Shennie POV
Yesterday was just awesome, was just feeling a little guilty for lying to Lenti. The whole of the week was just awesome. Lenti and Alvin were escorting us home everyday and we didn't complain at all. Lenti is so good to be around with, we just have so much things in common. This past week I have learnt a lot about him, his likes and dislikes .
Like he likes the colour blue, he used to live in South Africa before they relocated here, Alvin is the only friend he has both at home and at school too. He lives with his mom and grandpa because his parents separated. I feel so sorry for him, I just cant imagine how life can be without both parents living together . Before separating parents must consider about what their kids will go through.
It was now Friday and Lenti just left me, Princess and Jaden at Jaden's crib thinking that its our house, OMG why did I even lie about this? I went home and everyone was busy I just greeted Ellain cause she was the only one at home , mom and dad were at work and Cherry was at Jaden's place cause Jaden's elder sis Paris is the same age as Cherry and they get along very well. Paris is our cousin sister (since Jaden is also our cousin brother) that is why our families are so close and we would go to their house just for a small get togethert and vice versa.
Our dad and Jayden's father would watch football together sometimes and our mothers would be talking about their businesses and other women's staff. And me and Jayden we will be playing games on his desktop computer. Ellain, Cherry and Paris will be talking about girls staff e.g fashion, trending movies and songs and they will be watching videos on youtube. Sometimes our families would plan vacation trips especially on holidays and we would go to different places , that's how close our relationships was.
So I just went to my room and Ellain came with my food to my room. I ate there and I went to our music room and I played the piano. My mom taught me how to play the piano ever since I was juvenile and now I can play the piano so perfectly and with so much enthusiasm.
I love playing the piano whenever I am under the weather or bored and this time around I was worried about how I am going to survive without Lenti by my side, there's only a 7 sleeps left for the holiday to finish. So I played the piano and I zoned off sitting there.
I woke up lying in my bed, I think Ellain carried me. It was now in the evening and we ate together as a family as usual. We talked about random things. When we finished eating mom and dad went to the living room and started to watch a movie and we left them so that they could have the time of their lives and feel like they are 16 again. Funny! Cherry and I went to Ellain's room.
Us: Sis!!! (We screamed jumping on her bed)
Ellain: Barbies!! (She screamed back)
Us: NO!! (We said at the same time)
Me: We are not Barbies anymore we are grown up now. (We started laughing together.)
Ellain: You will always be Barbies you two.( She chuckled)
Me: Ok sis what about a movie tonight?
Cherry: NO!! (She argued, she knew that the only thing I want to watch is Barbie and she says that she is too grown to watch Barbie MXM.)
Me: We will watch Barbie and thats it. (I said as if I was the elder and cherry hated the fact that I was so demanding)
Cherry: NO Arti!
Me: YES! Cherriri. (I knew that this will piss her off cause grandma (dad's mom) doesn't know how to say Cherry and she ended up calling her Cherriri)
Cherry: Arti stop that!! "You're now getting on my nerves".(She was pissed, her facial expression said it all)
This is how it was like with me and Cherry. We would argue for no reason at all and make a mountain out of a mole hill. People say that its normal for siblings to do this maybe its true.So whenever we argue Ellain would stop the madness.
Ellain: Ok ok you two stop it remember you are in my room so you will do as I say ok. (We just gave her the WTF look)
Cherry: Ok Miss Room Owner can we watch Titanic then. (Cherry loves Titanic so much , she has watched it countless times , she even sometimes imitates Rose and cry's when the movie ends as if she didn't know what was going to happen. I think that if she watches it this time, it will be the the hundredth time)
Us: NOO!! (Ellain and I said at the same time) We were really annoyed by that movie.
Me: Not that movie Cherry, please spare us today. (I did a begging sign 🙏)
Ellain: Not today Cherry. That movie hurts me, why did Jack die ?? If you want to watch it you will watch it alone.
Me: Yes! (We ganged up on her and she was left speechless)
Ellain: Lets watch a Nigerian movie (She suggested)
Me: 2 Rats!! (I really like this movie, its AWESOME)
Ellain: Ok, Cherry ? (She was looking at Cherry with questioning eyes)
Cherry: Yes lets watch it.
Me: Thats more like it sis.
Ellain: Arti take my laptop on the table. (I took it and then she turned it on and started to play the movie)
We watched the movie and we would laugh there and then. We then zoned off in Ellains' room and we ended up sleeping there. On most Fridays we usually do this and these are the best times of my life I cherish a lot. Sister bonding time is the best I tell you.
