Akasan opened his eyes. It was sunrise.
"Did you really sit like that all night?"
Akasan turned around. Fuu was walking towards him.
"Yeah. What about you, why up so early?"
Fuu looked out to the sun. "Morning exercise. You said you were here to inspect the civil war. But what do you actually plan to do?"
Akasan looked down at the grass in front of him as a cool breeze wafted over him. "I'd like to end it if at all possible."
"I do as well. This war must end. Let me fight with you."
Akasan stood up. "You can do whatever you want. Don't ask me for permission. Do what you think is right."
Fuu frowned. "I... believe that we should find more allies. My master lives a week's journey from here. Maybe we can rebuild an army."
Akasan started walking back to the campsite. "Sounds like a plan. I'm counting on you."
Fuu nodded.
Back at the campsite, Vera and Mark were fast asleep.
Akasan looked at Ren, who was laying down facing away from him. "Couldn't sleep?"
