Gerad wanted to speak out loud again but Dragon and all the others in the room controlled him and begged him to shut up.
Gerad took a deep breath to calm down and asked, "Prof. Oak. May I ask for the reason for this decision of yours?"
"You may not."
Gerad's head was going to burst from anger. He always hated Oak's attitude.
"Ok, it is a fine morning and I am in a good mood. So I will tell you. Axel is my successor and I want to groom him. He had developed a lot after he faced that tide and now it is time for him to face another.
He is my successor, so he cannot be under anyone. So I am not asking him to be the Field Marshall but a General would do. Let him control the north base. It is the easiest base to handle so you won't be losing much."
"Sir, I love your reason and appreciate your care for your successor. But you also know that he is not experienced for that position. He is a genius, we all know that but we need a man of experience for the tide.", said Ron.
"You are right kid. We do need experience but how can he get experience when he is not given a chance? Let me do you one better. It is a fine morning and you guys are lucky.
If Axel could not handle the tide and the north base starts to crumble then I would personally come here and get rid of the whole tide for you. Is that enough?"
All of them looked at their faces. This was a very good proposal. Oak had the capability to do it. Even if they lose some soldiers in the tide due to Axel's incompetence, the Kanto League would still live.
"Alright, I accept the proposal.", said Gerad.
"Ok, you have a good head on your shoulders. I am going now. Bye-bye.", said Oak and hung up the phone.
The room was silent for some seconds but it felt hours for everyone in the room. Dragon was the first one to speak.
"Gerad are you crazy? You know how Oak is.
Do I have to personally tell you that Oak destroyed 2 regions with his Charizard, Alakazam and Dragonite cause someone harmed his family? You are the one who personally wrote the incident report, so you must not have forgotten."
"I am sorry. He just gets on my nerves."
"You are the leader of the Kanto League. Hold your ground. I don't accept such petty excuses. He could have destroyed your land and I would have lost billions of Poke dollars."
The people calmed down after this and they started to strategize the battle for the tide.
"Call all the generals tomorrow for the meeting", said Gerad and he closed the meeting.
There were 12 ranks in the military. There were:
Cadets: Must have Rare Rank Pokémon.
Captains: Must have Rare Rank Pokémon.
Lieutenants: Must have at least one Elemental Rank Pokémon.
Zone Commander: Must have one Pseudo-King Rank Pokémon.
Commander: Must have at least three Pseudo-King Rank Pokémon.
Brigadier General: Must have at least one King Rank Pokémon.
General: Must have at least three King Rank Pokémon.
Major General: Must have a Pseudo-champion rank Pokémon.
Field Marshal: Must have 3 Pseudo-Champion Rank Pokémons.
Vice Admiral: Must have a Champion rank Pokemon.
Admiral: Must have at least 3 Champion Rank Pokémon.
Field Marshal: Must have at least one Master rank Pokemon.
By this ranking, Charles, the champion of the Kanto region must be an Admiral cause he had many champion-rank Pokemons. But he was not.
Why?
Cause he was not part of the league. Gym leaders, Elite 4, and the Champion were not part of the league. There were some that willingly became part of the league but Charles was not one of them.
Gerad, who was scared of Oak, was an Admiral. He had 4 champion-rank Pokemons. He was a very strong trainer.
###
Meanwhile, Axel, Clair, and Agatha had gathered around 20,000 trainers for the tide. This was a massive force. But it was still not enough for a single base.
By this time, Dragon had come home with news.
He called all of them to the meeting room and sat on his chair.
"So, what happened? What is the rank of the tide?", asked Agatha.
Dragon started to tell all the things that happened in the meeting. He went to tell the rank of the tide from each side. Finally, he started to tell about Oak's call.
"Yes, I told him that I wanted to lead a base.", confirmed Axel.
"Axel, I know you are capable but you should also know that this is Kanto League. It would be incredibly hard for you to handle all the soldiers."
"I know but I don't want to be under anyone. I have my friends to protect. How can I take orders from others?", asked Axel.
"That is a good attitude. Dragon, don't worry about it. We will all be here to support him. I will make sure that he does not make any mistakes.", said Agatha.
"Alright, any other information?", asked Dragon.
"Yes, only I am here. All the Elite 4 members are out of the Kanto League. So, it would be only me and Charles. Also, Kent is here. So that is reassuring.", said Agatha.
Axel started to say that they were now 20,000 strong.
"We would get other soldiers, from the the league. So we don't need to worry about it. Axel, you are now appointed as a temporary general and you will be reporting tomorrow for the meeting.
The league battle has been halted. This is the first time it has ever happened. So, you would be fighting against Bruno after the league battle."
"Would Bruno also participate in the tide?", asked Axel.
"I don't know. He is not a native of this place and he is not a soldier. So, he doesn't have the right to participate. But we need more hands and shoulders for this tide. Gerad had not made any decision to include others in the tide.
We can only hope that he does.", said Dragon.
They started to talk about other things.