So it was now weekend and which means family time through out. My mom always gave all our maids weekends off so they only worked on week days. On weekend we would do the house chores together as a family including my father😂. This is why our family is forever united. We spend time together and we don't let anything get in the way of our family time.
Most parents nowadays thinks that children need money and material things to be happy and they think that giving them those things will make them happy. But to be honest, what us children need is things that money can't buy. We want our parents to spend quality time with us showing us love and affection. We need their attention. Money and things they may buy are just wants not needs. We can live without those things but we can't live without their love, we will be broken inside.
So this is how my weekends were like, this is one of the reasons why I never wanted to go to boarding school. Look at what I would have been missing out.
The weekend was over and this is the last week we will be going to holiday lessons. I will miss Lenti so much, I don't even want to think about it. So I prepared for the lesson and I went to Jayden's crib to fetch him since I was very early today. I found aunt watching Zee World. She really loved Indians.
Me: Aunty !!! (I screamed running towards her and I gave her a big hug)
Her: My baby! (She said hugging me with her warm and fuzzy clothes ]
Me: How are you aunty.(breaking the hug)
Her: Im good baby, how is my sister doing. (Refering to my mom)
Me: She is great, she sent her regards.
Her: Great, Jayden!!! (She screamed for Jayden to come down)
Jayden: Yes mom im coming!!! (He walked down looking all cute as always. When he saw me he ran to me and hugged me)
Me: Hey bro! (Hugging him back)
Jayden: Hy sis! Lets go (He said grabbing his bag)
Me: Bye aunt.
Jayden: Bye mom.
Her: See you my babies. Take care of each other ok.
Us: Sure! (We walked out and then we got to Mr Dube's house)
We were early as always and I knew that Lenti will be late by 2 minutes on 4-5 minutes. This week we were writing mock exams and I was more than happy for that. I don't mean to blow my own horn but I am very brilliant and I study hard to get good results though, I wasn't born intelligent. We write today's test and we submitted it and went home with Lenti accompanying us. He said Alvin had a splitting headache so he couldn't make it . I don't know why but Princess looked worried after she heard that. I think its because they get along well. So we talked and laugh till we arrived home and Lenti went back home. I wonder where he even stays but he just told me its 3 streets away from Mr Dube's house. So if its that near why is he always late? Funny!
Lanton POV
Its been really great spending time with Shennie. I must say I feel so blessed to have known her even if its been for a short while but it was all fun. I don't know how I am going to survive without her at boarding school. She made this drastic change in my life that I can't even explain it.
We have a lot of things in common except that she is a Man United fan. I know her more than before now. Let me tell you a little I know about her so far. Her favourite colour is purple💜. She loves exotic food, I wonder why she is thin then, She also told me that her second name is Arti and her family likes to call her by that name, she told me that she is related with Jayden and this other day she even spend the night at Jayden's place.
She loves her family so much, most of the time she will be telling me about her family and I know that she has 2 sisters and she lives with both her parents. How lucky she is to have a perfect family whilst me I don't even know which one is my real home. The one we left in South Africa?? Or the one father lives in Victoria Falls?? Or my grandpa's house??I feel more sorry for my little sister Kaylin she barely knows dad, she only sees him on photos and when he skype us. It hurts me sometimes but I can't change destiny. If destiny wants me to be here then I let it be and I am grateful that destiny took me here or else I wouldn't have met Shennie.
Last day of the holiday lessons
Its been a great time of my life. I should say that Shennie is now my best friend. I don't know why, but I feel this huge connection I have with her. It might seem absurd but thats the truth and I will really miss her cute smile and her company. I woke up and I had bloodshot eyes . My eyes becomes red whenever i am angry or very sad and gloomy , so I think that I am very sad and it was written in my face. My mom said that I got it from my father cause the same thing happens with him So today Kaylin was coming back from my aunt's place who lives 50 km away from us. She spent the whole holiday there. I found my mom in the living
room watching a live show.
Me: Good morning mom. (I said with a sleepy voice)
Mom: OMG! Lenti what happened? Your eyes are all red. (She was very worried and the last thing I wanted was to worry her)
Me: Nothing mom. I am fine. (I gave her a faint smile)
Mom: Did I do anything wrong Lenti please don't lie to me. I know you better than that. (She really knows me but this time this is not anger this is sadness. But if I had to tell her that im sad, I would have to explain why I am sad too so I had to make this convesation end)
Me: Im really fine mom. Remember Kay is coming back today. (Trying
to change the topic)
Mom: Yes and you are not going to be the baby any more. (Was she supposed to even remind me about that. I know that when Kaylin is around, I wont be doing all this being a momma's boy and all . I had to be a big brother.)
