"Hello pumpkin "
" Dad! , how are you? " he chuckled
" I'm good sweetie. Your mom said you're sick. Are you okay now?"
"I'm fine Dad".
"I'm so sorry I'm not there for you, trust me if I could, I would. I love you so much sweetie"
"I love you too Dad"
"I'll try to come home soon. No promises though. Bye pumpkin"
"Bye Dad, see you soon". I put my phone in my pocket, took my chem notebook and shut my locker. After I left Adrian on Monday, I stayed in my room till he left with Jeannie. I feel bad trust me. it wasn't easy for me to say just that one word. It's Wednesday now and I still haven't heard from him. Not that I was expecting him to try to talk to me after what happened though. I sighed and made my way to Jeannie's locker.
"Hey girl" I said pulling her in for a hug.
" Hey you too. So... do you want to hang out after school? You don't have to if you don't want to. I mean_"
" I'll come"
"Great! I'll see you later then" she turned to go. "yeah Uhmm, about monday_"
"Don't. Please" she opened her mouth to say something but closed it again, nodded and left. I groaned and leaned on her locker. I'm being a shitty friend for no reason at all.
" Trouble in paradise?" Great. Just fucking great.
" What do you want Woods?"
" Are you okay?" Wait what? I was taken a back by his sudden question and turned to look at him to know if he was playing at something. I saw concern, care and ...pity? I scoffed and let out a short laugh.
" I don't need your pity Bryan"
" I didn't ask you that out of pity. When are you going to see that I actually care?"he frowned.
"We'll pardon me for not believing you. Guess who was mean to me at first... you. Now you're acting all nice and you expect me to believe you?" I scoffed again. " You're so full of shit Bryan" with that, I left for my class. I was late.
BRYAN'S POV
" I don't need your pity Bryan" she said
"I didn't ask you that out of pity. When are you going to see that I actually care? "
" Well pardon me for not believing you. Guess who was mean to me at first...you. Now you're acting all nice and you expect me to believe you?" I scoffed again. " You're so full of shit Bryan" She left. I stood there like an idiot watching her retreating figure. Alone in the hallway with my jaw tightened and my fists clenching and unclenching. I hit my fist and it hurt like a bitch. Frustrated, I pulled my hair and made my way to the parking lot.
I'm done chasing her.
ALISHA'S POV
After Chemistry (which was boring), I went to my locker and caught up with Jeannie before we left to Macdonald's. Hey! it's our favourite place so don't judge me for going there all the damn time. After ordering, we had them put in a take-out and went to the park. This park had so many memories of Adrian, Jeannie and I in it. Like that one time Adrian fell from a tree beside the lake and then we decided to carve our names on it to make him feel better or the time I accidentally tumbled over on the jangle over and landed on my butt or the time we played tag and Jeannie tripped on her own legs and fell in a puddle of dirty water...eww. I smiled at the memories as they flooded my mind and Jeannie noticed it.
" What's got you smiling ?" She smiled at me with a raised eyebrow.
" Nothing. Just good ol' memories" she groaned and face-palmed herself.
" Please don't remind me of them" I laughed out lout and she joined in.
" You've got to admit, they were really fun"
" Yeah yeah whatever now can we find a spot so we can munch on these goodies?"
"Foodie" I called her and ran
" Hey!" she shouted and ran after me.
Let's just say we didn't get to eat the food.
Jeannie kept moaning about the food until we got home and now I'm sprawled out on my bed like a starfish just thinking about everything and anything. I sat up on my bed, grabbed a hair tie from my nightstand and pulled my hair into a scruffy ponytail. It was 7:45pm and mom was going to be home soon so I decided to make dinner. I went into the kitchen, took out the frozen chicken and steamed it before adding some spices in it. I boiled some rice and stewed it up a a bit. qi didn't know what exactly I was making but I knew it was going to turn out great. After cooking the rice, it had a reddish-gold colour and it was delicious. I finger-chopped the chicken into tiny bits and sprayed them all over the rice. Just as I put the rice in the oven Mom came back. Talk about perfect timing.
" Hey baby" she cooed kissing my hair.
" Hi Mom. How was work?" I hugged her before taking her handbag from her.
"Ugh Natalie just wouldn't let me be! That girl is such a bitch!" she complained as she plopped down on a kitchen stool.
"Wait" se turned to me sniffing around like a dog "Did you make dinner?" I shrugged my shoulders and went to the living room to keep her bag then, went back to the kitchen.
"I did" she started choking on the water she was drinking. I rolled my eyes and went to the oven to get the food.
"Mom can you stop being such a drama queen and help me with the dishes. I'm not trying to poison you. I can cook"
"Okay" She squeaked and placed the dishes on the table. I scooped some rice and put then in her place before putting in mine. I filled the glasses with orange juice before sitting to eat.
" Hmm" she moaned nodding her head as she ate her first spoon. " it does taste nice".
