The villagers of Riverside were not having a good time. Every night, they would keep getting attacked by Lastranges. They are ugly creatures about one metre tall, big eyes and ears, bipedal, grey skin, suffer from severe hairloss and were quite brutal. They would attack the village and take the livestock they had. It had gone on for two months now and they had ran out of livestock so the Lastranges were going after children and old people. A couple had lost their newborn baby during an attack and later they found her remains lot far from the place. Distraught, the husband attacked the creatures's nest and he became dinner which meant the village was not attacked that night.
The village chief had sent a bounty to the Bounty Hunter guild and a request for help to any sect but he had not heard of anyone who was willing to help. He was looking at the destruction of his village and the death of two hundred plus people if help does not alive soon.
This night was no different. The children and the flail old people had been locked up in a bunker for their protection as the villagers were ready for war behind their crudely made spike wooden wall. They were all alert, waiting for the creauters to come, not willing to back down.
"Westward!" one of them cried out. The villagers looking over in the direction looked a little more keenly into the darkness and saw shining eyes looking at them.
"Here they come!" one shouted as the shrieks of Lastranges filled the air. They charged at the villagers holding crude weapons but they were enough to harm and kill the poor villagers.
"Stone them to death!"
They started throwing stones at the oncoming Lastranges, hitting some and missing some but that did not change their pace of charge. When one fell, he would be stomped to death by his fellow Lastranges behind him.
"They are a lot more than last time!" a villager shouted.
The Lastranges reached the wall and started hacking it. The villagers stabbed them with their stakes quite viciously, trying to slow them down to no avail.
"Bring the hot water!" the chief said. Eight villagers brought with them a large couldron filled with boiling water. Young men then started drawing the water with smaller containers and splashing the Lastranges with it, causing shrieks of pain sound all over. In the bunker, the children and old people were shivering as they heard the shrieks. Some of them knew if the people above failed and were killed, they would starve to death or the Lastranges would just kill them all like the sitting geese they were.
The Lastranges suddenly started shrieking as they made way. A larger Lastranges was walking towards the village formed in an armour of bones. The other Lastranges were shrieking happily, except those who were still being splashed with hot water. The large Lastranges picked up a stone and threw it at one young man, hitting him unconscious.
"Divines help us, it is a Rank Two Lastranges! This is why they have been attacking us, to make it breakthrough using our flesh!" the chief said.
The Lastrange roared happily before it took a charging stance. It bellowed slightly before charging IMG towards the fence. The villagers paled as they did not know what to do. Suddenly, they all saw a pale blue light appear from nowhere and hit the charging Lastranges on its head. It did not even cry out in pain as it fly forward then hit the ground and slid all the way to the wall as everyone watched in puzzlement. Then, this overcoat wearing man appeared next to it and removed a short sword from the back of its head. He turned to the villagers.
"Name's Merlin, here to take your bounty," he said before turning to the Lastranges. "You folks remind me of Eastern goblins, only more grey."
Nicklaus looked at the Lastranges as his fanboy in him attempted to show his ugly head. The reason he chose this bounty was mainly because the creatures in the bounty reminded him of Eastern goblins so he HAD to see them and possibly reinact The Goblin Slayer. The Lastranges shrieked at him and charged towards him with a vengeance so great you can see it.
"They are stupid like those goblins too," he said as he Casper his hands together. "Energy Flare." A blinding light shot out of his clasped palms and spread out to the oncoming Lastranges. When the light was dimmed, the villagers were staring at a barren ground with no Lastranges in sight. The threat that had threatened to kill them all was now destroyed in one hit. Nicklaus turned to the villagers.
"You wrote here that they have a nest, right?" he asked. They all nodded at the same time. "Any one brave enough to take me there?" The villagers looked at each other unwillingly.
"I will," the village chief said.
"Okay, let's go," Nicklaus said. The middle aged man led the way, leaving behind his village members talking to themselves.
"I'm not trying to be most but why did you help us?" the chief asked.
"I wanted to see the Lastranges for they remind me of another creature,"
"Those Eastern goblins you mentioned?" Nicklaus just grunted. He had to maintain his badass image.
"You might have heard this many times but thank you for coming. If not we would have been dinner," the chief said, sincerely. Nicklaus looked at this man and saw his gratefulness. He just nodded at him. The rest of the walk was quiet until they reached the nest which was a cave. Even from outside, you could guess it did not smell like roses.
