[You entered a new area – Axel Tower Throne Room]
'W-what the? I-is this it?! Is this the real is this it?!'
Upon entering, Kane immediately saw that the room was different from the other floors. It was an entirely different room from the other quarters, including the rooms from the other Towers.
The room looked like some kind of church because of the multiple mosaic windows and its gothic-styled structure. And this room was even a lot more spacious than all of the other chambers that Kane entered.
The large circular transparent window at the end of the cathedral brightened the room by allowing the light to pass through. Kane could even see the whole Miranda Kingdom through that window except that someone was blocking his view. It was a man sitting on a gold plated seat.
Kane could feel his nervousness seeping in.
'What the hell? This is finally the boss? I only have 16 familiars left on my side.'
With the lack of a proper arsenal to face the final boss, Kane had to deal with this room with a different approach. He walked toward the sitting man, and then Kane kneeled.
"My King. I arrived."
Kane took the path of an idiot, hoping for the King to at least grant him a reward for being the first person to ever climb his Tower. But the King started laughing.
"Hahaha! What's with this? Do you wish to get your reward by bowing to me?"
"Uhhh, yeah. Aren't you lonely! I'm the very first person to ever believed you're here! No one did! I'm the first person to ever climbed this Tower for you, my King!"
"You're not the first one."
"Yes, correct. I'm the f-wait? What? I'm not the first one?"
When Kane thought that he broke another world record, Arcadia's harsh world replied that he was still not worthy of that attention.
"Precisely, boy. Not only that, the first one before you actually climbed this Tower properly. He killed my summoned monsters all by himself and climbed up to this Floor without relying on my Familiars."
But Kane was not backing down.
"Let's just say, I was creative, and I deserve creativity points for climbing your Tower that way. I still climbed the Tower out of the 5 billion players that were playing this game. Give me my reward!"
"Just because you reached this place, that doesn't mean a jester liked you is worthy of the rewards that I'll bestow. You still nee—"
BANG!
Without even letting him finish speaking, Kane took out his Galaxion Gunner and immediately fired at the King's chest.
"Just like what the books said about you, unlike your brothers, you are weak and mostly relied on your summons. Let's get this over with."
However, the King seemed to be unharmed and glared at Kane.
"Hehehe. What a fascinating fool."
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Kane fired a set of shots at him, but Axel immediately jumped back and hid behind his armored chair.
CHING! CHING! CHING! CHING! CHING!
Kane was perplexed upon seeing a hundred of gates appearing around him. Aside from that, multiple health bars also emerged from the gates, and one massive health bar appeared on top of Kane's screen.
Spirit of King Axel Mavencrown LVL 100
HP: [?/?]
Axel came out of hiding and joined the hundreds of monsters that came from the portal.
"Now, this festivity has commenced!"
Axel Mavencrown.
Unlike his brothers, Axel was said to be more of an adventurer rather than a ruler. He spent most of his time hunting down and taming monsters that conquering lands.
Because of that same attitude, the so-called Axel Tower was also different from his brothers' Towers. Instead of the standard Tower composed of 100 floors or less, Axel's Tower was up to the 1003rd Floor.
Axel originally made it up to 1001 Floors to annoy the players that thought he would be on the 1000th Floor.
However, Axel still stepped up his game that he moved it to the 1002nd Floor and then to the 1003rd Floor.
And it was effective. It was effective since people had always believed that the top of this Tower didn't exist. Not only that, but Axel also fooled persistent people like Kane that he abandoned some of his Familiars.
With only a few Familiars left on his side, Kane had to face Axel and the variety of monsters that Axel summoned.
Wolves, bears, golems, giant birds, and giant mushrooms swarmed at Kane like they were on war, charging at a particular fortress. With thousands of monsters approaching him, Kane couldn't stand still as the ground shook like an earthquake.
"Shit! How can I survive this shit?!"
BAM!
