Chapter 576 - Preparing for the Tide

"So, you giving us the same position that we usually monitor.", said Oliver.

"Yes, you guys are very familiar with the place and have been guarding it for a long time. You know the ins and outs of the place. So, you will be familiarizing with the zone commander and giving them critical information.

Alon and Kyla. Both of you will be crucial to our plan as both of you are ghost-type specialists. Clara is also a dark type specialist and you will be responsible for the night duty on the east side of the forest.

I have looked around and most of the powerful Pokemons of the west side are dark types and ghost types and they will be cooperating with us. All others will be on the south side.

We will be facing a lot of Pokemons from the south side. I will also assign other lieutenants to the team.

Now comes the traps. West and east sides had already been filled with proper traps but we still need a lot to do on the south side. Since, we normally, don't interfere in the south side, we have only made traps on the perimeter of the south side. It will take some time to do it.

I have assigned all the zone commanders from the mercenary cause they are stronger than you and they have more experience."

The soldiers of the city also nodded their heads. Axel was happy that they didn't have any problem with it.

"K, you will join as a lieutenant of the east side. Lance will be on the south side. Cody, I will assign you the side when I am confirmed about the location of the tier 3 king rank Pokemons."

Axel and Cody were the only ones who had tier 3 king rank Pokemons. Among them, Venusaur of Cody was more powerful than Slowemperor of Axel.

As of right now, they didn't know from where the tier 3 king rank Pokemons would attack. If it attacked from the east side and Cody and Axel were in the south side, then that would be a huge problem. So, just for the sake of not taking a huge risk, Axel told Cody to be in the center from now on and he would decide what to do in the future.

K was not put on the south side as this was the first time he was participating in the tide battle. So, he needed some initial experience. K had a pseudo-king rank Pokemon and it would be helpful in the east side too.

After talking for some time, he also said that he would mainly be on the south side. He also wanted to guide his Pokemons during the battle.

Frankly, it was an easy-tide battle. There were only 5k pseudo-king rank Pokemons to deal with and it was not a huge number. The mercenary alone had close to 50k pseudo-king rank Pokemons and they could comfortably deal with them.

The king rank Pokemons were a hassle to deal with but Axel knew that they would not attack at the same time. They might attack in groups and if only the south side faced the king rank Pokemons, then he was confident to win the tide with very less casualties.

Then he started to think about what his father had said. If he played his cards right, he could dominate the tide and win with very few losses.

"Sir, what types of Pokemons would we be facing? Can you also tell us the name of these Pokemons?", asked Hector as this was the most important detail needed.

"We will be facing 2 Arcanine who are in tier 3 king ranks. That I can be confirmed of. Other specific Pokemons on king rank status need time to get to.

Relating to other Pokemons, the biggest problem we will be facing would be relating to flying type Pokemons and ghost type Pokemons. This city has not faced a tide for 500 years. So, the ghost type Pokemons would be a problem. Since the previous leader was a force that we could not battle against, we could not interfere much in the south side in the past.

Other than flying type Pokemons and ghost type Pokemons, the Pokemons that we would have a problem dealing with would be fire type Pokemons and water type Pokemons.

The south side of the forest is connected to the sea. So, we will be facing water type Pokemon like Gyarados, Poliwrath, Golduck, Cloyster, and Vaporeon.

Since the city is not connected to the Johto region, we will only be facing Pokemons mostly from the Kanto region.

The previous leader of the south side of the forest was a fire-type Pokemon. So, I predict that we will be facing some strong fire type Pokemons.

Other type of Pokemons will be in a very less quantity and may not make any difference."

"Gyarados would be a problem to deal with.", said Kyla.

"Yes, they would be but don't worry. We will figure something out. We will just have to break our plans into simple pieces and then we will fulfill each one of them.

Now for flying type Pokemons, the most annoying would be

1. Pidgey line

2. Fearow line

3. Golbat line

4. And Butterfree line"

All of them would be problematic to deal with. We must have a strong electric type team to deal with both water type and flying type Pokemons.

Among the 4 of them, Pidgeot would be the hardest to deal with. It had the highest speed compared to all of the flying type Pokemons. It was also a normal type Pokemon but that didn't mean that it was weak. Another problem with Pidgeot was its numbers.

Unfortunately, Hakone city had a very high number of Pidgey line. Butterfree was also very hard to deal with its poison and sleep powders while Golbat also had its 'Confusion' and 'Hypnosis'.

For an entire day, they made plans, and just as Axel had said, they started to break them and now it seemed doable.

