Chapter 228 - League Meeting 1

A/N: Sorry for the late update. I have published 2 chapters today

"If you are so concerned about him, let me tell you. As of right now, he has 4 elemental ranked Pokemons, one of which is very experienced. He also has 2 rare-ranked Pokemon with him. He is the most powerful trainer in Burbos now, so you don't have to worry. So, tell me, with these many strong Pokemons, do you think he needs our protection?"

"No, if what you said is true then we don't need to be afraid. However, this would be his first Pokemon Tide. I just want to be sure that he is safe."

"That is why I would be sending my Alakazam to protect him. If there occurs any situation where his life is in danger, Alakazam would protect him.

I think it would be better for Axel to lead a Corp in the battle. It would be good practice for his leadership skill, handling crowds, mentality, and strategy. If things go south, Alakazam would handle things with its power.", said Oak.

Hearing this put all the people present here under serious thought but all of them agreed. They never mentioned the number of people who may lose their life if Axel gives a wrong command. For them, even the sacrifice of thousands wasn't anything great if the town could be preserved.

Although it may seem coldhearted, they felt that if the sacrifice of hundreds can help them create a champion-level trainer who would protect Kanto from internal and external threats for decades then it is affordable. The lost population could be overcome in a decade and all will be okay.

"But I don't think they will agree to do so easily. Even if we order them, they will behave like they followed our orders but will make Axel a puppet leader and someone else will govern things on the corp.", said Quivery.

"That is another reason why I am sending Alakazam there. It would make sure that they don't play tricks with us and he would be protected from danger in case things go south.", said Oak.

"What about the badlands?"

"I will have no further discussion about this topic. Axel Blaze would spend a month in the badlands before challenging the Champion or I will cancel his qualifications.

And you know I can do this. I would say again, don't judge a genius with the vision of average people, they are extraordinary. You would hamper his growth if you compare him to common people.

He faced me and lost badly. He didn't consider me an untouchable mountain. For him, I am just a steep hill difficult to scale but not impossible. So, don't ruin him with your care."

Everybody knew that Oak was on the verge of going mad. Oak had already given them the second warning so they kept quiet.

Axel started to walk towards the Pokemon center. All of his Pokemons were fine but he wanted them to be in optimal condition before the tide. There was a long line in the Pokemon center. The line must be a few hundred meters long.

Axel could see young trainers waiting in line. Some of them were nervous about the tide while some of them were excited to gain military merit.

Military merit was merit points that one would get serving their region. It could be used to exchange various types of resources and had a lot of benefits.

While the young trainers had mixed feelings, the old trainers were mostly sad and gloomy. They must have experienced similar tides to know about it in detail.

Axel went ahead of the line and the guard stopped him. He flashed his advanced trainer badge. The guard apologized to Axel and let him in.

"Hey, guard!! Why is that kid allowed to enter while we have to wait in line?", asked a young trainer.

"Yes, don't you know about equality?", said another.

Axel didn't concentrate on that argument and just went in. The nurses were busy checking the Pokemons. The cost of medical treatment was 50% of the original right now as they wanted to support the trainers for the tide.

The nurse took 30 minutes to examine all of Axel's Pokemon.

"All of your Pokemons are healthy and in their top condition. I would just recommend you to let them rest before the tide.", said the nurse.

"Thank you, nurse."

"No worries. May Arceus be in your favor.", said the nurse with utmost seriousness.

"May Arceus be in your favor too.", replied Axel.

It was a way of saying good luck when there was a Pokemon tide. It was common slang. Axel didn't know about it 2 hours ago but he had familiarized himself with it.

Axel nodded his head and came out of the Pokemon center. He would eat something before going inside the mayor's office again. The meeting was still not finished. They had to decide on a lot of things. Giving an authority of a zone to Axel was one of them.
