Chapter 4 - Chapter Four- Power

"Miss Naomi," he said with his speech impediment and she felt a droplet of spittle on her left cheek.

Tatalee watched as Naomi flashed a plastic smile and wiped her cheek. The stiletto heels of their shoes sounded like the nails of cats on the marble floor as they walked towards the elevators with the mirror like stainless steel doors. They both held back their giggle as they could see the tall handsome guard in his grey suite clutch his rising weapon as his eyes followed them both.

"Alright Tatalee, I must admit I like it somewhere inside me even a tiny bit. He has never noticed me before in all the years and the one day I've followed your instructions he has become a fool." Naomi said.

" See Naomi, he is a nice guy. You should give him a chance. After all we both should not be going through a drought for so long and have such eye-catching bodies."

The elevator doors closed behind them and the carpet was missing from the floor. The black marble tiles reflected light like a mirror.

"Shit," Tatalee said. "Look Naomi I can see straight into my daylight."

"Crap, Tatalee what a damn good thing no men were in the lift, hey but when we were going to lunch the lift was full and I wondered why they were all so pensive. Strangely no one had their phones in their hands."  Naomi said.

Her manicured hand covered her mouth. "Serve you damn right Tatalee, you should have worn pants. Naomi laughed as her stop came up.

"Enjoy the rest of the day and please, no late-night meeting with Nick in that skirt or the dessert could become flooded." Naomi chuckled.

Tatalee held the door release button.

"Hah!. Bye Naomi. I promise to just greet him nicely with a handshake and a glass of his favourite juice upon his return later. Besides, he only has eyes for his wife since the cruise my child."

"Is that a hint of jealousy that I'm detecting Tatalee?" Naomi asked.

"Hah! I have him all the time and sometimes way into the hours of the night. She only gets him when he wants to sleep. I won't complain." Tatalee said.

"And you are saying you two are not in anything?" Naomi asked with one raised eyebrow.

Tatalee scoffed. "If I wanted to Naomi, I could be Mrs Nickolas Stern but if he cheats on her he would probably do the same to me one day. But child, when I see his broad shoulders or his muscular chest in his blue linen shirt, I have to bite my lips and clench my thighs. He is hot." Tatalee blushed as the words left her lips.

"Yikes, you have the hots for your boss! Imagine the sparks that fly between the two of you when you guys are all alone at nights in that big comfortable office with the suede leather suite and the soundproof walls and doors. When all lights are turned off and just the city lights illuminating the backdrop to his linen blinds. A glass or two of whisky after a long hard day for the two of you to celebrate a milestone. Damn, Karma must hate you." Naomi whispered.

"No, I hear she is a bitch," Tatalee whispered as the doors opened and then closed after Tatalee had released the button.

Tatalee watched as the sliver of light faded and she pictured the framed asset of her friend with the heels elevated her posterior and the triangle of light that was between her structured athletic legs really looked sexy.

"I wished my legs looked that that in a tight pants," Tatalee muttered.

She took a deep breath and let it out slowly as she fixed her hair in the mirror before exiting the elevator on the tenth floor. To her surprise. Nick was sitting in her office on the edge of her desk with a big grin on his face and he shouted, "Surprise I bet you never expected me back so soon, I am starving Tatalee."

"Hi," she said shyly. He was wearing the blue linen shirt. The buttons were partially undone, and the mat of black hair carpeted his chest. Her breath tried to escape her lungs and could not. His lithe muscular body had her knees weak every time, not to mention his piercing blue eyes.

"I brought something from breakfast, you can have it if you like," she said and passed him the bag.

"Hmm this smells like jerk pork from up the road, how did you know I was dying for jerk pork?" The early morning drive from Montego Bay was awful and I am starving.

"I didn't, I was planning to have it for lunch later today" Tatalee replied.

"Oh that reminds me, we have a dinner meeting at eight tonight and I need you to be there he said with his mouth stuffed with the pork. Just in case you have nothing to wear I brought you a little something that might accentuate your eyes. It's in your drawer."

"What's the meeting about?"

"Doesn't matter just wear something nice," Nick replied as he walked out of the office.

"Will Karma be coming too?" Tatalee asked.

"Nope, she thinks I am still out of town; I came up early because this new client will only be available tonight and, if we are able to close this deal, we stand to get a bonus of one percent of the multi-million-dollar loan that he is seeking." Nickolas replied nonchalantly.

"So, what am I Nick?" Tatalee asked with a half-smile on her face.

"My able-bodied assistant," he replied from his adjoining office, "a meal, few drinks and some business and who knows the night is young and so are we." Nickolas replied.

Tatalee opened her drawer and saw the glistening gold chain against the white cotton background. She gasped.

"Nickolas you shouldn't have. This is beautiful, I love it." She said as she placed it around her neck. "What is it for?" Tatalee asked blushing.

"I told you that already Tatalee, it accentuates your eyes and besides when I saw it this morning in the jewellery store it just called your name."

"Thank you, how can I ever say thanks boss for these tokens that you have been showering me with?"

"Tatalee, I told you already to be seen as a serious contender in the corporate world you have to dress and look the part. Just as how you command attention when you step into a room now that is how you attract the attention of men and women of power and influence. In order to suckle from the teat of success you must first look worthy of success. Like any other group, people feel comfortable when they think you have the same common bonds and thoughts. You become welcomed and accepted. Besides, with you beside me, it's a compliment."

"What about Karma?" Tatalee asked.

"Nothing. Everybody deserves their time in the spotlight Tatalee."

He smiled as he traced his index finger on the lines of her palm then withdrew it with a glint in his eyes.

She could feel the atmosphere in the room change immediately as their hands made contact. The air seemed to thicken, she struggled to breathe and when he removed his finger she could somehow still feel the imprint of his fingertips on her skin. There was an undercurrent of electricity that seemed to surround her body and she could feel her chest tighten. He was such a wonderful person, her lips trembled on the verge of telling him all her innermost secrets. He looked at her, shook his head as if in satisfaction and said, "I will leave you to get ready."

As he strode from the room, she got an excellent view of his retreating figure and sighed as she leaned against the desk. Her legs could no longer support her and she could feel the warm trickle of moisture the encounter had caused as it glided down her thigh. The man had her in knots. Just a touch and she was acting as if she was some sort of wild person. She could have sworn that she saw a look of lust in his eyes, but of course that couldn't be true. Her hands trembled as she gathered up the papers scattered around her desk. Perhaps she was going crazy after all. She closed her eyes and imagined a different way that their meeting could have ended. Behind her closed lids, she saw Nickolas Stern pulling her close and she could feel every rigid muscle in his body as his huge hands cupped her cheeks.
