"Mama! Look! I got in!" I squealed in happiness as my grandmother's eyes lit up, as cliche as it sounds, i got in one of the famous universities of the nearest city near us.
"Oh! Really?! Oh, my sweet bonbon!" She excitedly pants. hurriedly pushing the wheel of her wheelchair as i stopped her mid-way.
"Mama, please no." I shook my head as i faced her, crouching down her level. The doctor already told her to not to exhaust herself, but due to how stubborn my grandmama is, she's making me look more of a grandmother than her.
Her leg was paralyzed due to her Gaullain Barre Syndrome and had to ride a wheelchair, but of course, me and my cousin Amethyst had always taken care of her.
Speaking of Amethyst, where is that dumb dumb..?
"Amethyst!" I called as a pair of footsteps was heard from upstairs to see the girl with the glasses worn on her forehead jumping down the stairs.
"Yes?" She innocently asked as i facepalmed, she's been making ruckus upstairs and now i'm asking her the reason why, she responds with a simple innocent 'yes?'
"Don't you yes me young lady, what were you doing upstairs?" I nagged and sternly pointed at her as she only gave me a stank face.
"Don't you young lady me too! I'm older than you geez.." She rolled her eyes as i rolled mine, even a passerby who'd lay their eyes at us for the very first time would assume that you're younger than me.
I decided to not say that.
"And what mishaps have i done again to warrant your nagging, your highness?" She jokingly teased as i scoffed through my nostrils.
Wait till she finds out i'll not be nagging at her no more.
"You better not make a mess, because i'm leaving tonight!" I said as her ears perked up and whipped her head at me. Oh dear, there she is with her pleading teary eyes.
As expected. *insert a disney villain laugh*
"Y-You're leaving?!" Her eyes widened but shortly softened after as her voice went high, i pursed my lip, shrugging my shoulders to do a little dance as i reached my hand out to show her the letter i got.
"I got accepted and.." I slowly curved a smile smiled and showed her the paper. "..tada! I'm moving to Mountainridge!" I added with a small squeal.
"Oh my god! Cleavon! You did it! You finally did it!" She squealed and jumped onto me as i grunted carrying the both of us, i swore to god i'll be the one riding my grandmother's wheelchair before i can even leave the town.
"Y-Yeah.. you can let go of me now.." I patted her shoulder and grunted as she finally hopped off and cheekily smiled.
"Sorry! Got too excited!" She wiped a tear as i giggled. "You're amazing! That's amazing rather! You were praying for this for years! You got in!" She croaked out in joy.
"You'll come to visit us right?" Mama spoke as i smiled and crouched as she caressed my cheek, i held her wrinkly hands caressing them too.
"Of course! On holidays i'll be having a small vacation and i'll keep you guys updated, i vowed to never forget you two." I gave them a sad smile as they gave me the same.
"Oh, come on! We're really going to miss you, but this is your chance!" Amethyst squealed excitedly as i squealed with her. It is, it is really.
"Yes, i know.. i know." I raised both of my palms as she patted my head. "I'm just.. worried.. about you two! I'll be on the next city and you two will be left alone here!" I added, i started doubting my decisions.
I was finally on another point of my life who's picking between two hard choices, but i had to choose something i wouldn't regret, family? or dreams?
I stared at the opened letter on my grasp.
"Shush! Who do you think we are? Who do you think raised us, huh?! You're a strong woman and we are too! We can handle ourselves, clea." Amethyst held her lips in a mother-like manner, sending me a playful glare.
"And and-! Remember when a raccoon entered our yard and destroyed my crops? I almost walked that day! It was a miracle!" Grandma huskily chortled, we both turned to chuckle at her.
"You got injured after that, ma." I sent her a frown as she gently shook her head.
"I just want you to know that me and your cousin amethyst will be fine here! Protecting us will be permanent, but your chance for your dreams are temporary!" Mama stated as Amethyst nodded on every word, i slowly curved a small smile.
"It will not be permanent anymore if something ha--"
"Let's go pack! Chop chop!" She cuts me off before wrapping her arms around my shoulder, pulling me towards the stairs.
Cleavon's POV
I started packing with my cousin helping me as Amethyst suddenly initiated a conversation.
"Cleavon." She called, i turned my head towards her, waiting for her to talk. "You should stop worrying about us and worry about yourself, you know?" She added, i only stayed silent, waiting for her to continue furthermore. "That's a city, this is a province. It's different. It will be not be easy liv--"
"Amethyst, i'll be fine. I'm a grown up now, just like you and everybody else, i can handle myself." I sighed, slipping in my folded clothes to my large bag.
