Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 : Mana Ball

James awoke feeling great pain in his arms, groaning in pain, he opened his eyes and saw in amazement, his hungry companions sitting around embers with meat laid on stones that were themselves laid on the fire.

One of his companions seeing him wake up took a large piece of cooked meat that she brought before James and gave it to him, hungry James took the piece in a blink of an eye and swallowed it ferociously like a hungry beast.

"It's so good!"

He devoured the meat at full speed, gnawing even at the bone with his teeth, then he noticed that the bull had disappeared, he understood that his companions of misfortune had been busy butchering the bull.

He looked at them and noticed that they all looked at him with begging eyes, that's when James understood.

"It's true, in the tribe the hunters share their prey as they please, eating someone's prey without their permission could cost their life."

James, embarrassed by their looks, nodded his head and told them to eat.

They then hurried to take the meat from the fire and devour it at full speed.

According to his memory, their original tribes were a fairly prosperous tribe, he had mastery of fire and could build some relatively simple houses, they knew how to carve stones and make arrows and spears, but they had no knowledge of metal processing or any kind of primary technology, James understood then that the time of agriculture and animal husbandry had not yet been reached, this world had not even entered the Bronze Age yet.

James took another piece of meat and ate this time more quietly, then after finishing he looked at his hands which were covered in blue as he sighed.

"This energy is more powerful than I thought, I'd better study it more carefully."

Then he sat down by the fire and began to experiment under the curious eyes of the others who looked at him with admiration while eating.

A week passed then, James and his acolytes dried the bull's meat to make it last as long as possible and maybe luck was in their favor but it rained the next day which allowed them to fill their pitchers of water.

In the meantime James trained relentlessly to master the blue energy, first he tried to understand his degree of control over the energy.

He understood that he could give the blue energy the shape he wanted as long as it was a simple shape like a ball or a square, he then tried to project the ball of energy he created and amazingly after three days of training and thinking it worked.

In honor of the video games of his world and especially because he had no other idea, he decided to call this energy Mana.

He could throw up to five balls of energy with a diameter of 10 cm with his reserve of mana.

He took a deep breath and looked at his companions of misfortune for a moment while holding in his hands the bull's horn which was as sharp as a carved stone and then walked towards the forest under the worried gaze of his comrades.

James had already understood that he could no longer continue in this situation, the laws of nature are formal, either eat or be eaten, their food supply was not eternal and the water would run out at some point.

In this small group of children, James had already become the chief by default, he knew that apart from him no one else was fit to hunt or look for a waterhole, so he decided for his long-term survival to find at least one waterhole so that he could at least have the basis for a good human condition.

He walked proudly through the forest leaving so many signs on the trunks of the trees to be able to find his bearings or find his way back, he continued walking in the forest until nightfall, sometimes encountering a kind of deer with a horn on its forehead, which he called uni-deer, running at full speed before he even attacked them.

Night fell and James tried to light a fire with the flints that his companions had given him, but without success he finally climbed a tree, then spent the night without closing his eyes once for fear of attracting predators like the tiger that had massacred his tribe.

The next day, at sunrise, he continued to walk through the forest, then after several hours, he suddenly stopped before hiding behind a bush.

He looked further and saw the entrance to a cave with a blue glow, and a red bear, nearly four meters tall, lying on the ground, asleep in front of the cave.

"This bear must weigh about 700 kg with his flesh, we could have at least one or two months of food, besides he is asleep it will facilitate my work."

But James' legendary bad luck came into action again, the Bear suddenly woke up and sniffed the air around before his eyes fell on the bush where James was hiding.

"ROAR!!"

The Bear got up in a fury and rushed with drool on his lips towards James as if he was a five star dish.

James saw this and jumped out of the bush and aimed at the bear with his right palm.

"Mana ball!"

His mana condensed in his palm quickly and was thrown towards the bear who without having time to dodge fell to the ground.

But unlike the bull he did not lose consciousness, James shot another mana ball and then a third one which finally knocked the bear out.