Me: MXM I know mom. I am going to bath now. (I left her laughing and I ran upstairs and I did all the necessary hygene)
I was done now and I went downstairs and mom had prepared food for us, it was only the two of us, grandpa had visited his long distant friend and he will be coming back next week and I will be already at school by then. We ate our breakfast and I helped mom with the dishes. I then set with her watching these boring live shows. My mind had shifted already , I was just thinking about Shennie and all the beautiful moments we had together. This was going to be the longest day of my life. Alvin came to take me and we started to walk.
Me: I wish the holiday was a bit longer. (I was whining)
Alvin: Me too. I will miss Princess so much. (I thought I was the only one who was going to miss this holiday lessons.)
Me: I can't imagine how its going to be without Shennie. (We were both in our feelings and hurt)
Alvin: Its a shame that we don't go to the same school as them.
Me: Where does Princess learn.
Alvin: She is a boarder at a school in Karoi.
Me: Hey thats pretty far.(Karoi is very far away from where we live. It takes 4 hours to get there when you are travelling at a maximum speed of 180-200 km per hour.)
Alvin: Yah I know. She said that her father forced her to learn there because he thinks that its the greatest school MXM. (He sulked)
Me: Too bad..
We arrived and we revised the last test and I passed most of questions I didn't get a mark that was below 85% but eish Shennie is too intelligent she never got a mark below 92%. Beauty with brains huh. So we said our goodbyes and thanked Sir Dube for teaching us. We then walked Shennie, Jay and Princess home as always and I was with Shennie now. I can't believe that this is our last time walking like this.
Me: Hey. (To her)
Shennie: Hey. (She answered back and then there was an awkward silence between us and it was clear that we were both hurting)
Me: (I cleared my throat and said) If you become like this Shennie how am I going to be ok when I am gone.
Shennie: Im not liking this but Lenti.(she said this with a breaking voice )
Me: So do I, but we can't do anything about it. Its not in our hands any more. (I was trying my best to be strong for her)
Shennie: Yes I know but I will miss you so much Lenti. You are my friend and what if you find new friends and forget me. (She was now hurting me deeply, I could never forget her.)
Me: You know that I will never forget you and its not like we will never meet again remember we are in the same neighborhood. (I tried to make her a little relieved but she was not buying it)
Shennie: Promise. (She gave me her pinky finger and I pinky promised her)
Me: I will come to see you one day and I know where your real house is. (She looked flabbergasted. I don't know why she lied about where she lived but Jayden was the one who showed me her real home, it was even more beautiful than Jayden's house. So why did she lie?)
Shennie: Ummm im really sorry for lying to you, I don't even know why I lied. (She looked very sincere)
Me: Its ok, just don't lie to me in the future ok?
Shennie: I won't, its a promise. (She really meant it, I could read through her eyes.)
So we finally arrived at her real home, we don't know where the others where and we really didn't care cause right now its only me and her. We stood outside their gate.
Me: So this is it. (I tried so hard to hide my emotions)
Shennie: I guess..(She began to sob and I had no idea what to do I just grabbed her and gave her a tight hug)
Me: Its ok Shennie, I promise I will come and see you soon. Its not like I am dying or what.
Shennie: I know but it wasn't supposed to end like this. (She said inbetween the sobs)
Me: Nothing ended Shennie. And it will never end .We are what they call best friends forever ok.
Shennie: Ok. ( she broke the hug)
Me: Bye and please take care.
Shennie: Don't forget me friend.
Me: Never.
Shennie: Stay safe.
Me: Just for you. I will. I will come back for you.
Those were the last words and they echoed in my mind as I was walking away.
Shennie POV
I can't believe that this is my last day with Lenti. It hurts but its the truth. I don't know why separating with him hurt me so much my heart felt so heavy. The lesson went well and I just wanted the day to be longer so that I will have more time with Lenti. But I can't hide away from the truth I had to face reality.
We had our last lesson and I must say Mr Dube is a great teacher, it was great having him as our tutor this holiday. I hated holiday lessons but now I had a very good reason to like them so much just because of Lenti. I have something to tell my friends at school when they ask me about my holiday, I will tell them about Lenti my new friend.
When we walked home I was hurting. I was so shocked when Lenti told me that he knew our real house and I was so embarassed at the same time. I just apologised cause I didn't know what to do. Lenti's last words are still ringing in my mind "I WILL COME BACK FOR YOU". Those were the only words I hold onto right now till I see him again, if I get to ever see him.

So many questions must be running in your minds right now..like Is this the end of Lenti and Shennie?? Will Lenti keep his promise?? Will Shennie wait patiently or will she give up?? What about Alvin and Princess, is destiny also on their side?? The master question, Whats going to happen next??
