My name is Lydia Răducanu and I'm fourteen years old. I'm a girl with long brown hair, a height of about one meter and sixty-eight centimeters, so I'm a little dwarf. I don't have freckles, blisters, pimples, or moles on my face, so I don't look like the ugliest girl in the class who would never have a chance to go on a date with the most beautiful or almost beautiful boy in the high school I'm in. Anyway, boys don't benefit me, even if I'm at this age. I'm not interested in the prom either, all I'm interested in is finishing high school, enrolling in a police academy, and defending the city, which I still do.
A year ago, I was hit by a werewolf, and that werewolf accidentally scratched my stomach, and that scratch was cured with the help of hunter Tomi, who is a boy from another high school and is like me, a stuff hunter. mystics such as werewolves, gnomes, goblins, pterodactyls, 2D humans, those who come out of comic books or animated series, and travel the world even if they do not realize what kind of nonsense they are doing. Summer holiday. When that werewolf scratched me, it inserted some of its viruses into my body which was to make me an irascible and hard to control werewolf, but with the help of Tomi and the number five team, I managed to lower the grade. the difficulty of that werewolf, and now I can control it ... only limb transformations. I know it is little, but this one works too.
Ever since I was scratched by that monster, I decided to join team number five hunters of Romania. If I had not joined, then being imprisoned by the authorities to fight monsters in Europe, would have tested me or worse, would have exterminated me immediately. These combat teams exist all over the world, and in Romania, there are five, and these five have certain sectors. Team number one owns the sector in Western Romania, which includes Satu Mare, Maramureș, Sălaj, Bihor, Timișoara, Caraș Severin, Hunedoara, and Mehedinți. Team number two owns Eastern Romania, this team controls the fewest sectors, Constanța, Tulcea, and the Black Sea, because there are aquatic monsters that can be extremely dangerous and have undergone major mutations due to radiation has thrown into that sea due to those accidents between Ukraine and Russia. Team number three owns Northern Romania, which consists of Cluj, Mureș, Bistrița, Suceava, Botoșani, Neamț, Iași, Vaslui, Bacău, and Galați. And teams four and five take the center of Romania and the Transylvania area, in other words, two teams share the largest area of Romania where monsters appear frequently.
The responsibility of the teams is to capture or eliminate monsters, now it depends on whether they are classified as dangerous to humanity or harmless, and I, while working in team five, only came across dangerous monsters, and the most of them were eliminated by my members, so far I have not been able to exterminate any since I was not yet ready and can not take the life of a monster, be it dangerous or a danger to destroy the planet earth, I simply can not do such things... For now.
Anyway, I met my teammates and those are good guys. That's my opinion after one year I fully knew them. Our leader is one who helps me train after classes in an abandoned building. This training works because I can control the transformations and I can fight, even if in my life I could not fight because I am a girl and weak. But, Hengar, our leader, helped me a lot to fight better than any boxing boy. Alexandra is the lady who owns the street bookstore away from the high school I'm studying at, and she's a vampire lady who's over two hundred years old, but she looks like she's somewhere in her thirties. She even told me that she looks like that because at that age she was bitten by a vampire who sexually assaulted her one night when she came home drunk because she was advanced. And that bite changed her life and turned her from a woman who walks during the day with her friends, into a nocturnal woman who owns an abandoned bookstore (she always has the curtains drawn because she's a vampire and the light would kill her in an instant), the base of the team number five. Travis is just a driver who only helps us in transportation and sometimes works as a spy because he is invisible and always wears a man's suit and clothes that he finds in the trailers of the trucks he carries. We didn't talk to Travis much because he's always on the road hauling trailers with goods to help us get a penny or two and sometimes we use him as a spy, and from what I understand, Travis works as a spy using different skin, which is obvious that you just don't want to try to gather information using the same costume that can deteriorate over time as much as you wear it. And finally, we have Jacob, a ghost who is four hundred and sixty-six years old, and this ghost is my classmate, which makes me a little embarrassed to have a ghost as a classmate. class, which is not seen by anyone and can do anything is never such a good thing, to be honest.
