Chereads / Every Breath You Take / Chapter 17 - seventeen

Chapter 17 - seventeen

"Em?" Olivia asked as she ran her fingers up and down her girlfriend's arm.

"Hmm?" the younger girl replied absentmindedly, still exhausted from their previous encounter.

"What's going to happen to us?"

Emma, surprised by the question, turned to face Olivia. "What do you mean?"

"What's going to happen to us?" Olivia repeated her question, voice firmer this time. "When we go back to school?"

Emma sighed. "I-I honestly don't know..."

Olivia retracted her fingers and sighed dejectedly. "This was too good to be true,"

The cheerleader cupped Olivia's face in her hands. "Hey," she said softly.

Olivia's piercing green eyes stared into Emma's brown ones. The younger girl felt her breath hitch in her throat. She sighed. "Livok, babe...I don't know what's going to happen to us when we go back to school. I mean...look at Kate, for instance..." she trailed off.

"I know," Olivia interrupted. "You have a reputation to uphold...you can't be seen with me...it's always the same with your type," she rolled her eyes, grabbing the towel from the rack and getting out of the bathtub.

"Liv! Wait," Emma called out after her, scrambling to get out too.

But the older girl was already out of the room.

"Damn it," she muttered under her breath as she drained the tub.

Emma returned to her bedroom to find Olivia under the covers, fast asleep. She sighed and got changed, cuddling with her girlfriend.

"I'm sorry I can't give you an answer right now," she whispered. Olivia stirred in her sleep. "I promise I'll figure this out. I want to be with you...so much,"

What Emma didn't know was that Olivia heard her every word.

She had to admit, she was afraid of what would happen to them once the semester break was over.

Would they go back to being strangers? Lesson partners? Would they stay as lovers?

The possibilities were endless.

Still feigning sleep, the older girl turned to face her girlfriend and snuggled her head in her chest.

She heard Emma sigh contentedly.

When they awoke, the sun had already risen.

What time was it?

Olivia rolled over and checked the time on her phone.

8AM.

She groaned.

"Not a morning person, huh?" Emma chuckled lightly. She was reading a book. Her glasses sat on the bridge of her nose and Olivia smiled, taking in her beauty.

"We've spent the past few nights together...I assumed you'd be used to it by now," the raven-haired girl replied, her raspy morning voice music to Emma's ears.

"Speaking of which...I've never been to your place,"

Olivia sighed. "If I'm being honest, I don't really want to take you there,"

Emma raised an eyebrow. "Why not?"

"Well, ever since I came out, my family...they've treated me different. No more evening laughter at dinnertime, no heart to heart talks with my siblings...nothing,"

The cheerleader closed her book and set it aside, patting her shoulder as an indication for Olivia to lay on her for comfort.

"Honestly? I probably would be better off if they'd just kick me out," the green-eyed girl scoffed as she got comfortable. "Better that than them literally holding the roof over my head,"

Emma sighed. She compared her life to Olivia's. She was really, really lucky. Her parents were so accepting of her, even though they weren't too happy with the way they found out about her sexuality.

Her friends? Even better. She thought back to the phone call she and Ava had just days ago and chuckled lightly.

She loved her friends and family.

"Well...do you have to go back anytime soon?"

Olivia shook her head. "Technically no," she paused to think. "But I would like to go back and grab a couple of art supplies...been a while since I've painted. I miss the feeling of holding a brush between my fingers,"

Emma shifted into a sitting position and Olivia groaned at the loss of contact.

"Let's go,"

"What?"

"Let's go. Right now," Emma repeated.

Olivia scoffed. "You're kidding, right?"

"Why not?" Emma asked incredulously. "We grab a couple of things and leave. Easy," she laced their fingers together. "Besides, I want to see you paint,"

The raven-haired girl looked at her lover tenderly.

How could she say no?

"Okay," she exhaled. "Let me get changed first,"

Emma wrinkled her nose. "Yeah. You stink," she said jokingly.

Olivia leaned closer. "You love me though,"

The cheerleader turned her head in the opposite direction, but couldn't resist leaving her neck exposed as Olivia began planting kisses along her jawline and worked her way down.

"I do," Emma hummed in content.

She felt Olivia smile against her skin.

The older girl's hand made its way down and found the hem of Emma's loose fitting pants, slipping in and palming the cheerleader's centre through the thin fabric of her panties.

Emma inhaled sharply, moaning when Olivia pulled her panties aside and slipped three fingers in. The younger girl was in for a ride.

Literally.

Her moans got louder as she started grinding on Olivia's hand, trying to gain more friction. "Fuck, babe," she groaned.

It wasn't long before the young cheerleader climaxed.

"I wasn't expecting that," she gave Olivia a quick peck on the lips. "It was a nice surprise though,"

Olivia grinned and stood up. "You're welcome," she winked. "Seriously though, let me get changed and we can go,"

In just a little over an hour, the two girls stood in front of Olivia's house, the building towering over them.

Olivia let out a breath she didn't know she'd been holding. Emma laced their fingers together.

"You'll be fine," the younger girl comforted her girlfriend.

The green-eyed girl gave her girlfriend's hand a reassuring squeeze. "I've got you by my side. I know I'll be okay," she smiled. "We've got a little over an hour before everyone's home from their classes and work. That should be enough time but...let's just grab my things and go,"

Together, the duo walked into the dark apartment complex, Olivia bracing herself to finally show Emma the part of her life she hadn't been intending on showing anyone.
