Chapter 3 - New comings(chapter 2)

"Serene get up." A voice said. Soon after I hear the dogs growl as loni scoots closer standing over me protectively. I open my eyes only to be blinded by the light from the curtains being torn open. I rub my eyes and let them adjust then look around to see grandmother standing across the room with her arms crossed. I wince at her intense glare. Giving loni the pat on the head she relaxes a bit. It's a sign of trust; if I trust them, she trust them. Calming down she steps away moving to my side and sitting down, still watching grandmother warily. "Get ready our guests will show up at noon. Don't dress like a sloozy fool. I will not be embarrassed by you once again." she said as her eyes flared in confidence. I shrunk down a little at her height but nodded. She scoffed mumbling incoherent words as she stalked off out of the room. I closed my eyes sighing in relief before falling back into my bed.

A good hour after that marry came in with a dress and rack. She helped me get ready in silence. She wouldn't answer me once. She wouldn't even meet my eyes. Before I could question her, she all but ran out of the room.

I look down at myself noticing the colors of the dress. A square neck with dark blue silk that travels from the top of my shoulders to my toes with a light blue streak going down the middle with a flowery pattern running down it. I made sure to put on my blue heels as well along with giving myself a once over before sitting in front of my vanity. I smiled a little at my reflection, feeling pretty. Valarie came in next and started on my make up. I guess you could say I'm naturally pretty with my freckles that travel from one cheek bone to the other and my even lips with a dark shade of pink. What really catches everyone's eyes tho is my dark brown hair and my silver eyes. My eyes aren't really silver but they change from light blue to silver with my moods. I've only seen light blue and silver though. Soon after putting a hint of blush on my cheek bones and a clear coating on my lips she started on my hair.

When she was finished she left the room. I stayed behind not wanting to leave the room into a crowd of strangers. Sighing I stand pushing my shoulders back and straightening my back. I make my way out of the room and down the flight of stairs towards the ballroom. Before I even step into the ball room I can already hear the chitter chatter of people who's showed up already. Breathing In I step towards the doors gathering confidence to open them. I slowly creak them open to see atleast 200 people here already. I stand glancing around trying to find papa but I see him no where. I sigh and walk further into the room. I finally look around at the room and smile. I haven't been in this room since I was 12, when papa had announced that he wasn't looking for a bride to replace my mother as queen. My smile falters at the thought.

"What's the long face for?" A man asked. I jumped frightened and turned around to the voice. My eyes meet dark green ones. Tilting my head in confusion as I find them familiar, he chuckles obviously seeing my reaction. "Maybe sese(see-see) will jog your memory?" He said letting me think about it for a minute. Not long after that do u realize I do know this man. "Geo?!" I replied feeling my eyes widen. His smile climbs higher up his face. "Oh my god! I haven't seen you since I was...what 13?!" I exclaimed making him chuckle as he steps closer grabbing my hand and lifting it up to his lips. Laying a soft kiss on the top of my fingers letting it linger a little before letting my hand go. I smiled and shake my head curtsying before standing straight again. He let out a chuckle then smirked. He opened his mouth to say something but grandmother cut him off. "Serene why don't you take George to the dance floor." She said. I looked down intimidated and nodded. Geo stuck his hand out and I took it as we both made our way to the floor. Geo stopped in the middle and turned me towards him before taking my waist into his hold. Being up close to him made me realize how good looking he was. I hadn't really paid attention to his features but now that I am he really is a gorgeous man. He is tall and slim but not to skinny he has muscle to him making him look like a warrior. His hair is split down the middle with it falling down the side of his temple. I glance at his face only to be awestruck by his eyes meeting mine. We sway with the music as we both study each other. His lips are full but not to big, when he smiles his dimples show you can even see them when he's not smiling. But it's his green eyes that capture me. They truly are amazing almost a natural glaze to them like gold and brown. His eyes stay on mine as the music shifts more up beat. We chat about what we've missed and when we could visit each other. A while in we turn and change position all through the song until it slows towards its end and he slowly guides his hands to my lower back before dipping me. We stay in the position for a moment just staring into each other's eyes until people start clapping. Geo lifts me up to my feet and we both glance around snapping out of our spell.

Geo nodded to everyone clapping towards us as did I and we made our way to my table. I glanced around for my papa to see him sitting down at the table. He looked upset but I wouldn't know why. He's been stressed the past few weeks. I tilt my head furrowing my brows, but when papa finally sees me his face completely changes into a happy one all but the crease between his eye brows where they furrow of confusion, anger or worry. I turn to geo to see him looking at papa. "Geo is everything okay?" I questioned snapping him out of his gaze and he looked at me. "Yeah-..yeah yeah I'm fine. I'm sorry could you excuse me?" He asked and I nodded but before I could say anything more he kissed my cheek and walked away the other direction. I sigh of confusion before laying my hand over my cheek where he'd kissed. Shrugging it off I turn back to my father and make my way towards our table.

"Hey papa? Is everything alright?" I asked sitting myself in my seat beside him. He glanced up at me and smiled reassuringly a hint of worry and nervousness crossing his face. I raised a brow squinting my eyes suspiciously at him. He chuckled shaking his head before kissing my forehead. "My angel I'm alright. I'm just tired that's all." He replied before standing and walking around his chair. "Wait where are you going? I just got here." I said and he looked down at me before glancing at where geo had gone. "I will be right back angel. I have to-... I'm gonna go lock my study." He replied stalking off before I could answer. I sat there confused for a few minutes but shook it off glancing around. My eyes stopping on the balcony beside the fountain I stood and made my way towards it. When I meet the glass doors I slide them open and step out into the cool, fall air. I walk towards the railing and lay my hands atop of it closing my eyes and tilting my head back letting the cool air hit my warm skin. I sighed letting myself go in the moment. "A lady should never be alone." A voice said breaking my peaceful silence.