*****
I am in class, at the middle bench in the third row, now I have to learn Romanian, a pretty boring subject if you do it with an old teacher who for my ghost colleague, Jacob considers her young and mindless because she knows how to speak only by the communist regime and how bad it was when a student sees that he does not listen to her subject which he considers important, but it will be when we reach the eleventh grade and we will be stressed with the matriculation exam or the baccalaureate as a popular name.
At this Romanian class, the teacher tells us about the author Mihai Eminescu and she tells us how her poems are extremely fabulous and can only be understood in Romanian. While she was talking about Eminescu's poems, Jacob, who was in the professor's chair, looked at one of the front men who wrote something down on a notebook. Jacob waits for a moment to see what he is doing, but the kid who writes in his notebook doesn't even notice him, as I said, Jacob is a ghost and can't be seen by anyone.
"That knows how to write. He will become a good writer," says Jacob levitating closer to me.
"Good to know," I whispered to Jacob. "But, can you please leave me alone. I am trying to study."
"Ooooh. Sure, sure," says Jacob sitting on a free seat and looking at the teacher who speaks about Eminescu. "... Damm, how does everyone from this country thinks Eminescu is a genius?"
"Ssssshhhh," I whispered at Jacob who stopped talking and he decided to leave the class which made me relieved I am not going to have another problem.
Right on my second day of grade nine, Jacob came into the biology class, and he has decided to do something silly for every ghost in a school. He decided to possess that skeleton of biology that helps us locate the bones and find out how many there are in the human body. Jacob played with that skeleton for a few moments, until the whole class, scared that the skeleton began to move, dragged her out of the classroom and the teacher fainted. Fortunately, Jacob was not punished by anyone at school because no one can see him, but basically, he was punished by Hengar, who gave him a heavy sentence, to remain locked in the sphere for ghosts punished for a month. And today is the day this ghost came out of the ghost and came back to me at school.
After a few moments, the whole class hears a bang upstairs. My first thought was that Jacob must have done something, but to my surprise, it wasn't that I see Jacob coming towards me, going through me, which makes me sick and tells me.
"We are attacked by a few slimes."
"Slimes?" I whispered to him and being careful about the fact that I whispered to a ghost that cannot see by anyone but me.
"Yes... There are four there."
"Why can't you fight them?" I whispered to him after the teacher continued her lecture about Eminescu.
"Do you somehow forget that I am a ghost, and you are a werewolf that can easily pass among enemies ?!"
"Good point," I whispered to him. "But what are they doing here?"
"How should I know it? I do not speak the slimy language."
"We are going there after when the break starts, they sure won't make a big mess, will they?" I whispered to Jacob to which he replies that he has no idea, but he knows how important school is to me so he leaves me alone and escapes from the classroom by going through the ceiling. I guess he's going back to where he discovered those slime-type monsters.
After a few minutes of listening to my Romanian teacher talking about Eminescu, the bell announcing that the breaks are starting and high school students announcing high school students that they can go quietly to break to eat, walk or smoke a cigarette is after school just like most those in grades ten through twelve. Of course, there are a few freshmen like me out there to put in a cigarette or two, just to make friends with the older ones. I don't smoke and I don't want to do that because smoking can destroy my health, at least that's what my mother always told me. Well, I leave the classroom, I go to that floor, where those slime-type monsters are, at a brisk pace because I only have ten minutes to get rid of them or capture them.
I go upstairs, pass three older girls who look at me for a long time, and giggle at me, and I ignore them because I don't have time for that. These older girls started laughing at me because I'm a freshman and I'm ugly to them but I don't care because I have more important things than being interested in beauty and stuff, I have to exterminate some creatures that are in school and poses a danger to those in this school.