In just a second, large fractions of the monsters were sent flying by Kane's Familiars. Seeing that, Kane jumped back to the entrance of the room and aimed his gun at Axel.
BANG!
"Uggghh!"
Kae was the one who got shot. Axel, who was calmly sitting on his royal chair, had a pistol in his hand. With a couple of days climbing the Tower, Kane already mastered aiming with his rifle. But it was hard aiming and dodging someone who also had a gun.
"Luckily, I'm still alive! Wait for me, bastard! I'm gonna take you off that seat!"
Using his ridiculous speed, Kane dashed through the crowd of monsters and Familiars to reach Axel.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Axel tried to stop him, but none of his bullets landed on the swift-moving Paragon. Seeing that Kane couldn't be stopped, Axel stood up and tapped his chair.
The golden chair suddenly moved and formed itself into a large golden golem.
Kane was surprised that he stopped approaching the laughing King.
"Hahaha! You thought you're the only creative one!"
Axel jumped more to the back and then summoned another set of portals. Not knowing what would Axel summon from the portals, Kane was forced to retreat and went back to the edge of the room.
BANG!
Kane took the chance to shoot Axel while retreating.
CLANG!
A knight suddenly blocked the attack with its own head to save his King. It instantly killed the Knight, which turned into ashes.
BANG!
Kane fired another one, but a lizardman blocked it this time.
[You killed Summoned Knight Familiar LVL 50]
[You killed Summoned Lizard Familiar LVL 50]
"Well, that was weird. I just killed two level 50 monsters in just one shot, and I didn't fucking level up!"
GRRRRRRRR!
Upon hearing a crumbling sound, Kane had to look behind him and witnessed one of his Familiars' death. The monsters managed to take it down to pieces.
'There goes one of my tickets to my hopes and dreams.'
[Nethalion's Eye!]
As he already spent days climbing the Tower and reading books, he had a better grasp on how to use the Nethalion's Eye.
Kane scanned at his opponents and found their weak points. However, since it was his first time facing them, no information came from the Knights and the Lizardmen. But for some reason, he could see Axel's elemental weaknesses and vital points.
Once again, Kane and Axel fired at each other. None of their attacks landed.
Thinking that the Golem might be a problem for him, Kane took out all of his Ice scrolls and used the entire bundle on the ground.
PHISSSHHH!
Half of the entire room became frozen, and it suddenly started snowing.
'I need to be careful. I already got hit once. I'll die again if that shitty level 100 King hit me again.'
Kane, who got used to the icy Floor, easily traversed through the crowd of monsters and reached Axel with the help of his transcendent speed.
PAK! Cough!
Kane successfully punched Axel in the face. The agitated Axel glared at Kane and tried to counterattack.
PAK! PAK! PAK!
But Kane was too fast. But after a few hits, Axel managed to dodge Kane's head-on attacks. Kane continued swinging his arms, but Axel managed to avoid all of them. For the first time ever, someone managed to dodge his head-on attacks.
'What? What is this?'
Kane continued punching Axel.
PAKKKK!
Suddenly, Kane was punched in the face.
'Fuck…'
This forced Kane to retreat for a few steps.
"Are you surprised? I thought you said I was weak on the books?"
"W-what the? I-is that fake news?"
The flustered Kane tried to think about how he could survive while the overconfident King was closing on him.
"It wasn't entirely wrong. Yes. I am weak compared to my brothers. But I am not weak. I am a King, remember? I reigned over the lands over a thousand years ago!"
Kane was shocked that Axel managed to evade his attacks, but he was more shocked that he managed to survive a punch from a level 100.
'What's with that stupid speech? I survived after receiving multiple attacks from him despite I'm only level 24. He's definitely weak compared to other level 100 characters.'
Axel opened his hand and summoned a red liquid enclosed in a vial on his hands.
"Wait, what? Is that a potion? You could summon potions?"
"Hell yeah! Come and stop me."
