Chapter 336 - Gym Battle- Morgan takes the Field

"Both Pokémon are unable to battle. Gym leader Morgan is requested to come on stage. Both the gym leader and the challenger are requested to send their next Pokémon," said Ronny.

It was declared that Golbat had fainted after being frozen. Axel had not expected Mamoswine to make it a draw. He had thought to send his next Pokémon after Mamoswine used its full power, 'Blizzard.' It seems luck was on his side.

The crowd went ballistic. It was very rare to see a challenger dominating a gym leader. The battles had too many highs and too many lows.

"That was a good battle, Axel. Your experience is higher in dealing with Pokémon battles, and your Pokémon are stronger. You deserve to have this soul badge, but you know our deal. You have to defeat Morgan too. If you lose, you won't get anything," said Koga.

Axel nodded his head. Morgan was stretching and getting ready for battle. Axel needed to defeat two of Morgan's Pokémon, and he would get both the soul badge and thunder badge.

"The gym leader is requested to send his Pokémon first," said Ronny.

"Are you ready, Kiddo?" asked Morgan.

"I was born ready. Bring it on," said Axel in a proud voice.

"Ha... Arrogance, but I know you can back it up. Let's start the battle," said Morgan and threw a master ball.

It was a robotic Pokémon, a combination of three Magnemite. Each individual Magnemite had a gray spherical body with a single eye and a gray and red-and-blue tipped horseshoe magnet on each side. The topmost Magnemite had three Phillips head screws on its body, while the others appeared to have only two.

It was Magneton.

The final evolution of Magnemite was Magnezone. It was a powerful Pokémon with a base stat total of 535 in the game. Unfortunately, its fully evolved form had not yet been discovered.

There were two ways to evolve Magneton into Magnezone in games. One was to use a thunder stone, but it was obviously not possible in real life. The second was to level up in a place with a strong magnetic field.

The second way may not have been tested. Axel didn't know, but a Pokémon would not level up in real life. So, there must be some additional conditions to fulfill.

Magneton could not only use electric powers but also magnet power, so it could utilize electromagnetic waves. Axel looked at its stats:

---

'What the hell is this?' shouted Axel in his mind. This was an overpowered Pokémon. There were five new moves: 'Electromagnetic terrain,' 'Electromagnetic wave,' 'Magnet healing,' 'Gravity manipulation,' and 'Electromagnetic construct.'

Axel couldn't understand how a pseudo-king rank Pokémon could have five new moves. He tried his best to think about how this was possible.

'So, 'Electromagnetic terrain' is from 'Electric terrain,' and 'Electromagnetic wave' is from 'Thunder wave.' It is well-versed in magnet powers. And how could a magnet heal?' thought Axel.

"Mr. Axel, do you need some time?" asked Ronny as Axel was not responding.

"Yes, give me 20 seconds," requested Axel.

He didn't know how he was going to defeat this thing. He didn't want to use Shedinja in this fight, but it seems that he had to. Shedinja is immune to electric and magnetic powers. It was also immune to psychic powers, so gravity manipulation would not hurt it.

But it could still get paralyzed. So, which Pokémon should he use?

Nidorino knew some ground-type moves, and Magneton was weak to it, but Gogoat was resistant to electric-type moves.

After thinking for some time, he chose, "Let's finish this, Gogoat."

Gogoat appeared, and now it was ready to battle.

Gogoat was resistant to electric types. Axel wanted it to injure Magneton as much as possible, and then he would use Nidorino to finish the battle. If Magneton was not injured much, he would have to use Shedinja.

Shedinja was his trump card, and it had greatly powered up. So, he didn't want to use it in this gym battle.

"Ohh, so you're selecting a safer option. I won't blame you," said Morgan.

He had spent a lot of money and time on this Magneton. It was the strongest pseudo-king rank Pokémon on his team. He wanted to see the look on Axel's face after his Magneton decimated Axel's Pokémon.

"Are both of you ready?" asked Ronny.

Morgan nodded his head, but Axel didn't. He took out another master ball and threw it in the air.

It was Alakazam.

Everyone was confused. Why was Axel taking out another Pokémon?

"Challenger Axel, can you tell me the reason for taking out another Pokémon?"

"Is it against the rules?"

"No, it's not, but I want to know the reason."

"I want to send Alakazam next, so I want him to get ready. That is all."

Ronny didn't believe Axel, but there was nothing he could do. Morgan didn't mind it.

'Light, tell Gogoat that this Pokémon is very strong. It's not something we can win easily. So, tell it to be careful and dodge as many attacks as possible. Also, tell it to start with 'Field control,' 'Grassy terrain,' and 'Sunny day.'"

This was the reason he called Alakazam out. It could use Telepathy and become a mediator between Axel and Gogoat. Axel didn't want Morgan to know about his plan.

"Challenger Axel, are you ready now?"

"Yes, I am."

"Alright, then let the battle begin!!!"
