Chapter 17 - The Marriage- 16

I remembered the letter that Bella had given me. My eyes widened in realization.

'When my nose began to bleed in front of the King.. could that have been… The 1st Concubine??'

My thoughts were interrupted when Bella cleared her throat.

"Miss, your tea will get cold." She said. I hummed and sipped it slowly.

"Chamomile?" I said. Bella smiled before nodding.

"Miss, I notice how anxious, you looked, so I prepared this to calm you down." She explained. I turned to look at her in shock.

"Bella…" I said. Her expression quickly changed to a look of fear as she bowed.

"M-My apologies Miss! Do you not like it? I can get you another-" She paused once seeing my face. "Miss! A-Are you crying?!?" She said. I felt my cheeks and quickly wiped my tears.

'I had never been cared for like this… it was, different.' I thought.

I swiftly shook my head, I turned away. Bella passed me a handkerchief. I took it without looking at her. I wiped my eyes carefully. I heard her let out a small snicker but she quickly covered it up with a cough. She bowed again.

"M-miss, you should start getting ready soon." She said. I looked out of the window to see the sun fully up, the sky bright blue in contrast to the light orange color it was when I first awoke.

After finishing my cup of tea, Bella helped me to dress into another all-white dress with long sleeves. Curious. I turned to Bella.

"I was put in white yesterday as well, why is that?" I asked. She bowed before answering.

"Miss, because you are the Black Jade, you must wear white to show purity, protection, and prosperity. " She said. I began to feel uneasy.

'Me? All of these things??' I thought. However, I simply nodded as she continued. I sighed once I remembered.

'Things were much different here compared to my world. I would need to remember that, especially because…' I couldn't help but heat up as I remembered. 'The 4th Princes wife.' I scoffed in my head.

'I am probably making a big deal of nothing. Based on the 4th Prince of this world, surely, he was only kidding when he accepted.' I gulped. 'Right?' Bella bowed as she took a step back.

"Miss, I am finished." She said. I looked at the mirror and smiled.

'It seems this body is naturally beautiful!' I thought. The silver hair accessories matched well with the dress. As I was about to thank her, there was a knock at the door. Bella turned towards me.

"Miss, are you expecting someone?" She asked. Dumbfounded, I shook my head.

'Who would come to see me so early in the morning?' I thought. Bella excused herself before leaving to open the door. I followed closely behind her. Upon opening the door, both Bella and I let out a gasp.

Red crates decorated with gold accents sat outside the door. I blinked many times. Bella quickly looked at Bo, who was standing proudly behind the gifts.

"A-Are these?" She started, unable to even finish her sentence. Bo bowed towards me.

"Miss Adedora, these are the wedding gifts presented from the 4th Princes. The wedding will be in a month." He said. My eyes bulged.

"W-what??" Bella and I both exclaimed in shock. I looked at her and she stared back at me.

'You have got to be kidding me..'

I walked hurriedly to the 4th Prince's manor, Bo walking in front of me leading the way as Bella walked beside me.

My heart rate was through the roof as the calm and pleasant morning was quickly disrupted with such, impactful news.

Arriving at the door, Bo bowed respectfully as he knocked.

"4th Prince, Miss Adedora wishes to see you." He said. There was silence for a moment, my heartbeat pounded faster but I remained in a solemn expression.

"Let her in." I heard the 4th Prince say. I almost forgot how to breathe once hearing such a demanding voice. Remembering what Bella has said, I couldn't help but panic. I turned to Bella who only nodded, signaling for me to enter. As she was about to walk in behind me, Bo quickly stopped her.

"Only, Miss Adedora." Bo clarified. I could see the annoyance in Bella's face but she still bowed respectfully. I gulped. Turning back around. I slowly took more steps into the manor. I tried to reassure myself.

'I'm going to be fine! As I said, the 4th prince is a kind and thoughtful person, he surely wouldn't, wouldn't kill me, right?" I thought. I kept walking until I reached a desk at the side of the room. The 4th Prince, sitting at his desk, reading a paper. I gulped once more.

His beautiful dark hair contrasted to his pale skin, yet he had such strong features! his dark grey eyes which were now…

'Focused on me?!?!?' I thought. Quickly I looked down before bowing.

'Y-your Highness." I said awkwardly. I cursed at myself.

'Great, great job Eva! You will now be killed! All because you wanted to look at a pretty man-'

"You may stand." He said. I quickly stood with my eyes remaining on the ground.

"Y-yes your highness," I said. I suddenly heard footsteps as my eyes were still on the ground, I couldn't help but begin to panic.

'This is it. My life here is over.' I thought.

He stopped walking as he stood right in front of me. I kept my eyes on the ground.

"Did you come just to stand here?" He asked. I quickly looked up.

"Ah, well your highness I-" I paused after meeting his eyes. I looked down again and took a few steps back.

"Y-your highness, I couldn't help but wonder why the…" I paused and cleared my throat. "The wedding is so rushed." I finally said.

"Miss Adedora." He started. I shivered hearing him say my name. "Was it not you who initiated this marriage?" He asked. I could hear the amusement in his voice. I shifted awkwardly.

"I, I just thought that it would-" I gulped again. "It would be in both of our best interests to get to know one another first." He took his finger to the bottom of my chin and raised my head, I was now looking at him directly. Shocked, I quickly turned to the side.

"B-besides, I am sure you are very busy right now, I would not want to take up too much of your time," I said. I heard him let out a scoff.

"I am a Prince, I will always be busy." He said. He met my eyes again. "And you are my future wife, it is important for our relationship that I make time for you, correct?" My eyes went wide as my face heated up more.

'Crap! How was I supposed to remain neutral with this, this handsome man! ' I panicked.

Taking another few steps back, I nodded.

"I-I agree, it is important we make time for each other, h-however…" I paused, searching for another reason to hold off the wedding.
