Chereads / Apostle White / Chapter 14 - Sister

Chapter 14 - Sister

Seriously.

That kid had the audacity to push me into a pit and run away after all the things I had been doing for the sake of protecting him. I wondered why the lady chose me for this mission.

It was a lame plan in fact. I do agree that it was my fault for teasing him and making him dig a pit, but I couldn't believe he was stupid enough to run away from the only person that could help him. On top of that, he even forgot how strong I was. That pit was barely a couple of meters deep. Even a child could climb out of it on its own.

I climbed out of the pit and left the room. He was not in the restaurant. I figured he must have run away on his own. I reached the knob of the restaurant's door and opened it. A figure crashed right at the restaurant door. It was the elf whom we had met a while ago. That kid...

A few yards away, that kid was floating above a rooftop. He was holding someone by their neck. The kid noticed me and tossed the person away.

"Why do you want to abandon this world?"

The kid spoke in a different yet familiar tone. It was a virtually impossible situation. I had failed to notice it all along.

"Why are you not dead yet, Justice?"

"You do know my identity, huh? I guess you are one of those doll's children too."

"Hey, hey, calling someone else's mother a doll right in front of them... Aren't you the doll here, self-proclaimed goddess? Weren't you literally killed by that useless brother of yours? But to think you were able to survive..."

"It sure was hard. I might have as well faded away into nothingness if it wasn't for that child."

"It should have been impossible for someone like you to take over that kid! He was under sister's protection!"

"Take over that kid? Hahaha! You seem to have been mistaken. The one I took over was not the kid, but the child! She was a mere child of an imitation. There is no way she would stand a chance against the real deal!"

It was impossible. I believed that there was no way the sister I knew could be defeated. I guessed that that woman must have used some underhanded methods. However...

"Even for you... Isn't it out of your mind? Attacking elves!"

"This is my world. That person may have decided to abandon it, but I have no obligation to listen to that old man anymore. His era is no more."

"Your era too, dumb spirit."

"Mind your words runt!"

She charged at me. I tried to block her but she suddenly disappeared from my sight. I heard her voice as I was looking for her.

"Behind you~"

She landed a blow on my back and sent me flying.

"No way..."

She appeared in front of me and punched me in the stomach. I realized his strength the moment her blow landed. That kid did not know his own potential. That woman was making perfect use of it. However, I still had the upper hand. The kid's body was untrained. No matter how experienced she was, it was only a matter of time before the kid's body loses stamina.

She was already panting by the time she landed a hit on me. Her attacks hurt a lot. However, I was a lot sturdier than I seemed to be. Within the next few moves, I realized that she should start leaving openings. She acted just as I expected.

"You must have focused on training that kid's body first if you were going to make use of him like this."

She was much more vulnerable than she initially was. At that point, she was an easy target. I kicked her in the face and sent her flying.

"I guess it is about time I finish this."

I decided to knock her out first before doing anything else. As I tried to hit her, something hit me.

My hands were wet. It was blood. I thought that I was stabbed by that woman, but that woman was lying in front of me, half-conscious.

"You guys got yourselves out of the spell and now you are killing yourselves even without it? Hahahaha! You dumb inferior beings amuse me!"

It was an elf. No, a group of six of them. One of them had shot me with a crossbow. The most fancily dressed one came forward.

"You were having fun fighting each other, weren't you?"

"The elves... As petty as always..."

I knew that there was no way I could take on six elves at once. Securing the kid was my first priority. Getting caught by the elves was well within my predictions, but I never imagined that Justice would appear again.

Justice got back at her feet.

"I understand that you only wanted me to entertain you before she killed me... But I still express my thanks. It seems that I underestimated that doll's child."

She turned over to me.

"You almost got me this time but seems that luck is on my side."

Saying so, she vanished. The fancy elf seemed bewildered.

"What the hell are you brats? To think you are still standing after being hit by an elven crossbow! And the two people that were killed... I assume that they were your doing as well."

I had no time for them. It wasn't like I would have won if I decided to fight either. I had to go after Justice but I had no idea where she could have escaped to.

"You aren't talking, huh? That leaves me with no option but to eliminate you as a potential threat to our mission. Not that I would have let you live even if you were a normal brat."

The elves behind him got into formation.

"I would have liked to play with you too but I have something more important to do."

I gathered up my strength and punched the ground. A huge wall of stone was erected before me. I hurried back to the sanctum. The mission was a huge failure. Justice survived, I lost the kid, and the elves became aware of our presence.

I was not at my perfect condition either. Fighting Justice was already taxing. As I entered the sanctum, I was greeted by a familiar face.

"It's been a while, Mary."

"Sister..."
