Unlike other normal caves, which had no light and were damp and scary, this cave was different. First of all, the cave was brightly lit.
"What the hell is going on in this cave?" asked Axel.
The lights were coming from rectangular and pointed crystals. These crystals were dark orange in color and emitted light and heat.
"What are these crystals?" asked Axel.
"I don't know. I have never heard or seen anything like it. They are giving off enough light and heat. Leader, do you mind if I take one of these?" said Amanda. She was the researcher of the group, and even she didn't know anything about them.
"Help yourself. But remember, we are allowed to take only one of these. I think these bright crystals are more concentrated in power as we explore deeper into this cave," said Rome.
"What do you mean?" asked Amit.
"See there, some crystals give more heat and light, while others are dim, and some don't even emit any light or heat. They just look like white crystals," said Rome, pointing it out.
He was right. Even though the cave was lit, they were not able to see every detail, and these non-lit crystals were hidden from the naked eye, except for Rome.
This showed how experienced he was in his job.
Amanda first took a sample from the non-lit crystal and told her Pokémon to cut the lit crystal. The non-lit crystal didn't emit any heat, so she was able to take it out quite easily.
The lit crystal was hot, but due to their new suits, she was able to pick it up and store it.
"What do you think of this new crystal?" asked Rome.
"I have to go back to the base to test it out, but from what it looks like, they seem to have an expiration date. The crystals are made to hold the heat for a long period of time, but I can't tell what makes the crystal heat up," said Amanda.
When they entered the cave, around 50% of the crystals were not lit. However, as they started to move forward, two things happened.
First, the temperature of the cave started to rise. It came to the point where non-fire type Pokémon could not withstand the heat. The team was safe due to their suits, but not their Pokémon. So, they only took out fire type Pokémon outside.
So, there were only three Pokémon: Rome's Arcanine, Amit's Rapidash, and Axel's Charizard.
Second was the unknown crystal itself. As they went forward, the ratio of unlit crystals started to decrease, and now all the crystals were lit, giving off high temperature. The whole cave was now filled with brightly lit orange crystals.
Even with the help of suits, they were able to feel the heat. As they went forward, Axel noticed that except for his Charizard, the other two Pokémon were starting to feel uneasy due to the heat. The heat was affecting them too.
This came as a surprise. Charizard was only an elemental rank Pokémon, but Arcanine and Rapidash were both pseudo-king rank Pokémon. So how was Charizard able to withstand the heat when the other Pokémon could not?
Axel could see that Charizard was actually enjoying the heat. It was feeling like home. He knew that Charizard's fire power had increased due to its passive move, but there should not be such a huge difference.
Rome also noticed this phenomenon, but he didn't say anything.
They could now finally see the cave closing in. It was now going to end. Every cave has its end. After walking for five minutes, they reached the end of the cave. The heat was so high that Axel now felt like he was inside molten lava. The rest of the team was also not spared.
They had the suits, so they didn't burn up or have any injuries, but this was too much. What was at the end of the cave?
Nothing.
There was absolutely nothing at the end.
"Hey look, there seems to be something. Let's get closer," said Amit.
They went closer and looked. What they found out was something they could not even describe.
At the end of the cave, there were sorts of naturally made holes with crystals all around. Inside each hole was an egg.
These were eggs of Pokémon, and Axel recognized whose egg it was.
ROARRRRR...
Charizard roared in happiness and excitement.
These were the eggs of Charmander. There was a total of 30 eggs in all the holes combined together.
"Amanda, check the potential of these eggs," said Rome.
They had brought a machine to check the potential of the eggs. Amanda went and started to check the potential of these eggs and started to note it down.
After some time, she was finished.
"So?" asked Rome.
"You would not believe it," said Amanda.
"All of them have monstrous potential," said Amanda.
All of them gasped. All of these were Charmander's eggs, and all of them had monstrous potential.
Axel used his system and found out that 18 of them had brown potential, and the rest of them had black potential. It was very hard to find a Pokémon with such high potential.
"What are we waiting for? Let's each take one and leave the rest to the league. We have come across a huge treasure," said Amit, rubbing his hands in anticipation.
"No, we can't do that," replied Axel.
"Why?"
"First of all, we don't have any information about this island. It is very suspicious to find eggs right here. We have also not found the colony of Charizard. No one was guarding here, but there are these eggs? Something is definitely wrong."
"Then what do you think we should do? Most of these eggs would hatch in the next 1-2 weeks," said Amanda.
"Simple, we would just leave them here?"
"What?"
