Chapter 1 - She was happy.

The tall buildings along with the bustling streets of the metropolis surrounded her newly polished car. Though the scene was quite messy, she enjoyed it because this was her everyday life.

Glancing down to look at her wristwatch, she realised that the time was just right. She wasn't too early nor near late for her class. The cars in front of her were still unmoving. This meant that the traffic wouldn't move sooner or later.

She hummed as she tapped on her steering wheel, waiting for the traffic to loosen up. A thought passed her mind as she looked at the other side of the road. There was a road accident near the intersection she was currently in.

The accident happened last night. It was quite unfortunate. A truck that had a loose break wasn't able to dodge on time when an approaching car was making a turn which caused the two vehicles' collision. The truck wasn't damage seriously, with the driver injured. After all, it was bigger compared to the vehicle it crashed on to so the driver wasn't in a serious condition. However, as for the car, it was a wreck which lead to its explosion. All that happened was caught on the cctvs on the road.

None of the four passengers survived the incident. She pitied the victims caught in the accident. They weren't even able to do anything about it. Road accidents were common these days. It was so common even people in her town grew weary.

However, life must go on. Cars already play a vital role in modern society's transportation. It is advised to be more careful. She realized that she shouldn't drive after drinking even if she is sober enough.

A breeze blew against her cheeks which made her frown. It wasn't really a breeze. More like smoke coming from the cars stuck in the traffic. It slightly ruined her styled hair. She scolded herself for not noticing her slightly lowered window. She glanced at her rearview mirror and decided to fix her jet black hair. Some of the hair from her long bangs were hanging in front of her face. It triggered her OCD. She bit her lips and slowly moved it to the right.

'There...it looks fine now.'

Her face glowed and her cherry lips were curved upwards. Her grey eyes sparkled. She revealed a charming smile. It was a genuine smile that she would always show everytime she observed herself in the mirror. It was her way of thanking God for giving her a good life. She was happy. Everything in her life was in place. There was nothing she could ask for.

She tapped her chest and looked proudly at herself.

"Ashley, today is another beautiful day!"

She motivated herself with this and looked forward to the rest of the day. She was excited. She returned her gaze to the road and saw that she could finally move to her destination. She drove to the road which leads to her university.

When she arrived, she quickly parked her car. As she came out, familiar people greeted her and she did the same. She walked down the school hallways with a confident smile.

Some students around her smiled back to her and some revealed envious stares. She was treated like a celebrity.

Ashley was in fact, the most popular girl on the campus. Her group of friends were on top of the chain called the "popular kids". These kids were all rich. She wasn't the richest in the group but she was the prettiest. Some said she was the nicest.

She was in the business department. Being the only child in the family she is expected to succeed the family business that is why she took the course. She was also interested in business so she didn't have a problem with this.

She headed towards their building and arrived there minutes later. She sat on her desk. Some of her friends immediately noticed her and came to approach her.

Three girls and two boys sat beside her and began talking to her. She cheerfully conversed with them. The air around them was lively which made the onlookers want to know the topic of their conversation.

They talked for minutes until they noticed someone standing behind Ashley. The person behind her covered her eyes which made their friends tease her. Her cheeks heated, knowing who the person was.

" Who is this?"

" Guess..."

She put her index finger to her lips and pretended to be serious.

"Hmmm... Sabrina?"

"Nope." The man behind her chuckled. It was obvious that she was playing dumb. Their friends couldn't help but laugh alongside him. They were already used to the couple's cheesiness.

She reached to touch his hands and removed it from her face. She stood up and turned to look at the man. The man beamed at her and she also broke into a smile. She moved around her chair to embrace him. He hugged her back and kissed her peony scented hair.

She raised her head to observe his face. He was very tall, that is why she craned her neck just to look at him.

He had brown curly hair and blue ocean eyes. His tall nose complimented his angular face. It was captivating. He was very handsome but he wore glasses because of his poor eyesight. He still looked hot, regardless.

"Ash..." he said.

"Hmm..." She said back to him.

This man was Jamie, her boyfriend and they have been together for almost two years now. Their anniversary will be next month and she was excited to celebrate the special day with him.

Their friends coughed to catch both their attention. The two only laughed and separated from each other.

"It seems that you forgot about us?", one said jokingly.

"These two. Tsk.", the boys in the group said.

Jaime scratched his nape in embarrassment and she blushed beside him. She found his gesture cute. He held her hand and greeted their friends. Minutes later, they went back to their own seats because the class was about to start.

Jaime reluctantly let go of her hand.

"I'll see you later." He said and kissed her on the cheek. He left to go to his own class. He was in the Medicine department which was the building next to hers. She knew that he needed to go fast or else he'll be late.

It was his fault for coming to her. But she knew she secretly liked it. She giggled.

He's been doing this ever since they started dating and it was surprising how he never got tired of doing it. It was like it became a routine for him. She found this gesture sweet.

He never failed in making her feel loved. She was lucky at having him as her boyfriend. He used to be one of her friends during high school. Two years ago he confessed his feelings and courted her.

She also liked him secretly so she was beyond ecstatic when he told her what he felt. That was when their sweet romance started.

She sat down in her seat when she realized that she was already left there standing for minutes. On cue, the professor came in and the whole classes turned quiet.

He went to the front and started to discuss. Her class officially started.
