My name is Alyson and I am seventeen. I live in what some people consider the projects. Its a small house with one bedroom, a den (kitchen + living room), and bathroom. I live with my mother who is currentlysleepimg on the couch, sorrounded by empty glass bottles. She doesn't work, she just sis at home drinking her life away. I try to stop her from drinking, but she hits me with the bottels. That is why I currently have a blue bruise on the side of my forehead. I am currently sitting on the floor waiting for her to get up. You see I've gooten accepted to Greenfield university out of town with a amazing pharmacy program. That sounds awesome right? The thing is my mom wants me to go to a community college in town and i have not told her that i was accepted into university. As I was lost in my thoughts i heard my mother stirring on the torn, musty couch. I brought her a glass a water, this was my attempt of sobering her up. "Thank you my sweet girl", she said, "I'm so sorry for hitting you." She started caressing that bruise on my head. "Hey mom, I have great news", I said weakly. "Well... what is it, she said?" Then I answered with, "I got into Greenfield University" Her face slowly went from a nuetral expression to rage. " We talked about this, your going to community college."You think you can leave me like your father now that your almost grown. Your staying here!" she contorted. She stood with a bottle in her hands, while i flinched at her words. Usually I would nod and say yes ma'am, but I couldn't. " Isn't it my choice?", I replied frightened. "WHAT DID YOU SAY?", she yelled. I knew what was coming net so I slowly walked into the bedroom we shared. She slept on the bed, while I slept on the floor. I fell back as my mother had a ball of my hair in her hands. She yanked me up to my feet. She yelled, " You will not leave me abd I will make sure of that!" I felt something smash into my head. I couldn't see anything all I could see was a black void...
