"I accept your gifts," said the inspector with a smile, "Now, it's my turn to invite you to a friend's gathering."
As his words fell, the long table and vase both disappeared.
The forest in the distance was swiftly closing in as far as the eye could see.
Everyone was taken aback, only noticing when they looked around themselves that the grass beneath their feet was the thing moving—like it was conscious, crawling against the ground surface, carrying people fast forward.