"It's not that! Not only living there in general is the only hard thing about it, bonbon. Adapting there, adapting on that new peculiar environment would give you such a hard time especially if you're still not--"
"Stop being so pessimistic, amie. Nothing bad will happen, i proclaim that. Please believe in me just this once. I'll be fine there, really." I deadpanned, as she then stayed silent in defeat as we continued on unpacking the room.
A few moments later, we finally finished and looked around the almost empty room.
"How about you eat dinner here?" Amethyst smiled as i quirked a brow. "Your last dinner?" She added, my lips curved in a small smile as i nodded.
We then carried my luggage downstairs as Amethyst quickly sprinted to the kitchen, probably going to cook on behalf of my departure.
I stretched making my bones crack as i sat on the couch where Mama is. I glanced at my grandmother beside me who is sewing a red scarf.
"Who's that for, Grandma?" I asked and faced her, i leaned my chin on my hands, she dropped the needles and tied a small knot. She just smiled and folded it before giving it to me.
I took it and caressed the fluffy and soft cloth as i let out a small smile before facing her again.
My Grandmother had always been one of my inspirations, my motivation, one of the pieces of my world that i can't stand without.
She was one of the things i'm scared to let go off today.
"Aww~ Mama, you shouldn't have!" I hugged her as she relaxed on my touch before hugging me back.
"Aww~ Cleavon is crying again~" Amethyst who's supposed to be- or perhaps currently inside the kitchen cooed entering the leaving room and laughed mockingly.
"Shut up you cave crystal i'm having the time of my life here," I said in a high pitched tone as we all laughed. "And go watch your cooking!" I added.
"Take care okay? Don't tire yourself and always wear scarfs and carry hot packs on your bag so you won't get a cold when the weather gets in a bad mood!" Mama states, pointing at my scarf as i let out a silent chuckle and nodded.
Me and Amethyst locked gazes, i know that she was saying the same thing to me behind her gaze as well.
"Take care of yourself, that's all that matters."
==================
I glanced outside the afternoon sky and sighed for the nth time today, i gazed pleasantly at the warm mellow sunlight that tickled my face from the window, i exhaled sharply.
"Nice view there, clea." Amethyst suddenly appeared beside me as she wiped her wet hands because she washed the dishes earlier, of course, on behalf of my departure.
"I'll miss this view." I sighed and looked at her, smiling as she chuckled and ruffled my soft black hair.
"As you should." She patted my head before walking off. "Let's go or you'll miss the bus, missy." She looked by her shoulder, towards the bags outside the front door.
I took a deep breath and finally walked towards the exit, i looked around for the last time, grazing my eyes all around the house for the last time as i finally stepped outside where Amethyst and Mama is with my bags.
I felt my eyes swelling in tears as my bottom lip quivered.
"Oh come on don't cry or i will lock you in my room and never let you go to that university, bonbon." Amethyst crossed her arms as i let out a soft and small laugh before shaking my head.
"I'm really going to miss you guys but i also have to leave early to find a place to stay.." I looked down on my shoes as someone gently grabbed my arm. I looked up to see my grandmother.
"We understand.. it's your life now and you can make all the decisions you want while you're still young." Grandma smiled and softly patted my cheek. I held her wrinkly hands feeling them for the last time because i'm surely going to miss this.
I think that my first night in that new town would be full of tears and just staring at our photo together.
"Yeah, Grandmama is right and i know you're impulsive when it comes to decisions." Amethyst facepalmed as i glared at her.
"No, i am not!" I was about to smack her when she laughed and blocked.
"Why are you two fighting when our baby is leaving?!" Grandma exclaimed as we rubbed our napes like little kids being scolded by their parents.
A peep interrupted us as i looked behind to see the bus arriving as it parked by the bus stop, i took a deep breath, grabbing my bags as i secured them on my shoulders.
As i was about to walk towards the bus i quickly stopped on my tracks, sprinting towards the two engulfing them with a tight hug as i finally jogged towards the bus, the door slid open as i inserted my card on the device to pay, pressing the Mountainridge City button as my destination.
I quickly sat on the seats near the window, placing my bags beside the vacant seat beside me before looking out the bus window.
Amethyst with My Grandmother who had wide proud smiles on their faces waved their hands at me in goodbye as i waved back, i felt all my resisting tears flew and flew continuously down my cheeks after.
And into a new chapter, we go.
