Pidgey had shown massive progress in the past couple of days. It had started its training. Till it evolved, Axel didn't want it to concentrate on other moves. It had good coverage in status moves and in attack moves.
Since it had just started its training, Axel focused on it a lot. Meanwhile, Tauros and Absol had reached peak of uncommon rank recently. They were already regarded as uncommon rank from the day they were born but there was some good progress on it. They were not sitting idle when they were in Oak's laboratory.
"Charizard, try once again.", said Axel.
Charizard closed its eyes and slowly fire started to surround it. It started to compress but it could not compress properly and the fire went haywire again.
Charizard was now creating a new move which Axel would like to call 'Flame armor'.
This was a similar version of Beedrill's 'String armor'. At this stage, he wanted it to be able to manipulate fire energy more freely.
Charizard had 3 conditions for rank up. It had already fulfilled 2 of those conditions and now it had to create a new move to rank up to rare rank.
---
Flame armor: 89% (Learned)
---
It still had some time to get it. He then focused on Gogoat. First of all, he wanted to look into its hidden power typing.
---
Ding!
Gogoat has learned Hidden power.
Hidden power:- Electric
---
Electric was a good typing for it. He immediately instructed Gogoat to learn 'Wild charge'. After thinking for a long time, he finally came up with a new move for Gogoat.
Axel liked it to call 'Field control'. First, he discussed with Gogoat about its fighting nature. Although he wanted it to be a physical attacker, Gogoat mostly used special attacks rather than physical attacks and it was more comfortable in it.
So 'field control' would help it a lot. With 'Field control', Gogoat would be able to manipulate the field around it with the grass moves. This would be a miniature version of the domain.
It could also use special type moves and charge moves for the attack. If Gogoat could master it, its fighting power would increase by a huge margin.
Axel had told it to learn 'Grass pledge' and 'Frenzy plant'. Ivysaur already knew those moves so it was not difficult to learn.
'Grass pledge' would shoot out columns of grass and 'Frenzy plant' would use an enormous branch to attack. Both of these moves would help it manipulate the field.
Nidorino was not doing so well. It had tried to spread the poison but it could not even start. The training was going nowhere. That was when Axel came up with an interesting idea.
First, he told it to learn 'Agility' which was not hard. It learned it in a day and leveled it up to 10 already.
"Now Nidorino, listen carefully."
"Nido…"
"When you use 'Agility', you feel a rush of power. You feel that your body is light and you can move faster."
"Nido.. Nido", it nodded its head.
"Now, use 'Agility' again and this time close your eyes and try to feel changes in your body. When you use the move, you would feel a sudden rush of power spreading all over your body. Do it."
It used the move couple of times to feel. Nidorino felt that certain power was empowering its body, especially its legs.
After some time, it nodded its head again saying that it felt that power.
"Now all you have to do is remember that feeling. Try to feel it again until you are confident in it.
After you become confident, you just have to use the same principle in your poison powers in your enemy. Try to think of the reason for the sudden spread of power in your body and replicate it with poison power in the body of the enemy.
I know it would not be so simple as you are spreading the poison power in your enemy's body but I know you will succeed."
After comprehending Axel's words, Nidorino got to work.
On the other hand, the new move for Shedinja was progressing well. Axel could see it in its stats that it was more than halfway through.

After giving instructions to each of his Pokemon, Axel finally had some free time.
He had got 16000 merit points during the tide. Merit points could be used for a lot of things, however, he didn't know what they were used for.
So, he went to the internet and searched for its uses.
After researching it for a few hours he found out that merit point could be used to exchange almost anything. It was like a second currency but with more value.
First of all, it could be exchanged for money itself but that would be a waste. It was hard to earn merit points. Next, it could be used to buy all the types of items and resources, even Pokemons.
After looking for some time, he found something interesting. Merit points could actually be used to exchange gym badges.
Yes, gym badges.
There were a lot of conditions to fulfill and it was very expensive but the fact remained that they could still be exchanged for gym badges.
Axel looked at the requirements and with the number of merit points he could exchange 2 gym badges.
That was a lot of gym badges. There were only 8 gym badges in a region. Exchanging 2 gym badges would save him a lot of time.
Axel gave a good thought about it. Merit points were hard to come by and he could get those 2 gym badges whenever he wanted. Would he really spend almost all of his merit points and get those badges?
