Two days to New Year.
She woke up to the buzzing of her cellphone on the side table. She groaned and turned it on. It was 7:15 on the clock. 15 minutes for her alarm to go off. She rubbed her eyes and tried to concentrate on what was on the screen. There was a text message and 2 missed calls from an unknown number. She cleared all notifications and put it back on the table where it was before and shut her eyes off.

She exited the elevator and started walking towards her place. She was in the hallway when a girl collided with her and all the things she was holding fell down on the floor. "Oh, I'm really sorry." She apologized and helped her pick up her stuff. It was Mindy.
"It's okay." She monotonously said.
"I've never seen you around… Are you new here?" Penelope asked.
"I – uhh… I am from the other floor." She gave her a tight-lipped smile and moved past her quickly. Penelope found her weird but shrugged anyways and walked towards her desk.
