Chapter 655 - Meeting with Gerad

Seeing 50k people coming to the gate of the Kanto League city, the guards were afraid. This was a normal reaction but the head guard had already been informed about the situation as Axel had given him the document for their entry.

One of the guards came out of the gate and Hector flashed a document. The guard properly verified the document and let all of them in. This took more than 5 hours. Because the guard would have to verify the name and then the number of the members that were coming in.

This was a standard procedure and the security was very strict in the Kanto League City. After the previous tide, the security of the city had increased a lot and they had removed a lot of loopholes.

Axel had already booked the hotel rooms for all the members of his team. He had booked around 25k rooms with each room having 2 members inside. The hotel cost alone would cost him 50 million Poke dollars per day. The rate of the room was decreased after such a huge amount of rooms booked to Rs. 2,000 Poke dollars per day.

Axel had to book multiple hotels as a single hotel would not have 25k rooms. Kanto League City was very large. It was bigger than the largest city on Earth and it would not be a problem for him to book so many rooms. However, a sudden influx of such a huge group made the citizen curious about their intention.

It took them some time to settle into their hotel room. Axel then called a meeting in his room with the lieutenants. He had not talked to them for some time and he also had to introduce Jin and Mia. The meeting was going to be held in the afternoon.

###

Axel's room was very big. He had specifically booked a bigger room but it was not enough to hold a meeting with 12 people. So, the place was congested. Including Axel, there were 11 people in this room. All of them were major players in his mercenary team.

Hector, Troy, Sam, Mia, Jin, Mary, Kane, Dorton, Alon, Dory and Ashmita. Ashmita was Axel's secretary and she was ready to note down the important points of the meeting. She loved it to be professional.

"First of all, I want to thank you all for all of your hard work. We can finally register the mercenary team because of all of you. I want to first introduce you to the new team members and also the lieutenants of the team. This is Jin and she is Mia."

All of them welcomed Jin and Mia with open arms. If Axel had said that they deserved to be here in the meeting, then they didn't have any problem with it.

"Jin would be traveling with me for a few months until he is qualified enough to be the lieutenant and Mia will be joining the team immediately. Now, Ashmita, tell me all about the registration process of the Mercenary team."

"Yes sir. There are a few conditions to be a Mercenary team. Since we have more than 50k members, the conditions are:

All of the members should at least have 1 pseudo-king rank Pokemon. The lieutenants must have at least 3 pseudo-king rank Pokemons. We must have a balance of 1 Trillion Poke dollars. The leader must at least have 1 tier 3 king-rank Pokemon. We must pay 200 billion Poke dollars to the league for registration.

We have fulfilled all the requirements and now are ready to register. Tomorrow we will be going to the league where the details of each member will be duly noted and then they will register us.

Since we are in the highest tier of the mercenary, the leader of the Kanto League, Gerad would personally meet with us.

It is also customary that the league would provide us with a new mission after the registration to see how good we really are. If we are able to perform well, we will be graded high enough that would reflect in our reputation.

It is also customary that the league would provide us with some of the eggs of rare Pokemons as a starting gift. We can ask for those eggs."

"How many would they give us?", asked Axel.

"I don't know the exact details as it depends on the league but around 3-4 eggs.", replied Ashmita.

"Hmmm, that is good to hear. Hector, you know my relationship with Gerad. it is not very good. Do you think that it would be a hurdle for us?"

"Sir, even though Gerad doesn't like you, he cannot simply discard our mercenary on a whim. There are only 3 Mercenary teams in this entire world of our caliber. It is not easy to create a team with 50k members.

If we were to be a mercenary team, then it would decrease the pressure of the league in dealing with the tide and also increase their reputation. So, I don't think that Gerad would say no to us.

But relating to the eggs that we will receive, I am not hopeful about it.", replied Hector.

"Forget about the eggs, I am more worried about the first mission we would be receiving. A mercenary team could choose their own missions but the first mission is mandatory and it is chosen by the league. This is basically a test. I think that Gerad might create a problem for us and give us a hard mission.", said Tory.

Meanwhile, Jin and Mia were surprised. Their leader had a feud with the leader of the Kanto league. But why and when?

