Chapter 39 - TRUE COLORS

AMBER'S POV

Robbie placed Kristy in her bed- her innocent form is now under a peaceful slumber, so pure, so sweet and so kind. As if she was an angel of the lord and yet for an unknown reason I loathed her for it, maybe it's because I envied her innocence or due to the fact that Robbie gives her too much attention. Not to mention that if she wasn't have been born, Robbie might have looked for me and I shouldn't have died.

No matter what the reason may be one thing is certain, I hate Kristy and I want her out of our lives. Maybe someday, I'll be able to convince Robbie to abandon her or kill her. But for now, I'll pretend to like her for the sake of my revenge and survival.

After exiting the room, I immediately spoke to Robbie. Tonight is one of the nights when Malory sneaks out to meet the gardener's son and waiting for another few days is not an option- I hate waiting therefore, I won't.

"Robbie, we need to go to the manor" I told him.

"Amber I told you already, we need to plan this out. Besides it's the middle of the night, you should rest" I internally groan, I really hate this. I already have a plan but letting him know that I do will make him doubt me, the man is indecisive and even now he is still hesitating on certain things.

"I know but I just have to" I persisted.

"Why? What is that you wanted to do in the manor so badly?" ah! Why does he have to ask too many questions, if he wasn't useful in some ways– I would've killed him long ago, he just got lucky that the drunkard came. That knife was meant for him anyway however, I'm glad I didn't kill him yet because it's better for me to have a useless pawn in the game than not having any at all.

"If you don't want to come along then don't but, I'll go even if I have to go alone" I told him while keeping a sad and disappointed tone.

With a heavy sigh, Robbie reluctantly agreed "Fine, I'll go with you. I can't really let you go on your own, we're in this together after all" he told me with a smile which I was obliged to return.

"We should get going" I replied while taking his hand.

In the dead silence of the night, we linger around the manor and cloaked by its darkness, we stalked our prey. There she was- seating by the window of my old room, accompanied by the burning light of a candle.

Suddenly, an unidentified object hit the glass window.

Upon hearing the small thump in the window, Malory stood up then glanced outside, and after doing so a faint smile graced her lips. He's here now- the gardener's son, quickly she picked up the candle and pointed to the direction of the back garden.

With an agreeing nod, Malory turned to leave the room.

"Robbie we have to follow them" I told him while pulling on his shirt.

"I understand" he simply replied.

Both of us climb through the willow tree- using it as a bridge to enter the other side of the wall.

Robbie jumped down first then he raised his arms as if to catch me, I smiled at his silly gesture but jumped into his arms nonetheless. He embraced me tightly as I landed in his chest, enveloping me with his warmth.

I will admit- I've always thought of killing Robbie but, there are moments such as this one- that make me want to hold on to him for eternity. In this kind of situation, I could feel his heartbeat and it takes me back to the time when I was still human, the time when our love was genuine, and that time when I was still naïve. However, things have changed- I'm no longer human nor I'm naïve. This time I knew better, this time I now know that love alone cannot give me what I wanted. And for that reason, I will set my previous life aside and keep my wonderful memories with Robbie close to my heart- until I get what I wanted.

Which is to slaughter the entire Stone Family.

"It's okay now, you can put me down Robbie" I told him with a smile, nodding in agreement he set me down.

"Follow me, they are going to the back garden" I stated before carefully walking in the direction leading to the garden.

"You know, seeing your stepsister sneak around as we did before makes me feel bad for her. We already know how this will end for them and it's just saddening" I stop for a moment, he was right but I don't really care.

"I know and that's why we need to see her because I will offer her a deal of a lifetime. A free ticket toward the life of freedom" I replied as I continued to our trail.

"What offer?" Robbie asked.

"Oh you'll see, it will be a win-win situation for both parties so there's no need to worry" I explained to him.

Taking the last turn, we both made it to the back garden without attracting the attention of Malory and her lover.

It was dark, but it was obvious where they are due to the light of the candle Malory has brought with her. It was a foolish mistake, if a maid or anyone in the family happens to glace over the window- it would be the end of her little fantasy.

Staying in silence, we listened to their conversation.

"Malory, we have to leave the town and you know it. Your family will kill us both if they ever find out, just think of what will happen. I don't want to lose you and our child" a male voice said, seriously they've gone that far? Well, they'll be dead alright- Father only cares about money, and now that his precious 'merchandise' had been damaged all hell will definitely break loose.

"I know but, I can't just leave my little sister. She'll just suffer the same fate as I have" she desperately replied.

"If only there's another way to solve the problem" she continued, this is the moment.

Stepping out of my hiding spot, I spoke to the problematic couple "What about I offer help?"

Both looked at me in shock- eyes are wide and unable to speak, they had been caught and they are fearing for the worst.

"Do not fret, I'm not an enemy. I could help the two of you but in exchange, you will help me as well" I started.

"Amber?" Malory spoke in disbelief.

"T-this can't be you're dead" she continued.

"Well not quite, they say that... but I'm very much alive. It's almost a surprise, how did you recognize me?" I asked her as I took a step closer.

"How can I not, your portrait still remained in that house" she replied while looking at me from head to toe.

"Well, I think that's enough for our introduction. How about we talk about my offer?" I asked once more.

"Alright, I'm listening" hah! The little b*tch have guts and seem to be determined.

"We may not be sisters but blood but we're sisters alright, both are stones of heart. Walk with me" I demanded, turning my head to the side ever so slightly- pointing to the direction I wanted to stroll on.

She looked over her lover before nodding.

And both of us walked out of his earshot.

The night is dark and cold and is just perfect for such an offer.

"Listen to me Malory, I plan on killing Father"
