Chapter 6 - 6: The one where he's worried

"کسی سے محبت کرنے سے پہلے اپنے دل کو قبرستان بنا لو تاکہ اُسکی چھوٹی چھوٹی غلطیوں کو دفنا سکو" - حضرت علی

Before loving someone, Make a cemetery in your heart so that you can bury their small mistakes in it- Hazrat Ali (R.A)

It had been a week since their nikkah and Hayat was still not over the fact that she was someone's wife. Not to forget the fact that Azlaan sent chocolates and flowers every day.

They would talk the whole night, well it was mostly consisted of Hayat talking or complaining to Azlaan. Either it would be Hayat's mother scolding her to learn how to cook.

That night Hayat told Azlaan that she can't cook on which he laughed.

"I want a wife, Not a servant. You won't have to cook jan" (life) He had said.

Azlaan knew by now that his wife was very childish and innocent. For the first time, someone could control his anger.

One day he had a fight with his father about work, even his mother couldn't calm him down. He had then called Hayat who was, as usual, sleeping.

"Hello" she said.

"Talk to me" His voice was hoarse like he was controlling himself.

She had somehow managed to calm him down and talked some sense into him, the next morning he had apologized to his mother and even to his father.

The husband and wife were shook as their arrogant son had admitted to misbehaving with them.

"Hayat, Waleed is here and he wants to take you to a festival" Bibi Ayesha informed Hayat.

Waleed was Hayat's cousin, They were good friends and would spend time together but since Hayat's nikkah, she had distanced herself from her male cousins as she was told by Azlaan to do so.

Hayat came downstairs and Waleed was indeed waiting for her.

"Chalein mohtarma?" ( Shall we go? ) Waleed asked sarcastically.

Hayat rolled her eyes and excused herself so that she can call Azlaan.

"Hello" He had picked up on the first ring.

"Asalam o Alaikum, Azlaan"

"Walaikum Asalam, jee?" (Yes) He replied, it seemed like he was just waiting for her to call him.

"Waleed is here to pick me up, he wants to take me to a festival" Hayat slowly spoke.

Azlaan took a deep breath, "Aur kon kon saath jaa raha hai?" ( Who else is going with you guys? )

"Saare cousins jaa rhe hain" (All the cousins are going ) Hayat replied.

"Okay, Just come back home safely" he spoke from the other side.

"Okay Khuda Hafiz" Hayat was about to hang up when Azlaan spoke,

"Hayat, forgetting something?"

"No, I am not forgetting anything" Hayat was confused as what she had forgotten.

"I am your husband, And it's your duty to say something to me before you hang up" Azlaan explained.

Hayat blushed as she had understood what he was saying, he wanted her to say those three words but she wouldn't as she wasn't sure if she had fallen in love yet.

"Hubby jee, Apko sabar krna parega" (you will have to wait hubby) Hayat giggled and cut the call.

On the other side, Azlaan couldn't stop himself from grinning but he was surely getting possessive, he didn't wanted his wife to go with another male.

He had managed to busy himself in work.

*******

When it was past 12, Azlaan got worried as Hayat would surely call him to tell him that she had reached him safely.

Did she forget?

Is she okay?

Azlaan dialed her number but Hayat's phone was powered off.

This was high time, he picked up his car keys and drove to Ibraheem's mansion.

When he reached their, everybody seemed tense.

"What's the matter?" His authoritative voice echoed through out the lounge area.

Ibraheem wasn't able to meet Azlaan's eyes.

Azlaan's blood was boiling, nobody was speaking anything.

"Koi kuch bolega?!" (Will someone speak something?) He shouted.

"Hayat hasn't returned yet, Waleed isn't picking up his phone"

Azlaan's temper had reached the seventh sky, He stormed out of the house.

He dialed his private investigator's number and every person who could help him right now in this situation.

He wanted to tear the whole world apart and find his wife.

"I want her found!" Azlaan shouted at his phone.

Mirza Ali saw his son, pacing around the house frustrated.

It had been an hour and Azlaan didn't get any comforting news when his phone rang, without looking at the contact, he picked up.

"Hello" He was tired and his voice also said so.

"Azlaan" It was Hayat, It was like his body came back to life.

"Hayat, where are you?!" Azlaan couldn't keep in his frustration, anger and fear.

"Waleed's car broke down in the middle of nowhere, there weren't any signals over here so I couldn't inform you" Hayat spoke.

"Hayat, I asked a question. Where are you right now?" His teeth were gritted.

Hayat handed the phone to Waleed and he told Azlaan the place where they were.

********

It was a very quiet and heavy night, The clouds were crying too. Small droplets of water falling down in this cold night, Silence everywhere.

Hayat was standing in the middle of the road when a car stopped at a distance, it made a screeching noice. Azlaan got out of the car and ran towards Hayat.

He pulled her in a bone crushing hug, like his life depended on it.

"Why do you always manage to get yourself lost?" Azlaan questioned and Hayat just smiled at his words.

"Because I know my husband will find me no matter what" Hayat said.

Azlaan was holding her face in his hands, brown clashing with hazel.

"Ainda aisa kiya na toh tumhari jan le lunga" (If you do this again, I will take away your life). Azlaan threatened Hayat and she just chuckled at him.

"Let's go home" Hayat said to Azlaan.