"Wait a minute. Why do you have a problem with this Gerad?", asked Jin as he could not hold on for long.

"Sigh....."

Axel then told him the entire story of the Kanto League city and about Hakone City. Jin was a fan of Gerad but he also knew that messing with him would be a problem.

"So, what are we going to do then?", asked Jin.

"Don't worry, I will handle it.", said Axel with a confident voice but even he didn't know what was going to happen.

###

The meeting went on for some time and it ended in the evening. They discussed the team's progress and new strategies that could be implemented while fighting tide battles.

After talking to them, Axel went to bed. He had already made an appointment with the league to meet them tomorrow at 9 a.m. It was an early meeting and only the leaders of the team would first meet with Gerad and the league.

Axel was happy about the mercenary being registered. He still had not come up with the name of the mercenary team till now. He also asked for some advice in the meeting but he got not good response.

He had really worked hard to create this team. Of course, Hector, Troy, and Sam did most of the work. He was not with them all the time but he invested a lot of money and resources to them. He bought an entire forest for them to train in mission and gather money. He made training books for them and then trained them in them. He also imparted knowledge of creating many traps and strategies. He had done a lot for this team and he was happy about it.

After thinking about the good news tomorrow, Axel went to sleep.

###

As always, Axel woke up early in the morning. He did his shower and got ready to have breakfast. This was his usual routine and he enjoyed the early breakfast.

Very soon others also got ready to go to the meeting. Other people were not going to the meeting but that didn't mean that they were going to sleep the whole morning. They should be present for the screening at 11 a.m.

The league would have to confirm that they had at least one pseudo-king rank Pokemon. This could be done either by verifying their trainer certificate or if they had not updated their certificate then by looking and observing their Pokemons.

Since all of them had been busy with training and Kanto League city was very far away, nobody bothered to update their trainer rank. So, they had to personally show their Pokemon to be eligible for the mercenary team.

###

Others also got ready as they went to the Kanto League City headquarters. There were multiple buildings in the city that were related to the league. One of them was for the mercenary team.

Axel and the team reached the gate and he showed the letter to the guard for verification. They were let in and now they were waiting in the lobby for the invitation.

All 12 of them were excited to get the license of the mercenary team.

"Sir, have you thought about the name of the mercenary team?", asked Ashmita.

"Yes, I have thought something special. I will tell you later.", replied Axel.

After some time, a receptionist came near the team and said, "Sir, the league is waiting for you in hall A. Please follow me. I will guide you."

All of them stood up and started to follow the receptionist. They finally reached the Hall A. There was a very big cylindrical table with many chairs. Gerad was sitting at the end of it with a couple of league members. Axel could see that Gerad was giving a soft smile which for some odd reason he didn't like. His instinct told him that something bad was going to happen.

"Welcome Axel. It has been a long time since we have met. Come have a seat. Please, all of you be seated.", said Gerad as he welcomed the team to sit.

Tea and Coffee were ordered with some cookies as Gerad was looking at some documents with rapt attention. After a couple of minutes, Gerad looked at Axel and then all of them and said, "So, I hear that you are going to create a mercenary team?"

Troy was silently greeting his teeth in anger. Gerad was not giving Axel the respect that he deserved. Among all the lieutenants, he was the one who could not control his anger. Hector noticed his and silently told him to calm down.

"Yes, we are here for that. That is why we are having this meeting.", said Axel.

"Ok, let me see....", said Gerad as he started to flip the papers.

"The screening of your members is going on. So I can't give you my decision till they had their screening. But even assuming that all of them had a pseudo-king rank Pokemon with them, and you have a tier 3 king rank Pokemon, it looks like you have the required balance and can give us a fee of 200 billion Poke dollars.

However, I am sorry to say, Mr. Axel but I cannot accept this team as a Mercenary.", said Gerad with a saddest smile. His face looked like he had made the toughest decision of his life and he himself regret saying it.

However, Axel was fuming with anger. He was feeling that something bad might happen but he didn't expect that Gerad would directly say no.

In his anger, he stood up from his chair slammed his hand on the table with a loud thud, and asked in a raising voice, "WHY? Give me one reason why?"
