Synopsis
I wrote this in 2019. it is badly written. When I'm done with The Isekai Game, imma come back and redo this book. Mostly out of fun because this is just horrible. After causing the death of his comrades and later going out on a rage, Lucas has been demoted to Corporal. Now with a chance to redeem himself, Lucas leads a team of troubled members of society to assassinate a man of extraordinary power. Will his team succeed and redeem the fruits of their labor or will they fail? And what is so important about this man who is to be assassinated anyway? By the way, this book acts as a prequel to a bigger story. I also apologize for not being able to get the artwork on here. Chapter 1 - Assemble

Lucas is sitting in the library reading a book to ease his mind. Shaking his foot and flipping through pages, Lucas could not clear his mind. A hand then came to Lucas' shoulder. Lucas' friend and Captain, Abezag of the Tristram Army stood there holding his hand out for a hand shake. Lucas shook his hand with sorrow. Captain Abezag began asking about the love novel Lucas was reading. Lucas explained it with mild interest. The two men chatted away for a bit until Captain Abezag asked Lucas to meet him in his office later that day.

Later on, Lucas stands outside of Captain Abezag's office. Captain Abezag called in Lucas asking how was lunch. Lucas who had not eaten informed the captain that he had been skipping meals as of late. Captain Abezag had then informed Lucas that he does not want to see Lucas' career fall due to a minor mistake or two. He then proceeds to giving Lucas a secret mission where he will only be able to use people from the Maverick Army. The Maverick Army is not like the regular Tristram Army. They lack discipline and any real training. Most militants in the Maverick Army were in gangs and did not care about Tristram itself. Lucas was also allowed to use slaves and convicts to his liking and had only three days to prepare.

Three days later...

Lucas walks into an old library underneath a building. There a Maverick named Zarz is seen walking around reading a book. "Do not disturb me" Said Zarz. "I have a job for you that is paying a lot of money from Tristram" said Lucas as he walked through the dusty antique library. But Zarz was not interested. Zarz was only interested in higher learning and power. Lucas then walked over and whispered into Zarz's ear. Zarz then agreed to the journey.

Later, Lucas walked into a rundown church to speak to the Pastor David. Walls were filled with mildew. The ceiling was leaking. The floors were creaking. Lucas was utterly disgusted by the filth that this church had to call home of the God Bahamut. Lucas looked and saw lines of people waiting to get rations from one of the volunteers when suddenly a young lady came to his shoulder. "Can I help you sir" asked the beautiful young volunteer. "I am looking for Pastor David regarding some work" said Lucas. "Right this way sir" said the young maiden as she walked up the stairs. Once upstairs and lead to an office where Pastor David sat, the young maiden took a bow and left Lucas alone with her pastor. "How may I help you" asked the pastor. Lucas wore a smile and then spoke "I am a corporal of the Tristram Army and I am looking to hire you for a big job". Pastor David then wore a frown and nodded his head. "Not interested" he said in a calm monotone voice. Lucas then smirked and further explained the reward consisting of the building of new infrastructure, wealth, and a higher classing as a Church of Bahamut. Pastor David then wore a smile asking "How can I refuse this offer".

As Lucas was leaving the church, a young boy then approached him. "I heard you are looking for help" help asked the boy. Lucas easily dismissed him, but the boy kept pestering Lucas. Lucas then began lightly trotting away, but the boy only kept up. The boy kept insisting that he could be of great help, but Lucas was not hearing him out. Lucas reached his car and opened the door only for it to be slammed shut by a surging wind created by the boy. While the boy was explaining his abilities on deaf ears, Lucas turned around and kicked the little boy away. He then got into his car and left. The people of the church turned a blind eye. But the boy only rose with determination.

Lucas then walk into a pub where he sees men drinking and playing cards. He sees a scrawny man laughing with a cup in his hand. "Hello Mr Vegron Dov. Do you have a minute" asked Lucas. The man stood shock for a second before he threw his cup on Lucas' face and ran. Lucas wiped the alcohol from his face and began chasing after the man as the rest of the men began yelling. The man ran out the back door and jumped onto ledges to escape Lucas. But Lucas took the easier route. Lucas held his blade at each pillar and shot out a piercing blast from his sword. The pillars began collapsing along with the ledges leading the man to a fall. Lucas walked up with a smile and stated "Mr Vegron Dov, you are coming with me for an important mission. And for compensation you will be cleared of all criminal charges on your account along with a great payment for your hard work". Vegron had no other choice but to grunt his acceptance.

