Chapter 169 - Hardwork

Everybody was relieved when Axel's Gyarados fell asleep. That could have turned out very badly. There were many stories where Gyarados had destroyed cities in their rage. Right now, Gyarados was in deep sleep and they did not need to worry about anything. The team was taking their well-deserved rest when suddenly another notification flashed in Axel's eyes.

-----

[Ding!

Bulbasaur's Sp. Def has been upgraded to A++

Ding!

Bulbasaur has met the condition of evolution

Ding!

Bulbasaur is evolving...]

-----

Everyone saw the evolution light from Bulbasaur and started to run in its direction.

"What the hell is happening today?", shouted Ryker. He just could not believe that 2 of Axel's Pokemon were evolving today. This guy was very lucky today.

The evolution didn't take much time like that of Gyarados and Shedinja. It was only for a couple of minutes when the evolution light turned off and….

"IVYY.. Ivyyysor…" came the sound.

-----

[Ding!

Congratulations! Bulbasaur has evolved into Ivysaur.]

------

Everyone saw a quadrupedal amphibian Pokemon that had blue-green skin with darker patches. On top of its head were pointed ears with black inside and it had narrow red eyes. It had a short rounded snout with a wide mouth and two pointed teeth in its upper jaw. It was Ivysaur.

Axel went near it and patted its head saying a job well done. Ivysaur was enjoying its master's patting. It was a blissful movement. After a short celebration and congratulation, the group decided to take a rest today.

"Axel, if you don't mind, can I ask you a question?", said Ryker.

"Of course. Shoot"

"How are almost all of your Pokemon evolving at the same time? I believe it is a bit too fast too. You started at the same time as we did. So how are you doing this?", Ryker asked a lot of questions.

The mood got silent and everyone was now staring at Axel. This was the question that everyone wanted to be answered. But none of them has the courage to ask it for 2 reasons.

1. It was disrespectful to ask about training plans with another trainer as they are their own secret.

2. And, if they do ask the question, it would be proof that Axel was a better trainer than them and none of them wanted to admit that.

However, Ryker had little patience so he asked Axel without a shred of dignity.

Axel looked at Ryker for 10 seconds straight. Though it was only 10 seconds, everyone felt that it was an eternity cause it was an awkward movement.

"Do you really want to know?", asked Axel.

"Yes, I really do", replied Ryker.

"You are not gonna like the answer."

"I don't care. I have to know if you don't mind."

"Okay. The reason why I am advancing faster than you guys is due to only one reason. I work harder than you guys."

The silence continued. Everyone thought that there was some new strategy or a new technique or a plan for all this. Nobody expected such a simple answer.

"But how is this possible? I admit that I don't work as hard as you do but there is not so much difference that the result of being so huge." replied Ryker.

"You misunderstand Ryker. From the day I gained a rational consciousness, I have never stopped thinking about Pokemon and how to be better at it. Each and every movement of my body and my mind is dedicated to being the most powerful trainer of all time. I can be proud and say that after I started my journey, except for the short celebrations like this one, every second are spent on my mind, body, and my Pokemons.

Can you confidently say that? By the lack of your reply, I could say that you cannot. So, don't go on saying that I got lucky or I was born with a golden spoon. I just worked hard for it."

Axel completed his little speech. Axel knew that it was not the only reason. The system also played a huge part in it. But Axel was not going to reveal his secret.

Every member of the team started to think about what Axel had said. They were considered to be the top of their generation and they had worked hard for it. But compared to Axel's explanation, they had done very little. They had worked hard and had followed their routine but they had also lived their life as a teen should.

After hearing Axel's reply none of them questioned Axel's progress. They had themselves to blame for it. Meanwhile, Axel was looking at the stats of Gyarados and Ivysaur. Axel had not given any enhancing items to Ivysaur as it was a 3 stage evolution Pokemon and this was its first evolution. So, it was not advised as it would be a burden for Bulbasaur to handle such items in the early stage.

Axel first went to Gyarados's status page and what he found surprised him…..
