"I see you still lack manners even after such a long time has passed. Some people never mature it seems" a woman with horns protruding from her forehead stepped forward and signaled the guards not to take action.
Through the minotaur guards' obedience Yue Chen could guess the identity of the woman that had stepped forward. She was none other than the Security chief that Xian Fei had mentioned. Unlike the minotaur guards who had the upper body of animals Chief guard Ru appeared mostly human with the exception of her feet and a tail that would occasionally sway from side to side. Yue Chen took note of her towering frame that easily overshadowed him and was instantly amazed.
Chief Guard Ru's gaze shifted amongst the group then to Yue Chen "Have we met before? "
"Are you talking .....to me?" Yue Chen asked in confusion. "I don't think we've actually met. This is my first time visiting"
Chief Guard Ru narrowed her eyes at Yue Chen doubtfully before letting out a sigh. Turning to her subordinates she ordered them to allow the group's passage.
"Follow me, the Master has a branch pavilion in this city ran by the races residing here, we can stay there for the duration we're in the city" Xian Fei stated as she made her way further into the city.
The City of Pasts was unlike any city Yue Chen had entered before. The Streets were made of an unknown material that seemed to become harder the more force applied to it, making it close to indestructible . The streets were filled with beings of various races that appeared to live in perfect harmony. Even in human cities there were countless minor fights that would occur on a daily basis so this was a level of peace was new to him.
Yue Chen whom had become enamored by the tranquility of the city was suddenly awakened from his stupor by the ring on his finger which had suddenly become active. It was as if there was someone....or something that was calling to him.
"Xian Fei take everyone to the Blood Sword Pavilion's Branch residence, I'd like to look around for a bit" without receiving Xian Fei's response Yue Chen made off into the distance.
Xian Fei who was about to deny Yue Chen's request frowned before continuing in the direction of the Blood Sword Pavilion.
After walking around for a few minutes Yue Chen was able to come to a conclusion: the closer he was to whatever it was that was calling to the ring the stronger the attraction grew and so by following the ring's behavior Yue Chen arrived at a huge building that seemed to be heavily guarded. Unlike the entrance of the city that had four guards this building was guarded by twice as many with even minotaur guards standing nearby. Was this the place? After a moment of weighing the chances of him attracting unwanted troubles Yue Chen decided to rejoin the group at the Blood Sword Pavilion.
"Uhm, excuse me"
Just as he was about to take his leave Yue Chen felt a tug on his clothes and turned to the person next to him. It was a young woman with a single horn protruding from her forehead and long silver hair. If not for her almost deathly pale skin and the horn on her head Yue Chen would have mistaken her for a human.
"That ring on your hand...." the woman continued "It's mine"
Yue Chen's eyes widened in surprise and he slowly chose his next words in fear he was making a mistake "Have you ever heard of a man by the name Yue SoRan?"
The woman's expression darkened at Yue Chen's words "Yue SoRan.....was my-"
"Lady Ris!" a burly man bearing similar feature to the young woman ran to her side, his sword drawn "how could you leave the family without your guards?"
The woman frowned then turned to Yue Chen "would you care to come with me to my courtyard?"
Yue Chen trembled in anticipation. This woman knew who his father was and if his guess was right this woman might even be his own mother. Yue Chen opened his mouth to respond but was immediately cut off by the guard standing next to Lady Ris.
"My Lady, allowing a human, an outsider no less onto our sacred family grounds is unacceptable even for you, the Clan Leader, the branch families are constantly on the lookout for a chance to usurp your power, housing a human is the same as putting your position on a platter and offering it to the branch families! " the guard said in a concerned tone.
Lady Ris let out a deep breath and turned away from her guard's gaze "Let them have it, had my sister not revoked her candidacy I would have never become chief and this position only fell onto my lap due to the attempted assassination of our mother after all, what value is there in having a title that brings nothing but harm?"
The guard's expression softened and he bowed his head as he spoke "Even if that Is the case there are asuras whom have sworn loyalty to you and would lay their lives on the line to defend your honor, I hope you will take the lives of those who serve you into consideration, should there be a conflict we will die should that be your command"
"Xuehua, please do not say such foreboding thing, my walk will be ruined by your negativity" Lady Ris said as she walked away. Stopping in her tracks she turned to Yue Chen and sighed "Its seems taking you with me would present too many problems at the moment, what do you say we meet here again in two days?"
Yue Chen nodded as he processed the information he had just obtained. It had taken him forever to find traces of his parents and now it seems his effort had paid off. If he truly is in the right place it would be impossible to avoid the Shura race after all.