Next on Lucas' list was a man named Kilkyl. Lucas walked up to Kilkyl's porch where he was seen sitting with an axe next to him, drinking a beer. "What do you want" asked Kilkyl as he took a drink. "I have a mission for you which involves tracking down and killing a man for the army for a lot of money. Are you interested" replied Lucas. Without much thought Kilkyl replied "fuck it, count me in".

At this point there was only two people left on Lucas' list. He asked Abezag for assistance in recruiting them to which he gladly agreed.

First Lucas wanted a medic from a Alke rebel group. Their people are at war with Coronia in the North East Continent and is currently seeking refuge. Abezag walked into the refugee camp held outside of Tristram near the forest. Lucas and Abezag walked across the starving half-lings in the dirt, looking specifically for a young man by the name of Ponto. Once found with his hungry wife and children laying in his lap, Lucas stood idle while Captain Abezag made a deal with Ponto to grant citizenship for his family upon the success of this one mission. And just like the others, Ponto could not refuse.

As Lucas and Abezag were driving to their final recruit when they came to a stop light. There Captain Abezag sees the little boy that was pestering Lucas earlier with a sign saying "Hire me Lucas". "Bring him along with you" said Captain Abezag. Lucas was in disbelief and instantly doubted the Captain's judgement. Abezag then explained that the boy is a refugee from the islands in the Maverick Army who was accepted due to fighting off a great snake in the ocean. While the boy's name is not remembered, he is great with magic and aspires to be a soldier and a great warrior. Lucas shook his head and stared away from the boy as the car had soon drove off.

Lucas and Abezag then arrived at a prison were orc slaves are kept chained to protect the people of Tristram from their villainous ways. As the two walked through with their prison escort, they arrived to the slave cell of Waateef. Waateef was a young orc who was shot by soldiers while defending his young orcs. Luckily the orcs of his village were killed years ago and he has low morale for anything. The cell door was opened to Waateef siting on the ground with his head hung low. "How is it going dear boy" asked Lucas. Waateef did not reply. "I come with great news" Lucas continued, "you will be freed. All you have to do is come out and kill a few people for the army for a little while and then you will be free to roam the world". "What do you say" asked Lucas. "I don't kill" replied Waateef. Lucas smirked. "What do you mean you don't kill. You have fangs and big muscles to rip bodies apart. You are over 7 feet and is only 13 years old. And you are telling me you don't kill" asked Lucas with a face of confusion. "We orcs are vegetarians" replied Waateef with a disheartening look on his face. "You're shitting me" said Lucas in disbelief. Waateef held his head low in sorrow until Lucas demanded the cage in front of Waateef's cage to be opened for him to see. There sat another male orc sitting with his head hung low. Lucas walked up with his sword and pierced through the orc's neck and cut its head off. He then looked back at Waateef and smiled. "Now you will fight and kill for your freedom or you will watch as we kill your people for fun". Waateef watched in horror and took the deal.

Early the next day, Lucas assembled his whole team at the Tristram gates to leave. Zarz held a book. David held a sword while wearing heavy armor. Vegron Dov came with a bow and a pouch full of arrows. Kilkyl carried his axe and a giant magical rocket. Ponto carried chakrams. But Waateef held no weapon. "Where is your weapon boy? I know I gave you money" said Lucas. Waateef only returned the little money Lucas gave him stating he does not use weapons to fight because it goes against his beliefs. Lucas thought it was the dumbest thing he heard, but decided to continue with a forceful smile on his face.

There was one thing off about the group. As before, there stood the young boy from the church. He wielded two wooden swords with eyes wider than the ocean. Lucas looked at him with a disgruntled glare. "If I get in your way, you can leave me behind. But I promise you I am the real deal" said the boy. The entire team including Waateef smirked off the boy and began walking out the Tristram gates. The boy then yelled "and my name is Rael"!
