Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Exit

It was about 12 o'clock, the sun was high up in the sky. Due to the magic of the world, we didn't feel hot at all.

Instead, it even felt cool. It would be strange back home - in this world, it was normal.

We had covered about 700 km, so only about 300 km was left.

If we continued our pace, we would reach our destination in about 10 hours.

Dave had said that we would reach it at about 9 in the night. Walking that distance wasn't a problem for us.

If we were talking about the horse, Emma could heal it - we didn't have to stop and let the horse rest.

We were pretty near the exit of the Dark Forest, only about 40-50 km away.

"So today, we are going to finish the quest." I turned towards Osiric, "Pretty much."

Emma was a little disappointed that she was absolutely destroyed by me. To be fair, I have more level 6 skills and more elemental affinity.

I also know how to properly use my element and fuse them to create some stupidly powerful attacks.

It was pretty boring - we were reaching the end of the forest, so there wasn't a lot of monsters who would come and attacks.

"Os, we probably have to kill some monsters ourselves, right?" I asked him, "Yep," he answered, "we won't be able to get to level 30 otherwise."

So we needed to grind, due to the exp system in this world; it didn't take a lot of experience to level up. In our case, and now Osiric's as well, at every level we would need 50 more exp.

So, level 30 would take about 1500 exp. We will need to be at level 28 to be level 30 after we get the 5k exp from the quest.

"We have to level to 28, how much time will it take?" I asked Osiric, he was an expert in this field after all, "I think... probably 30 minutes." he answered.

Unlike how it was when we first came to this world, it would take a long time for us to level up - even though we would level up 2 times faster than a normal person.

The leveling system was pretty complex - and pretty easy to exploit - the amount of exp is determined how much mana is in your attack and how much attacks would it take you kill.

If you use low amounts of mana and kill a weak monster you would get more exp; also the higher level you are the lower the base exp of a weaker monster would be.

Aoe spell also gives you less experience than normal, especially if you put massive amounts of mana in them.

If you fight a monster that is equal to you, you won't be able to exploit the system.

Stronger monsters were pretty easy to exploit. If we use the minimum amount of mana required to damage and kill it - which will take a long time, but still, with our skills, it would be pretty easy for us to kill a strong mid intermediate, heck, we could even fight a weak high intermediate.

With Emma, our chance of success to exploit the monster would drastically increase.

But since we are in the Dark Forest, we probably don't need to find a strong monster - since we have to get even deeper and that would be crazy dangerous. The monster population in the forest was enormous, so we could easily level up from the weaker monsters.

Especially with our monster magnet.

...

I and Emma were talking with Osiric, we were talking about how would the food made by the cooking lord taste.

Then Dave came to the side from the front of the carriage, he turned towards us - busy talking about stupid things

"Hey," he called us, we all stopped talking and looked at him, "we have reached the exit."

"Oh!" we all said at the same time, we were so in dept in our conversation about how disgusting sea food was when we saw god rays coming in front of us.

The Dark Forest, as its uncreative name suggests, was very dark. The unholy mana blocked a little bit of sunlight, though it wasn't a problem for us; we even clearly see at night, as if it was day.

So it didn't make a difference, but since our body automatically adjusted to the brightness. Seeing bright sunlight was a little blinding at first.

"Finally, now only some time is left until we can back." I said to myself, though Osiric and Emma could hear me clearly due to how sharp our senses were.

They only had a wry smile on their face, I knew why. But I quickly ignored it. I don't want to know to know something I knew I will regret.

But still, it was a little satisfying to exit the forest. No one can get used to the eerie feeling of unholy magic - except the people who have them - so it was still relieving to get out of the forest.
