towards the giant putting his hands in his trouser pockets
"Hello, I'm the doctor" he said I could literally hear him smiling
"Doctor?, what's a doctor?" The giant seemed confused I stepped forward
"This is John Smith, and I'm Zoe" I told him, the giant looked at me and smiled
"Why are you so small?" He asked, I looked at the doctor, he looked at me and shrugged
"We're not from around here" the doctor told him
"Oh? where do you come from?" he asked the doctor we looked at each other trying to figure out what to say
"Well I'm from Gallifrey, and she's from the future, very far into the future" the doctor explained sticking out his chin as he spoke
"Is Gallifrey a different planet?" the giant asked to this the doctor answered with a yes "Have you come to invade?" we laughed at this with our size and number I think not and I answered, this time, with a no. The giant was pleased with this, the doctor asked him which planet he was from, to this he told us he was from Earth, we told him that was impossible but he didn't like this, we went on to ask him where his ancestors were from but we got the same answer 'earth' this was getting us nowhere. The doctor was getting frustrated now but I was enjoying myself I kept laughing but disguising them into coughs, the doctor kept looking at me furiously, the giant just laughed. The doctor hated the fact that his history knowledge was wrong. These giants were from earth, they were born on this planet, there was no doubt so why was there no mention of them in the history books?, I wanted to research further, that is if the Doc allows it. after more questions the doctor decided he wanted to meet more giants. so the giant lifted us up into his hand and he walked towards the way he was going before he stopped.
They had built no houses, as they didn't know how, instead they lived in mountains, they had broken the walls of the mountains to get inside these are today known as caves. they knew nothing about fire, there were no animals yet therefore they ate trees, fruit from the trees, and flowers and grass. so yes they were herbivores, which means it was safe to sat we wouldn't get eaten.
