New Orleans was going to provide her with a lot of the answers she had been looking for all these years.
She spotted a squirrel fighting to get free from the tight trees it had become entangled in, she said, "Hey..." She approached it, attempting to calm it down, but the squirrel appeared terrified and fought to free itself from the branch right away. As she neared it, Astrid murmured quietly, "Calm down. I'm not going to harm you in any way. I am your friend." She knelt on one knee, attempting to assist the squirrel. His paws were covered in blood. "Your teeny-tiny paws are in pain. There, take it easy. I'll have you out of here in no time." As she lifted the branch, Astrid chuckled. The squirrel took off right away but returned after a few seconds.
It sat there innocently as if it had put its life in Astrid's hands.
