The first time Elizabeth and Seth had sex was two weeks after their marriage. Before that, they hadn't had it since their meeting in July 2010. Kyadondo Rugby club was one of the best places to visit for free souls on such a day. The night was cold but did not in any way feel lonely. Everyone was outside their houses to watch the World Cup finals between Spain and Netherlands.
Darkness had already tucked in along the horizon on the Ugandan skies. The noises of football supporters with vuvuzelas and whistles made it feel like daytime. The young women danced their buttocks off and the men shouted with anticipation. It was the one night of the likeness in four years.
Elizabeth entered at around 9:10pm with Stephanie. The club was already full with people of different colours and attires. Luckily, these two young ladies did put up a challenge in their short body-hug dresses. The dresses sketched out their young bodies; every corner and hill. Elizabeth wore a black one while Stephanie was in a pink one. They were as bright as the lights in the night, but their fairness was underutilized because the club was full.
Elizabeth had known that this would happen but they had to first finish partying elsewhere as they wait for the important match since they weren't pundits to watch the statistics and match build-up before it began. They were laughing and shouting as they entered. Every time Elizabeth entered a club, the bad memories created by Elijah seemed to come back to life but on the other side, such a place was heaven for those dealing with personal issues. They stood at the back, only able to see a few parts of whatever transpired on the large screen.
"I think we should just chill this and leave it to humans without breasts," suggested Stephanie, causing a brief laughter at the fact that they could see nothing.
"Let's remain for a few minutes," requested Elizabeth. "At least the first half alone."
"I don't know why you find football interesting."
"We have different tastes Steph," she replied, looking around to spot any free seats. They was none. "I think we are going to remain here. Let me get some drinks." Elizabeth meandered through the crowded people and made it to the counter. "I want four bottles of Smirnoff," she ordered.
"Will they be enough?" asked a tall chocolate man. Elizabeth turned to look at the owner of the question but was disappointed when she saw a handsome guy who wasn't able to make eye contact.
"You tell me, will they be enough?" she replied him with a question, to give him the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps the man was better than just eye contact.
"I think you ladies deserve better than that," he said boldly, this time making eye contact to show the seriousness of his statement.
"Ladies?" Elizabeth was amazed. "What do you mean by 'ladies'? She did not want to admit the speculations in her head which suggested that the man had been watching them.
"I've been watching you two from the time you walked in," he drew clear lines. "I see you have no seats." Elizabeth smiled and turned to him in disbelief. "I've been here with some friends but they have got other plans elsewhere. Do you mind joining me?"
"Yes, we do mind," she shouted, "but thanks anyway." She then turned as though to escape from her time-waster.
Seth grabbed her left arm to make her stay a little longer. He could read her by the indecisive expression that she was probably enjoying every little bit of this unexpected harsh step. He freed her from the temporary prison after sensing discomfort in her lovely eyes. "There are a lot of men standing behind. May be you can offer them the seats!" The statement sounded final.
She turned and made her way back as Seth's eyes navigated the view of her exceptional body from behind. She was one of a kind. He bit his lower lip and followed behind her at a distance. Elizabeth reached her colleague who was buried in an intimate conversation with a stranger. She gave her a look of disappointment but did not say a word to antagonize the busy duo. She offered a bottle to Stephanie and stood there in silence. Seth was already standing near her but she hadn't noticed.
"You need some company?" he asked, Elizabeth turning in disbelief to his direction.
"You again?" she hissed.
"Yes, me again," he replied boldly. "I'm sorry if I am bothering but I just need your attention."
"Why?"
"Well, I don't think it's a bad thing to make new friends."
Elizabeth smirked. "Making new friends in a place like this?" She was still hard. "Just say that you're looking for a simple woman to warm you through the night!"
Seth was impressed by the woman's hardness, but wasn't about to give up just yet. "I admire your straightforwardness," he said tactfully. "But I have to break it to you that your last statement isn't accurate. I don't expect you to believe every single word I say—and that's okay—but let me try to prove to you."
"You're very bad at that," she dissed.
"At what?" he asked curiously.
"At courting ladies."
"Really?" He retorted, picking one of the bottles she'd placed on the floor. "Maybe you're right, but the night is not yet over. Perhaps you should give me more time to do my thing."
"A man who knows what he's doing doesn't need to ask for time. He already knows what to do." The statement was betrayed by a smile. She'd been enjoying the whole thing of playing hard-to-get but couldn't resist the man's charms any longer. Seth read all that on her bright face. He never wasted any other minute.
"I think this place is becoming more and more uncomfortable. Please join me outside for some fresh air," he requested, and looked at the woman as she considered thoughtfully. She already had the answer by didn't want to accept straightaway. She turned to her busy colleague and whispered something in her ear. She then turned to him and followed as he led the way.
