She had done it. Never have I seen someone so stubborn. Not only did she challenge me in front of everyone, she had really brought five concubines in and given them titles. I wish she would have just asked or at least started a fight so that I could explain what had really happened. But once again, she was acting so calm about the matter and had drawn her own conclusion.
It didn't matter to me. She had married them for me but she would have to kill me before I will visit any of their rooms for the night.
"Your Highness, you have been reading memorials all night. How about you retire?" A eunuch asked
Without me saying anything, everyone knew not to mention anything about those women. I didn't ask for any concubine.
"Go ahead. I still want to read for a while. And the empress?" I asked
"The empress has gone to bed" The eunuch said
