Chapter 1 - Prologue

Volleys of arrows hailed down from the deep azure, one a never-ending repeat.

I swung the thick sword to parry the opposing enemy and lunged forward, running the blade through two opponents and cutting down another.

'…Don't fall.'

Today won't be Secretia's last!

A new enemy rushed forward, brandishing his sword with precise skill.

I blocked it.

"I remember you," the enemy said," What's your name?"

"I don't remember."

I don't.

I'm only a sword that serves King Oros.

The enemy maneuvered his weapon expertly and shattered my blade.

"That sword… it's Chase's Auro. I've always longed to see it."

I did not answer. I swung the hilt at him and he did not care to avoid my attack and shot a spear of ice instead.

I was unable to dodge.

Puuk!

I hear the sound of life thrumming in my ears. It was becoming difficult to breath.

"I am the army commander of Caillis Magic Division, Arden Hertz. I'll remember you, Prince Bern of Secretia. You've fought valiantly."

I lifted my eyes and stared into the distance.

I can hear the sound of my life thrumming in my ears.

It's becoming difficult to breath.

"I am the army commander of Caillis Magic Division, Arsen Hertz. I will remember you, Prince Bern of Secretia. You've fought valiantly."

I lifted my eyes and stared into the distance.

"Your Majesty… Elder Brother… I tried…"

"Rest."

I see the light…

I will die…

That was the last vestige memory left.

I opened my eyes to ten-some years ago.

As to who I am… I am inside the body of the Third Prince, Calian, from the Kingdom of Kailis – the same kingdom that destroyed my own country, Secretia.

Calian was a weak prince whose bloodline descended from dragons. He was a timid boy and had little influence in the court and lacked the ability to protect himself.

He spent much of his life in seclusion.

At the end, he was assassinated before the age of fifteen.

This was the future that awaits me.

"What will you do now?" the image of Calian in the mirror looks back at me and asks.

"Naturally," I answered, "I have to live."
