Chapter 9 - Kids (2)

It is a Saturday afternoon, the twins are the only ones at home. Seven is still at the daycare, for his shift ends by 7 o'clock. I decided to leave the job and focus on my studies, now that we have got ourselves a place to live. I don't have to save up money anymore so I can take the twins with me. Thanks to Seven.

"I'm home," a familiar low voice was heard from the doorstep and my heart raced.

"Hey! How was your day?" I tried to sound not too nervous. I don't what I would do if he were to find out that I have feelings for him. It's just too early for that.. right?

"Kids really have amazing energy," he sighs. "It's almost unbelievable how they can run and play for the whole day, without any rest." He laughed.

"That's true.." I chuckled.

Ahh.. I still can't forget about it. Days passed and yet, I'm still here, overthinking everything. While it's true that I am younger than him, if he thinks of me as a kid, what can I do to change it? I'm sixteen years old! Old enough to know what it is to fall in love with someone!

"Are the twins asleep?"

I shook my head. "No, they're probably at the living room, watching tv. Did you eat dinner?" I motioned him to turn around as I gently take off his coat and to hang it.

"Ah yeah, I did," he answered quickly. "Anikka stopped by the kindergarten and treated me to dinner."

Anikka?

"What about you?"

"Oh.. yeah, I ate.. with the children. Burger steak."

"Agh!" He groaned. "I should have just gone home instead of going with Anikka!"

I giggled. "Well it isn't easy to say no to someone important to you.. I can never to the twins."

"I guess you're right," he smiled. "It's been a long while since we've last seen each other."

So she is important to him.. haha what am I thinking? Seven gave me a home and I'm already special..? What a joke.. of course he'd have somebody! He's an adult! He can go out with whoever he wants.. it is not mine to decide. I'm an idiot.

"Good morning!"

It was Yuna, standing at her back was Vene.

"Oh.. what happened? Why is the heroine sad?" Yuna teased and I playfully pushed her face away from mine.

"Stop, I'm studying," I say, grabbing my English textbook and placing my chin on my palm.

"Is it a guy?" Vene started and I glared at her.

"Twenty-four years old.. black hair, brown eyes, fair skin complexion-"

"Has a bachelor's degree.. major in English-"

"What are you-" Yuna snatched away the book before I could even finish my sentence. She sways it back and forth, in front of my face with a teasing smirk plastered across her face.

"You're too obvious, Sana.."

"You were holding onto your English textbook, you looked gloomy, this is all we could think about. Now what happened with you and your crush? Why are you looking like this?" Yuna grabs her chair, turning it backwards as she sat on it like a boy would do.

"Anikka," I whispered.

"Anikka..?"

I sighed for the thousandth time. "Yeah.. Anikka.."

"Who is she?" Yuna exclaims.

"Someone that Seven knows.." I muttered. "Someone that he knows and I don't.. they've known each other long before I met with him.."

"And that upsets you?" Yuna glared as Vene roughly hit her on the shoulder.

"Hold there, miss!" She shouts. "You don't know how bad it feels, don't you? To have discovered that the person you like, could possibly like another girl, not to mention.. someone you don't even know."

"So what?"

"It is where you get insecure!" Vene screams. She totally read my mind.. I never expected that I would feel this way. I mean, it's just been like a week? Since I have admitted to myself that I am really having feelings for Seven, and now I'm already feeling jealous over a person whom I don't even know.

Maybe he was right.. maybe I am still just a kid. I can't become the perfect woman for Seven if I'm this.. so immature.

"Why do you have to be insecure?" Yuna retorted. "You have your own charms. You have the potential-"

"If it's someone from their past, it's different. You don't know what kind of relationship they have.. what she means to the person that you like.. you'll end up overthinking things which will eventually lead you to staying up late at night." I interrupted her, tucking in a strand of my hair at the back of my ear and stared in front.

"Good morning class!" A loud teacher entered the room as he smacked the board with his logbook. It was Deither, in school I do call him teacher, outside.. just his name. "Did we have any assignments last week?"

"No!" The class all said in chorus, "We didn't!"

Rotating my head, I caught a glimpse of him outside, talking with a bunch of students and laughing with them. I'm happy to see that he is having a good time here in this school.. I can tell that teaching kids is what he really wants to do.

"Staring at something?"

"Ah!" I screamed, backing myself away from the man who just spoke, and his face just inches away from me. I almost fell off my chair because of surprise. What are you doing, Deither?! Putting your face close to mine?!"

He snickers, slowly wagging his index finger as he replied, "Uh-uh.. sir Deither, for we are in school."

I rolled my eyes, scanning my surroundings and now they all have smug faces which is not good. Deither has made them believe that we really had a romantic relationship, although he already swore to them that he was lying. Some weren't convinced, Deither and I are ridiculously close at school and maybe, that's why they believe there is something between the two of us.

"Get out of my face, you mushroom head..!"

He dramatically placed a hand on his chest with a sigh, "Mushroom head..?"

"You've styled your hair like mushroom today, sir."

"Eh?" He panicked, feeling his head as the whole class broke into fits of laughter. "I've styled it perfectly this morning!"

Squinting my eyes and touching his black hair, I was surprised that it feels so soft. The fact that it was shiny was shocking enough, as we all know that men like to use wax or styling gel for their hair. For Deither to have soft and shiny hair, he must be really taking care of himself.

"Apparently, you have a bed hair."

"What?!"

"Aw.." I clicked my tongue, leaning forward to him as I smirk. "Mister Good-looker's looking bad today.. is this is the end of your popularity?"

"I want you to solve the equation written on the board," he commanded.

"Eh?" I whimpered. "But I hate Math..."

"Math doesn't hate anyone.." Deither raised a brow at me along with a teasing smirk. "Go on, miss Copley.."

Standing up from my seat, I whispered into his ear, "I'll tell Cleo you've been a very bad teacher today."

"And I'll tell her that you've been a very naughty student today," he glared.

"You're a kid," I remarked.

"So are you."

What?

"No.." I answered softly, staring into his eyes that are obviously looking down on me. "I'm not a kid.."

"Copley..?"

"I may be sixteen years old, but I am not a kid.."

Deither lifted up his hands and held my shoulders, "Sanara-"

"You jerk!"

I screamed before storming out of the classroom. I heard him and my friends shouting my name but I didn't care. Why do I always have to be reminded of that fact? They don't even know how I feel about that.. yet, it was the truth. Couldn't I just be mature and played along with Deither?

Being a child has never been this painful before..