Axel now had around 330k Soldiers in Hakone city. These soldiers were not amateurs. Axel had trained soldiers of the city on:

1. Move comprehension

2. Ability and hidden ability and their importance.

3. A brief history of Pokemon, ancient Pokemon, legendary Pokemon, pseudo-legendary Pokemons.

4. Vitamins and type-enhancing items.

5. Body stats.

These soldiers now had good knowledge of how to deal with various types of wild Pokemons. These soldiers had also focused on training their own bodies to the limit. Liam was also a rare rank human which was very surprising.

On the other hand, the mercenaries were trained even more than that. Their training was very thorough and they also had a huge amount of experience in dealing with the tide. So, Axel was confident to win this tide and now he want to dominate it.

After the meeting was over, Axel called Hector to have a private meeting. He wanted to know the full details of the progress of his mercenary.

"Hector, how many of us are left to have a pseudo-king rank Pokemon?", asked Axel.

When their numbers increased to 50k, the requirement to have a mercenary team also changed. First, everyone of them must have an elemental rank Pokemons while now they must have at least 1 pseudo-king rank Pokemons.

The requirements for the lieutenants were actually lost. Now the lieutenant could control 10k soldiers under them each of them must have at least 3 pseudo-king rank Pokemons.

The leader of the mercenary team should have tier 3 king rank Pokemon and their savings should be in 1 trillion Poke dollars.

Now, the team had fulfilled all the conditions except for everyone having a pseudo-king rank Pokemon. At first Axel could not even believe it. He thought that it was a hoax.

"Hector, is the requirement really valid, or is the league just playing with us?", asked Axel.

"No sir, the requirement is really valid. But since the requirements are so harsh, I heard that there are only 3 teams in the entire world who have fulfilled such requirements."

"Ok, that is good to hear. Now, how many soldiers are left to have a pseudo-king rank Pokemon?"

"The numbers have decreased a lot and now only 153 of them are left to have a pseudo-king rank Pokemon."

"Really? How did you progress so fast?", asked Axel as he was surprised himself. Getting from elemental rank to pseudo-king rank would take some time and they had done it in a matter of 6 months. That was a huge progress.

"Sir, your training plans and the books have really helped us. We were also constantly fighting in the forest and had to deal with a lot of wild Pokemons."

"Ok, but don't put too much pressure on them and tell them to go easy. I don't want team members to tire out."

"Yes, I have kept that in mind."

"OK good. Now prepare for the tide. You know the drill. Take control of the soldiers and make them obey. You are handling the position of the zone commander for the first time. So, be prepared."

###

3 weeks were left before the start of the tide. That was a lot of time to prepare and Axel was going to take full advantage of it. He was cursing himself for letting Steelix and Gyarados train on the Aues island. That was one king rank Pokemon and one pseudo-king rank Pokemon.

Due to the nature of the island, Axel could not go there to pick them up and had to wait for 4 months.

In these 3 weeks, he wanted to increase the power of his Pokemons. 3 weeks was less time to accomplish something big but it was enough for his new Pokemons. Axel had a talent that would raise Pokemon's powers and mastery if they were serious in their training.

This talent was especially active until the Pokemon reached elemental rank. So, his new Pokemons could really benefit from it a lot. In these 3 weeks, he was really going to totally concentrate on his new Pokemons.

He wanted at least one of them to reach rare rank till the tide was over. Since the tide had only 3 million Pokemons, it might be over soon but he knew that it might take a month to complete. Axe would later realize that he was very wrong.

###

The first thing he did was to contact Cody and request him to train Slowemperor with his Venusaur. Both of them would be crucial for the tide as they would be facing tier 3 king rank Pokemons.

Axel knew that Slowemperor had ranked up very fast and it needed a lot of time to consolidate its power. He also knew that such a thing would not be possible within 3 weeks but it could improve.

"Slowemperor, you are the first Pokemon to reach tier 3 in my team. I would like to give you a nickname."

Slowemperor was not as excited as Pidgeot but it agreed to a name.

"Your name will be Magnus from now on.", declared Axel, and Slowemperor looked happy with that name.

He wanted to name it on the concept of emperor and Magnus was the best name he could come up with.

"Now Magnus, for 3 weeks, I want you to concentrate on your ability 'Monarch', your passive move 'Frost giant', and most importantly, your illusion-type moves. I want your illusion-type moves to be effected in a large area. I know I am asking a lot from you but you should give it a try."

"Don't worry, Axel. I will try to do it."

"Now, you will also have an ice-type core. You can now have 2 cores and having an ice-type core would be beneficial to you.

Beedrill will also join you. It can also have 2 cores and now it would also have poison type core."
