Chapter 243 - Ghost Type Pokemon

The 10th day went in a flash. There were already some wild Pokemons attacking the walls. Axel's soldiers were good at dealing with them. With the help of traps and a new strategy, it became easier for them to fight.

Finally, the day of the tide came.

Axel was in his room with the previous 8 members of this troop.

"Hector, are all the traps working?"

"Yes sir, we are ready to battle."

"Good. I want all of you to tell me if there are any problems or any new situations. It is a war, not a battle, so we must strategize well.

May the Arceus be in our favor."

"May the Arceus be in our favor." (X8)

###

It had been 3 days since the start of the tide. Axel had not personally participated in the tide. He had been busy communicating with all his troops. He would get various reports on the death of his troops. So far, 500 soldiers had died in his zone.

Hector, Troy, and Sam were ecstatic.

"Sir, our plan had worked really well. We have only lost around 500 troops in the tide till now.", said Hector.

"That is still not enough. How are we doing on elemental rank Pokemons?", asked Axel.

"None has been spotted but we estimate that we would be facing around 20 elemental-ranked Pokemons in this tide.", reported Hector.

The initial estimate was around 10 elemental rank Pokemons for the north base. However, due to the massive rise in the tide number, the estimate has been increased to 20.

It was not that Axel was not helping. His Pokemons were fighting in the tide. However, not all of his Pokemons were fighting. Alakazam was sitting near Axel in case of an emergency. Shedinja, Beedrill, and Nidorino fought with much larger breaks. They had to deal with elemental-rank Pokemons at some point. Axel wanted his elemental rank Pokemons to be ready for battle.

Ivysaur and Charizard were the MVPs of the tide. Charizard had the type advantage and its firepower had been trained well. Ivysaur was the healer of the team. With the use of its 'Leech vine' it was able to heal its ally which had been valuable in the tide.

"How are we dealing with the night attacks?"

"So far we have not been good with it. We have very few ghost and dark type Pokemons."

Among the 500 deaths, 400 were at night. Axel had to admit that they were not good in night attacks. The night attacks mainly consisted of ghost-type Pokemons. Around 99% of the Pokemons at night were ghost-type Pokemons.

Ghost-type Pokemons were tricky to deal with. Almost all of them were immune to normal type attacks and physical moves. The powers of ghost-type moves were also boosted at night.

"I would take participate in the battle at night.", said Axel.

"Sir, I think you should wait. We have very less casualties in this tide."

"No. The morale of the troops is important. If we started to lose a lot at night then the morale would go down. Handle things for me now Hector. I would rest for a while.", said Axel.

Axel had not slept for 2 days. The deaths of his troops were in his hand. They were his responsibility. Their deaths were haunting him in his dreams.

His mental health was not good.

For the night tide, he decided to use, Shedinja, Ivysaur and Charizard. Most of them were tired while fighting on day time. They needed proper rest.

###

"Marcus, Ivysaur, Charizard. Tonight we would slay as many Ghost-type Pokemons as we can. I am joining the battle today."

Axel had not let his Pokemon fight at night. It was dangerous and he had not personally participated. He didn't want to risk his Pokemons life but tonight he was fighting with them.

Axel looked at the reports again. The north base was facing around 250,000 Pokemons. Among them, only 50,000 Pokemons would attack at night. The troops had dealt 10,000 of those Pokemons and tonight he was going to slay as much as he could.

He selected the place where the ghost Pokemons were concentrated the most.

Ghost type were weak to ghost and dark type. Shedinja was also a ghost-type Pokemon. So, its 'Shadow ball' would be effective. However, it would also be affected by ghost-type attacks. That was why he added Ivysaur and Charmeleon for support.

"Marcus, use 'Agility', 'Harden' and 'Substitute'"

"Ivysaur, use 'Growth', 'Sunny day' and 'Substitute'"

"Charizard, use 'Sunny day' and 'Dragon dance'"

Support-type moves were important in the tide. They would change the flow of the tide. Axel told them to use those moves as much as they could. Ivysaur had just learned 'Growth' during the tide. It had helped it a lot.

It would increase the attack and sp. Attk. and would have better effects during harsh sunlight.

2 small balls of sun merged together and the dark instantly disappeared. It was 'Sunny day'. The use of 2 'Sunny day' was very helpful. It would help Ivysaur in 'Growth' and Charizard with its fire type moves. Though it was night, it was effective.

Shedinja's 'Substitute' was so advanced that it could now create 2 of them.

Axel could see a lot of Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, and Misdreavus. There were some Sableye and Bantee too but they were very rare. Due to the use of 'Sunny day', the ghost-type Pokemons didn't have anywhere to hide.

"Marcus, use 'Shadow sneak' and 'Shadow ball'"

"Ivysaur, use 'Leech vine'"

Shedinja started to use 'Shadow sneak', 'Shadow jump', and 'Shadow ball'. Since it was an elemental rank Pokemons and most of the enemies were only in rare rank, it was having an easy time dealing with them. It was so fast that those Pokemons could barely react.

Meanwhile, Ivysaur used 2 Leech seeds on 2 different Pokemons. The seed was planted on Gengar and Misdreavus. Suddenly a vine spread out from those seeds and it connected to Shedinja. The vine was thin and seemed to be unbreakable. No matter how much they tried, Gengar and Misdreavus didn't seem to get rid of it.

The use of Substitute had lowered Shedinja's health. However, the vine seemed to be restoring it.

"Ivysaur, now use 'Synthesis'."
