In this city traffic was horrid. So, in my case, walking to work was faster than driving to work or relatively the same speed if traffic was on my side. "Lucis." One of the twins called out to me. Luckily their demeanors were different so I could kind of guess who it was. Surprisingly, it was the quiet Delilah initiating the conversation. She walked up with her petite build nervously. "Sorry about last night again." She said. Just when I was trying not to worry about it, it became relevant very quickly. I had an excuse not to know what she was talking about since she was being so vague. "Sorry for what exactly?" She looked as if she realized her mistake of not telling me what she was talking about in particular but then looked very shy all of a sudden. Her sister was just silent for once, likely listening to us with those fox ears. "You know...last night when we made it home...and we took you in your house and put you in bed. Then you..." and she stopped, looking like her head would explode if she said any more. I couldn't help but make a confused expression at her. I now had to make a decision, if I tell her I don't know what she's talking about, it will be the truth but she may just die of embarrassment at that point. If I lie about it though, I'll be lying however I might just save a life! A risk worth taking. Also I can play it to my advantage. "Oh- Oh yeah! You laid me in bed... I was so drunk, the memory is still kind of fuzzy." Her sister, Tiana, started laughing out of nowhere. "Geez, why are you two so awkward! I'm starting to feel embarrassed by how you're acting now." Tiana said before snickering a little more. That was likely the finishing blow on Delilah's courage as she drifted behind me from that point on. However, as if they used a switch maneuver, Tiana was now next to me on my other side. She only had one thing to say however. "Hey." She'd whisper. "Can we talk privately once we get to work?" Under normal circumstances that would be an odd thing to ask on someone's second day of work but these weren't normal circumstances. I just nodded my head in agreement. After that the remaining walk to work was silent.
Once we made it there, we were the only ones there as Moira was late as usual. It was easy to slip out of the room with Tiana once we settled in to work. We walked out of the room and into the hallway. We decided to go to the end of the hall at a dead end since it would have the least amount of traffic and 'walls' couldn't listen as well there. "So?" I wondered why she wanted to talk alone. "You don't remember a thing do you?" She asked. I broke a sweat. She just smiled as if already having heard my answer. "I knew it. Listen... when does your memory fail you?" Well the cat was already out of the bag so "Probably when I was taking you both home." She seemed to almost do a spit take. She held it in however and cleared her throat. "Uhm well... I can fill you in but I don't know everything that happened since I left. Anyway, when you took us home, you said something about us being neighbors. So when we were at our doors, you were fumbling with your keys so Delilah went over to help you go inside. I held the door for you two so you could go in but I didn't go inside with you. What I did do was stay up until Delilah came back. She was glowing..." Upon hearing that I gulped. Isn't that what people say after they've had sex? Tiana continued "Her clothes were all on incorrectly and some of the buttons on her blouse were ripped. I asked her about it but she couldn't even answer me. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" She asked as if there was any other thing to think! "Of course I am! Aww man what did I do?! It was the first day! I feel like one of those sleazy guys that try to sleep with every woman he sees!" She quickly decided to tell me "Hey, isn't that offensive against those type of guys? To call them sleazy?" She was right but "Well it's the truth isn't it?! All the signs were there too! The blood and the hair." Tiana then gave me a smug gaze. "Hmmm? You went that far with her huh? No wonder she was so embarrassed last night. So it's true you two did it." All the signs were pointing in that direction so I nodded. "Then maybe you should try dating her. How about I find somewhere you two can talk privately during lunch break?" Wait dating? "Yep I'm just going to go ahead and do that. This is so exciting!" She then ran off before I could even give her my opinion.
Moira eventually arrived and we worked through our day. I could barely focus and anytime I needed to go to Delilah for something, she wouldn't even look me in the eye.
Then Lunch time came. Moira was about to call out to me for eating lunch together as usual, however Tiana quickly grabbed myself and Delilah to leave with us. Am I really about to ask my new coworker out? This is much too fast isn't it? We went into the elevator and Tiana hit the top floor. "Where are we going?" I asked. "The roof" she responded. I could have sworn you needed a key to get up there. We made it to the door with our lunches in hand and Tiana fiddled with the handle before I heard the familiar click of a door unlocking. She opened the door with a grin on her face. What kind of past made her learn a skill like that. Once we made it past the doorway we ended up sitting right in the middle of this gated roof. We silently started silently eating until Tiana randomly said "So are we going to talk about how you guys did it?" I almost choked. Tiana laughed while Delilah looked a bit worried. After clearing my throat Delilah would say "Well, is there anything to say? It happened and it's over." My pride took a nice hit in the gut. Tiana would talk after her though. "Hmm is that really how it is?" She'd say a little bit aggressively at the end. It seemed that they had some silent twin communication with each other for a moment before Delilah sighed and said "Hey, Lucis. Get us some drinks from the vending machine down stairs." What a way to make me leave temporarily. They apparently needed to talk about something privately. So I got up and left to go down stairs. I wonder what they had to talk about though? It was probably something to do with me right? Did something else happen that night? As I made it halfway down the stairs I realized that I didn't ask them what they wanted to drink. So I turned around and started walking back up. When I made it to the door I heard something. The twins were arguing. "-so that's why you said it like that?" Said one of them I heard through the door. "Well you said we would share everything and he is included! This is why switching isn't always good." Wait switching. She said switching? Sharing? What are they talking about? They continued. "You won't mind then right? We have to share him too." After a short pause the other would say "deal". Deal? What deal? Are they talking about me? What the heck are these twins up to? They'll think it's odd if I'm gone for too long.