"Good luck," the chief said. Nicklaus looked at him as if he was a fool. There was no way he was going to enter this place.
"Do they have any prisoners? Any one they use as a breeding factory for them?"
"No. Any prisoners they take they eat. They reproduce on their own," the chief said, wondering what he was thinking. Nicklaus nodded in relief and stepped closer to the mouth of the cave.
"Energy Flare," he said and light spread from his clasped palms into the cave. Nicklaus's control of his energy attacks was perfect once he got into the Legendary Realm. Before, he used his attacks as he saw them but now, he can perfectly control them for minimum damage or to maximum damage. So the Energy Flare this time was actually the most potent he ever used. After a minute, he turned it off and looked inside. The place was melting, scalding hot. The chiefhad moved a distance away from the cave due to the heat. Nicklaus nodded at himself and he turned to leave. A roar from the cave stopped him in his tracks.
"What in the world?" he asked himself. From the cave, out came a wyvern! "What the actual fuck is happening now?" The wyvern charged at him but he flew to the sky making it miss. Growling in displeasure, the wyvern roared once again, spread its wings and flew after him. Nicklaus stood still as he watched it charge at him, noticing the chief from a distance fleeing the place. The wyvern breathed fire at him but he just flew backwards out of its range, making the wyvern even more angry.
It sped up trying to catch up to him but Nicklaus charged at it at a speed it couldn't follow and punched it onto its chest, making it crash back to the ground. Before it could get up, Nicklaus stepped on its snout, making it unable to get up.
"Buddy, I guess you were the last boss in there, huh?" he asked it as he inspected its body. Most of its scales were gone and it's skin badly burnt. Its wings were also quite damaged and it was out of anger and adrenaline that was making this wyvern move. It was still struggling to get back up but he was stronger than it by far.
"I wished you were a dragon, then I would have made this battle longer. Well, good bye," he said. He removed his leg as he unsheathed his longsword as it's blade shone and brought it down onto the wyvern's neck decapitating it immediately. With a small sigh after using Sword Radiance, he sheathed the sword and put the body and head into his storage ring. He teleported back to the village and put the Level 2 Lastranges into his ring and then teleported back to Graceland Capital's gates, scaring the heck out of the guards there. They all pointed their weapons at them.
"Don't move!" they shouted at the same time. Suddenly, they found that they couldn't move themselves. They watched as Nicklaus walked past them, helplessly.
"Sorry, I am in quite a hurry. I am the new bounty hunter, name's Merlin," Nicklaus said as he passed them. When he was a distance away, the guards could move again and their bodies were covered in cold sweat.
"That was frightening. He could have killed us of he wanted and he knew we would report this yet he let us go."
"It would mean he is not a bad guy, possibly. But if he is what he says he is then it is out of our hands. Report this to the commander."
Nicklaus got into the guild the same way as last time. The place got quiet as he walked in, making him giddy secretly. He went to the counter he saw the other bounty hunters go to turn it their bounties and found something he never saw before, an elf! He had though he was in some kind of Eastern themed world full of cultivation but now western themes are starting to clash.
"How can I help you?" the elf girl said with an accent. Her voice was quite nice to hear but he quickly brought himself to reality.
"I am here to turn in a bounty and a report," he said and removed the body of the Lastranges. The elf looked at it and took out a form then started filling it.
"The report?" she asked in her business like voice. Nicklaus nodded and removed the wyvern's head. Everyone in the guild was surprised, so was the elf.
"This is a Level Six beast!" she said.
"Yep. At first I thought the Lastranges were taking the people to feed themselves so I flushed their nest. This guy came out then and I think they were his underlings," he said.
"Do you have its body?" she asked.
"Sorry, but if Skyrim has taught me anything it is that it's skin and bones can be made into armour," Nicklaus said. The elf nodded then wrote down something else. He gave her the bounty paper and she gave him the money.
When Nicklaus walked out of the guild, the elf got up with the paper she was writing and went upstairs. She knocked at the door written Guild Master and got an answer immediately. She got in and nodded at a young man behind a large desk, his hands busy writing.
"I met the Legendary Realm bounty hunter that registered today," she said as she sat down. The man stopped writing and looked at her.
"What do you think of him?"
"He's not readable, it's like he has an invisible shield making him not able to be read, even his energy signature is not there which is impossible as far as I know."
"Keep an eye on him. The princess does not like anomalies and he is a big one. Check is you can find out how he looks like and where he comes from." She nodded.
