"Axel you forgot how primitive our world really is. The concept of schools had just been for around 50 years and they are very expensive.

Most of the people in this world don't have the money to send their kids to school. Since it has only been 50 years, they don't get the value of it.

They think that getting their Pokemon and being enlisted in the military would get them more benefits than learning about the Pokemons and strategy. That is how the world has been working. Even the military doesn't force them to have any knowledge about strategy.

Only people on a general level are required to know simple strategies and about Pokemon's biology. Is this necessary as general is a high position in the military? They must pass an exam where they would be tested for their knowledge and their personal power."

Axel asked again, "So, the lower ranks of the military are just meat shields and sacrificial troops? Their function is just to hold the border with their lives?"

"In a way you are correct. They are a type of meat shield. The surviving ones are given some knowledge about their Pokemons. With their merit they can ascend the ranks and learn more about it if they want too.", replied Red.

"Enough!! Do you think we people are just meat shields and are designed to just be sacrificed? The member of 'Pokemon tech school' was been all around the world and some of the leading members of the Kanto region are from there. There are many institutes that have multiple people in the armed forces too. I don't think that the league is stupid enough to anger all of them at once.

You are just a countryside bumpkin who is trying to flaunt and show himself superior to everyone else. Do you think that the league would dismiss the graduates from the elite institutes and give them low-level orders like this? This is too much bragging from the both of you"

This was Dory who was flaring up. She was a legitimate graduate of 'Pokemon Tech school'. She had her pride. Red saying that she was just a low-level meat shield had touched her pride and it crossed the limit.

Everyone was now staring at Dory. They already knew that Axel had the personality to lose their temper and punish them. Dory didn't care about it. She was going to fight anyone if they touched her pride.

Red and Axel looked at her for some time. Everyone thought that she would now be punished but that was not the case. Red and Axel started to laugh holding their stomach. The laugh went on for a couple of minutes. Dory's face was red with anger and shame.

If Dory knew that she was talking to the former champion Red, she would have pissed her pants.

"Yes, I regard you as a meat shield and a waste of my time. I don't care if you are from some academy or whatnot.

You have some interesting subordinates, Axel. Do you have any other questions?"

Axel called Alakazam and told him to create a soundproof barrier. He didn't want others to disturb him again.

"Yes, can I use some of the new strategies that I have in mind? The military would not mind, would they?"

"Axel, you are the zone commander and it is your right and duty to do anything to survive. Remember you are sent there to learn about the harsh world and to survive. The military would not mind and if you have good results, they may even reward you for it.

If there are some mishaps, we would take care of them. You don't need to worry about it.", said Red.

"Yes, I saw Oak's Alakazam."

"Ohh, you recognized him. Yes, he was sent there so that nothing bad would happen to you. But remember Axel, he is only there to protect you, not your Pokemons. So tread carefully."

"Yes, I understand Red."

"Alright Axel. I would have to go. You can call me anytime if you need something.", said Red.

"Wait, I have to ask you something else."

"You have a lot of questions Axel. Ask up."

"I just learned about the reality of league just now. At first, I thought that everything was just white and black but now it seems that the league would just consider people as meat shields. I just don't know how this would affect me in the long run."

"Axel this is the real world. Everyone is on their own. The league acts like that cause it is not formed to babysit all the trainers and soldiers. It is there to protect mankind from extinction. You don't know the impact of a war Axel. You have only heard about the death counts in a Pokemon tide.

The Pokemon in a Pokemon Tide were very cruel. You would see your soldier's hands and feet ripped off by Pokemon, their intestines lying on the ground. It is not a sight that everyone could handle and the leader is the most affected.

Axel you are sent there to train your mentality. I would suggest that you meditate in your Aura cause you would be long gone if you don't.

Blue and I changed a lot after our first Pokemon tide a lot."

"Really? What happened?"

"Blue was much cheerful before. He was mischievous like Daisy right now. He is now cold, mature, and dark. That is what a tide does to you. You lose a sense of humanity after you experience your first tide. I have also changed a lot. I see my old pictures and get surprised. Was I really like this?

What I want to tell you is to keep your humanity. Remember that even if everyone dies on your troops you don't have to shoulder all the responsibilities. You still have your family, Oak, me, and Blue. Remember that."

"Thanks for the pep talk."

"It was my pleasure. I just told you what teacher told me before my tide."

"By the way, are you expecting a boy or a girl?"

"It is a boy. Alakazam just confirmed it."

"So, what are you going to name him?"

"We have not still decided it though."

"I think you should name it Ash. Ash Ketchum."

"Haha. That is a good name. I will think about it."
