Getting into his other life took him longer than he expected. For some unknown reason, even Clara's magic bed can't give Neil the right dream.
'Maybe the universe want you to focus on your studies first.' Somewhere at the back of his head stated. If it's true, then Neil need to study. Because the voice just remind him that his midterm exam is in a week.
Scrunching yet another poor piece of paper, Neil throw it to the almost full trash can. He's been trying to solve a certain math question but still didn't get the right answer.
"What the fuck is the solution?! What's the use of all the examples if none of them shows how to do something as complicated as this!" He grumbled hard to himself.
"WHO THE FUCK INVENTED MATH ANYWAY?!!"
KNOCK! KNOCK!
His doorknob turned clockwise and his mom's head popped inside. "Neil! I've heard you cursing ever since the last 15 minutes! what's wrong?" Neil sighed frustratedly, done with everything.
"You know what? screw this. I'm gonna sleep." He said, walking toward his bed. The confused mom just nod and decide to leave her son, who look like he have the burden of the world, alone.
Neil flopped on top of the bed, jumped a little and grab any pillow nearby. Hugging as many pillows he can without suffocating himself, the King of Pillows then drift into sleep.
'HURRY! THE GENERAL WILL GET MAD!'
'LIEUTENANT DIDN'T WAKE UP YET..'
'GOOD! HE'LL KICK OUR ASS IF HE WOKE UP AND SEES US HERE!'
Neil's ear twitch. what's with all the noise?? What are they panicking about?
cracking his eyes open, Neil's view is filled with other knights running around, dressing themselves up.
'?'
He took a glance outside of the window and immediately sprung up, shocking other knights that's ready to leave him behind. After a few seconds of processing, he figured what happened with them.
"You guys....," his amber eyes flashes red, glaring at those under him. Their faces paled. "S-sir.." one try to talk his way out.
"what are you doing still loitering around here?!" he half-yelled. "Have you done your morning drill?" they nodded vigorously. Neil took a look around and frowned.
"good to know. Now.. is anyone loyal enough to admit he's lying? please step forward." They didn't move. Seeing that, Neil huffed. The air thickened.
"we... don't understand,Sir."
"I said... is nobody going to admit that they skip morning drill even though your shoes are very clean from mud or dusts and your uniform isn't drenched in sweat?" his voice deep with rage.
"W-we.." He shut his eyes. The new batch of knights are way too reckless. "YOU WHAT?!" a shocked gasps filled his ears. "WE ARE VERY SORRY SIR!" they screamed. "you... do I need to send you all to real battle for you to get that MILITARY ISNT A PLAYGROUND!"
his heart beat fast with rage. If their recklessness and undisciplined behaviour continue, they going to die within minutes in battle.
"YOU THINK LYING IS A GOOD WAY?! AT THE VERY LEAST, ADMIT YOUR MISTAKE, YOU COWARD!" He yelled again. "Also, lying is the beginning of a traitor's behaviour. If you wish to serve the King," He hardened his voice.
"you must not lie. This isn't some game, you are training to serve the King. So you better take it seriously or like hell you going to survive military." Neil massage his temple. He can't deal with this right now. "Go and attend to your schedule. You're dismissed." He ordered. However, there's only silence.
feeling veins popping out. He yelled. "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!" shocked, the young knights immediately scattered around, attending to their schedule as ordered.
//3 p.m//
All the fresh knights and Neil stand firmly on the ground, facing the general. He apparently checked the field to see their morning duty only to see an empty space. He then heard of their lateness and very much unhappy about it.
"Lieutenant!" He said. Neil stepped forward. "Sir!"
"I've trusted you on keeping an eye on this youngsters. So why are they still slacking off and even abandoned their drill? Am I wrong to trust you?" He questioned. Neil breath deeply.
"I am sorry for breaking your trust,General. Unfortunately, I myself have no idea why they are late as I have also overslept." He admitted. He knows the General going to be furious because he overslept, but he have been training ever since he was a kid.
he would never lie to his superior.
The General's eye twitch. His view is spotted with red. His own son have also strayed away. He need to punish Neil. "LIEUTENANT-"
"GENERAL!" A voice stopped him. A guy in a suit approach him. In his hand, is the future of Arkivia, Princess Amelia.
"Sir Haldy." General greeted. The King's assistant nod. " The King wish for you to not punish Lieutenant Neil. He have stated that Neil's mistake was because he had attended to the King and entertained him all night last night. Lieutenant is simply very exhausted to the point he missed his schedule."
Neil gritted his teeth. Sure, he escaped his punishment, but it's because of the King. He don't like that. He knew Eric purposely did this cause the blonde guy is aware of this too. The general nod understandingly. "I see. Very well then. well, what are you doing here, Sir? I thought you already went back to your village."
"I've come to finish some matters needed. Since it's been solved, The maids and servants need to kidnap your son, General." He scrunched his eyebrows, confused.
"They have been assigned to help Lieutenant Neil with his attire and matters involved for the upcoming ceremony. The ceremony for him to be appointed as the King's personal weapon. One position that never existed before. What a change in history. " He said, delighted.
General cracked a smile. "Very well. Lieutenant! you should go now. You're dismissed." Neil nod. "Yes Sir!" The assistant walk away with Amelia sleeping soundly. Neil quickly followed after him, leaving his knights to be punished over their own foolishness.
It's not his fault they decided to sneak out and drink like there's no tomorrow. Beside...
He have a ceremony to be ready for.