"What are the strategies that the league use for these kind of tides?", asked Axel.
Agatha began to tell the type of strategies and traps that the league used. Axel found out that the league used a very small amount and a variety of traps for the tides. They never gave any importance to traps.
Axel wanted to capitalize on this.
The strategies used by leagues were simple but they were very effective. This was not Burbos town. This was the Kanto League. So, the quality of the soldiers was much higher. So, they used multiple strategies for the battle.
"Let's wait for tomorrow. We will start to move after tomorrow's meeting.", said Axel.
Even though there were powerful people like Dragon and Agatha, Axel was going to be the leader of the north zone. It was a bit weird for Axel himself but he didn't want to be under anyone else.
###
The meeting was to be held at 9 a.m. All the Generals and the leader of the league were to attend the meeting. The meeting was not for other people.
The meeting was going to start at 9 a.m. and Axel reached the meeting hall at 8:55 a.m.
All the generals and the leader of the league were already present there.
"You are late.", said Gerad, the leader of the Kanto league.
"I am not. You are fast.", replied Axel and proceeded to sit on the only empty chair.
Charles gave a small laugh at their antics.
"Let's start the meeting. Before starting the meeting, let's introduce ourselves. I am Gerad. I am the leader of the Kanto League. I will be handling the central zone", said Gerad.
"I am Axel Blaze. I am the temporary general for the north zone and I am a trainer."
"I am Ronit. I am the general of the west zone and I am a part of the league."
"I am Abigail. I am the general of the south zone and I am a part of the league."
"And I am Charles. I am the temporary general of the east zone and I am the current champion of the Kanto region."
This was the first time he had seen the Charles. The current champion of the Kanto region. Charles had red hair, a fair face and a muscular body. He looked like a guy in his late 20s but Axel knew that he was way older than that.
"Before starting this meeting, you should all know the type of tide that you will be going to face.
Axel and Abigail. Both of you will be facing A grade mid level tide.
Ronit. You will be facing B grade high level tide and Charles, you will be facing A grade disastrous level tide.
I will be controlling the central zone. So, I will be responsible for sending support to you guys.
Now, we all know the level and the grade of the tide but we have yet to know the estimated number of Pokemons you will be facing and their ranks. We also don't know what type of Pokemon you will be facing.
Our scouts are working hard on it and it will be revealed after 3 days. Each of you are given the detailed geography of the area that you will be defending and also the type of Pokemons that your area faced before.
Please look into it and let's discuss the strategies."
###
The meeting went on for quite some time. Basically, the meeting was to introduce the generals to themselves. Gerad was the second strongest person in the room after Charles but he took the central zone.
Axel didn't like that. If you were one of the most powerful ones and you were also the leader of the league, why were you not taking a risky position and just trying to help others? Axel could understand that the central zone would take a crucial role in communication and helping other zones but it was a not risky position.
Coming to battle strategies, there were a lot of them that were being discussed. Axel asked what type of strategies would one use at night when there would be ghost-type Pokemons.
Nighttime was very stressful for Axel when he was defending the north zone in Burbos town. If he had not personally killed many ghost type Pokemons, things would have gotten out of hand.
Unfortunately, the strategies offered by others were very basic. It was to use ghost and dark-type Pokemons and also some fire type Pokemons to light up the environment.
Axel had done that last time too. He wanted to learn new things but it seemed that they didn't have any other solutions for ghost types.
To be honest, Axel was disappointed. He had expected a lot from this meeting. He was waiting for Gerad to let other trainers not related to the military and Kanto League participate, but he didn't do it.
Finally, the meeting was coming to an end and Axel asked.
"How many soldiers would I be given for the tide? I need the numbers, the names, and their details. I also want them to be in the north zone by tonight.", said Axel.
"Axel, we can't assign you any soldiers until we find the estimated number of Pokemon that you would be facing and the types of Pokemon that you would be facing.", said Gerad.
"No, I need my soldiers now. We have around 14 days before the tide comes and you are telling me that you will be giving me my soldiers 3 days later. That is not acceptable.
There are all these historical records on the amount and the Pokemon species that would attack the north zone.
Just assign me the soldiers based on that. If the difference from the report, 3 days later is huge, you can make the changes to my north zone soldiers. If there is not a huge change, I can handle it."
"Are you sure Axel? You will be taking a lot of responsibility.", said Gerad.
"Yes, I am positive."
"Ok, I will assign you 3 million soldiers. Their ranks and their specialty would also be given to you in detail and they would arrive at your north base till night.
Do any of you have any questions?"
None of them said anything and the meeting was concluded.
###
"What happened? Did they discuss anything new in the meeting?", asked Lance.
Axel started to tell what happened in the meeting. There was not much to tell but he didn't leave any of it.
"3 million soldiers is a good amount for the north zone. We also have an additional 20,000 soldiers with us. Now, what do you want to do?", asked Agatha.
"It is simple. We need to now prepare battle strategies for the tide. The soldiers would be in the north base in the evening. So, for now, let's go through the strategies again."
