Chapter 4 - All That Happiness.
"Yui…" That name just wouldn't escape my thoughts. I'd actually found someone who saw me as a person, someone who saw me for who I really am, someone, that could understand me. She didn't even care that I had a weak power, it didn't matter to her. "She truly is one of a kind…" I muttered softly to myself.
As I kept walking along to school, I couldn't help but notice the added spring in my step, the cherry blossoms falling all around me, the hope that I hadn't felt in a long time. Hope that finally, after all these years, my life would turn out for the better and that all my worries would be for nothing.
Suddenly, the sounds of footsteps erupted from all directions as I neared the front gates of my newest school. Tejinashi High. The place where all the strongest go to get stronger. And the weaker ones? They do get stronger… just in a different way.
A shadow, just slightly smaller than my own, appeared from behind me, its arm reaching around to tap my shoulder. Gale. My one and only true friend. 'Well, hopefully i can add Yui to that list soon,' I added silently. Gale and I have been friends for a long time. His mom knew my mom and so it was kind of expected for us to become friends.
"Amon, hurry up, well be late on our first official day." He said, causing me to sigh slightly.
I replied, trying my hardest not to make a fuss.
"Gale. We are literally less than a minute away from the gate. So just calm down, okay, well be fine." I replied.
He seemed to relax a little.
Only to tense up once again at hearing the word that riddled our childhood.
"FIGHT."
We both span around, instantly on our guard, only to see a second year student frozen in place, his skin going blue because of the temperature of the ice. A third year walked away from the fight, smirking victoriously as he muttered something while brushing past us, and freezing the left side of my arm.
"Just great. Looks like the power rankings were released early again. Must have thought I was an easy target. Or he's just a jerk. Probably both." I muttered, already used to this.
Explaining to Gale that I had to go do something, I headed off in a sprint to find a secluded area of the school.
"One."
"Two."
"Three."
I put all of my energy towards my index finger on my left hand, which caused some small sparks to form, eventually coalescing into a small, dull flame. I took one last cautionary glance, before holding my finger to my arm, slowly melting my arm and giving me some feeling back.
"Goddamn it, i'm definitely going to be late now." I grumbled.
I eventually gave up on trying to warm up my arm, I'm already late and holding that flame is getting too tiring. I ran as fast as my exhausted legs could take me, rushing through corridors until finally coming to a stop in front of my classes door. Slowly, almost timidly, I opened the door, only to find my teacher about to start the lesson.
'Well shit.' I thought.