Kane attacked Axel to stop him from drinking the potion.
PAK! PAK! PAK!
PAK! PAK! PAK!
The two of them managed to land some attacks at each other. After receiving a couple of punches, Axel jumped away and summoned another potion while Kane was just blankly staring at him.
'I'm still alive. That King was really as fuck. But I wonder how many more attacks can I endure.'
While Axel was drinking his potion, Kane took out his Attack Scroll, the last item on his inventory, and activated it on himself, doubling his attacks.
Kane clashed with Axel once again.
PAK!
Axel punched Kane first in the face. He tried to jab him again in the stomach, but Kane sidestepped and punched Axel instead.
PAK!
[Critical hit!]
A red aura was suddenly being released from Axel's body. The ground started shaking as another one of Kane's Familiar had died.
Upon looking at his Familiars, Kane observed that the monsters suddenly boosted their attack speed and attack damage after absorbing the red aura that Axel was releasing.
"Enrage mode?! It means he's low!"
Kane shifted his gaze back at Axel as he could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. However, before Kane reached him, Axel managed to drink a potion and regained a large sum of his health.
Still, Kane didn't stop and unleashed a blow on Axel's chest.
BAM!
But a lizardman leaped in front of Axel and took the damage.
BANG!
"Ugh! Damn it!"
Axel fired a gun at the lizardman that protected him. The bullet passed through its body, hitting Kane.
[Critical Hit]
Kane jumped away, which gave another chance for Axel to drink his potion. At this point, another one of Kane's Familiars got destroyed. Kane was perplexed upon seeing that he now had to face the fully healed Axel in his Enraged Mode. With nearly running out of options, Kane jumped back to the entrance of the room to assess his situation.
"I was hit a few times. How much mo— what is this?!"
Kane250 LVL 24
HP: [107445/332450]
"Why do I have over 300,000 HP?"
Axel started laughing.
"I knew it. You're a funny guy. My feelings were hurt. I've been fighting an idiot who doesn't know what he was capable of."
Kane looked at his stats and saw that it was massively amplified.
'What's going on? Why are my stats like this? Come to think of it. I did kill the Knight and the Lizard earlier in just one shot with my rifle.'
It turned out, Axel's attack wasn't weak at all. Kane's health was just big.
"It's time for the main event!"
Axel raised his arms, and three massive portals appeared behind him. They were 3 red gates. A new variety of monsters emerged from the gates. There were Giant humanoid beings equipped with a hammer, and also got two horns in their head, Centaurs, Goblins, Trolls, and even Werewolves. But Kane was utterly unaware of what was happening since he was too busy trying to figure out what happened to him.
"Huh? Is this it?"
[SPEEDRUNNER]
[Effects: Your stats will increase for an hour every time you cleared a dungeon room. The stat increase depends on how fast it was cleared. Can be stacked. Timer resets per room upon clearing.]
Because Kane only relied on his familiars and never fought while climbing the Tower, he failed to realize that his stats gradually increased because of the Speedrunner title effect. Since he cleared the rooms so fast and even cleared floors 801 up to floor 1002 in just five hours, his stats massively increased.
It was the same reason why Kane managed to kill two level 50 monsters and withstood a couple of Axel attacks.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Explosions suddenly filled the room as the goblins behind Axel started throwing unknown flasks at the Familiars. Despite finally knowing that his stats were massively boosted, Kane couldn't smile as only 3 of his Familiars remained. Axel walked forward and stared down at Kane.
"I knew someone would eventually exploit my Familiars. But it pains me to see that I'll just give the rewards to someone who exploited the situation after thousands of years of waiting. That is why only a true champion will be able to clear this Tower. Are you that person?"
Kane stared at Axel and his massive army behind him.
Author's Note: The current latest chapter is Chapter 80. But due to the word limit, I'm still trying to find a way to continue posting here. On the other hand, if you're tired of waiting, you can find the other chapters on Wattpad.
