After a while, the sand levels lowered continuously until Airson was walking on a solid sandstone floor. There were torches on the walls that burned with yellow-green flames.
Airson kept his eyes forward. He could feel the presences of other beings creeping in the shadows. He heard slithering, shuffling, and every so often he'd hear tiny pieces of stone hit the floor behind him.
< Rua sat down around a bonfire with Airson.
Airson was poking a stick at the fire, just to pass time.
Rua looked at him. "Tired?"
"I don't get tired. Exhaustion is a mental battle first."
"That is a good mindset you have. There is some truth to it, but Airson, you are still human. Exhaustion comes naturally. Even if you try to push through it, your body will fail you before your mind does."
Airson stopped poking the fire. "I was reading something in the library yesterday. A book about divine treasures and artifacts. There was one that caught my attention; the Book of Dreams."
"The Book of Dreams?"
