Chapter 3 - Chapter four: unexpected visitors

The exam week moved quickly and I was relieved that I didn't need to stay up late studying anymore. I'd seen Kyson around campus but neither one of us, dared to talk to the other, our pride wouldn't let us. Gianna was practically gloating right infront of me like she had won a million gold pieces.

I slowly walked back to the dorms after attending a 3 hour lecture. It was a Friday afternoon and not having any plans I decided I'd just take a nap for the rest of the day

When I closed the door and turned around to the face the room, I was startled to see Ian, in casual clothes sitting on my bed, one hand resting on his knee.

"Sorry," He inched off the bed. "I didn't mean to startle you, your roommate, Cleo let me in."

She was rarely around so I figured she had just come to pick up some more clothes.

"It's fine, just don't make a habit of it. " I shrugged my bag off my shoulders. "So what brings you here?"

He stood up to his full height and if I hadn't said it before, this man was unbelievably handsome. He stalked over to me and stopped when there were inches apart separating us.

The back of his hand brushed up and down my upper arm. "I thought I'd take my beautiful fianceé out for lunch."

I sucked in a breath, not knowing what was more distracting, his touch or his mere presence. Stepping back I cleared my throat and folded my arms across my chest.

"If this is going to work, we're going to need some boundaries."

When he touched me, I wasn't capable of thinking rationally.

"Boundaries?" He echoed, "Fair enough, lay them down for me."

I clasped my hands together and walked to the other end of the room. "Okay, first, you can't touch me without my permission and secondly you have to let me know before you decide to come see me."

He walked up to me, hands in his pockets, taking one stride at a time. I thought he'd stop when we were feet apart but he kept aproaching until he had backed up against the wall with nowhere to go.

He leaned in, his breath fanning my neck. "I respect you and therefore I'll respect your boundaries as well," his lips lingered on the spot between my shoulder and neck, "but mark my words,Adalia, one of these days you'll be begging me to touch you."

And with that he backed away, I released a breath I wasn't aware that I was holding. He looked me up and down like he was proud of the reaction he got from me.

Stay strong, Adalia

Smirking, he made his way over to the door and when his hand was on the door knob he turned back to face me.

"I'll be waiting downstairs, by the parking lot next to the library. Wear something snazzy." He threw me a wink before leaving and closing the door behind him.

Huffing out of frustration, I threw myself onto the bed. Seriously who did he think he was? I had to put him in his place that was for sure.

Shuffling through my messy wardrobe, I decided to pick the skimpiest, most revealing dress I owned. Knowing he wouldn't approve of my outfit I knew I was on the right track. If Ian thought I'd just dance to the tune of his music then he had another thing coming.

Okay, so when I decided to dress like a hooker I didn't bear in mind that I'd have to walk halfway through campus where I would inevitably pass the football field. Guys being guys they whistled and cat called me all the while I tried to pull the dress down to cover more of my body. One even went as far as asking, 'how much?' and to which I responded by flipping him the infamous finger.

I was trying to embarrass Ian but somehow I ended up embarrassing myself.Shaking the thought of my head I continued walking until I spotted Ian busily typing away on his phone. He was leaning against a black Range Rover sport, two guys in black suits and dark shades stood beside him.

Ian tore his gaze away from his phone and when his eyes landed on my outfit, he grimaced and clenched his jaw. Without saying a word he reached into the car and grabbed something and walked up to me.

"Do you like defying me, Adalia?" His tone was clipped, as he roughly placed a black blazer over my shoulders,it swallowed me and made me feel ten times smaller.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." I said innocently, batting my long lashes at him.

He balled up his fists and whispered something in one of the man's ear, he nodded and got into the drivers seat and the other man followed shortly and entered the passenger side.

"In." He commanded, opening the car door and then stretched out his other hand for me to hold as I climbed in.

I did a once over at his hand, deciding whether I should take it or not and decided against it. The plan was to make him despise me and that I was.

"I'm capable of getting into a car on my own." A look of hurt flashed across his face as his teeth grazed his top lip while he nodded.

I felt guilty for a brief moment and then I reminded myself of the the bigger picture. My liberation depended on this plan.

The majority of the ride, Ian was busy talking on the phone with his clients and words like 'gross profit' and 'profit margin' were thrown around. I had taken business as a subject in highschool so I had a clue on what he was talking about.

He got off the phone and switched it off. "Emphraim, remember we're stopping by that woman's clothing boutique on binx street," he adressed the man in the drivers seat.

"Yes, sir." Emphraim looked at him through the mirror before returning his gaze onto the road.

Confused as to why we were stopping by a clothes boutique, I decided to ask, "Why are we stopping there?"

He scoffed and looked at me like I had grown a horn on my head.

"To get you clothes, what you're wearing doesn't exactly qualify as clothes," He drummed his fingers on his knee, "no way in hell am I letting you walk about in that, you're my fianceé, I don't want other man ogling you."

I sat up in my chair as the car came to a halt. Feeling more agitated as the seconds passed.

"No! You don't get to do that, I'm not some object,Ian. You're not entitled to my body. You don't own me."

He chose to ignore me and came over to my side of the car to open the door, "Let's go."

I folded my arms across my chest, in protest and remained steadstill. "I'm not going, I like what I'm wearing."

He leaned against the car door and said with a malicious voice, "So here's what's going to happen you're going to get your pretty little behind out of this car right this moment or I swear to god, I will drag you out myself."

Minutes passed and I didn't budge, I was holding my ground. Words could not intimidate me and I knew a man like Ian with a reputation to keep wouldn't try anything of that sort.

"Very well then," He stepped forward and just like he said, he yanked me by my arm and threw across his shoulder with no effort.

I was kicking and struggling for him to put me down but all it did was drive my dress further up my body so I stopped struggling and waited until he willingly put me down. The workers, giggled and gossiped amongst themselves and I felt a blush creep onto my cheeks.

He was acting like a caveman!

Hours of searching through dresses passed until he found a dress that he deemed as appropriate and although I offered to pay for it he acted like he didn't hear me and proceeded to pay for it. What ticked me off was when he purchased all of the other dresses I had tried on, I didn't like being treated like a charity case and that's exactly how we he was treating me. I had more than enough clothes in my wardrobe and If I wished to add on to those I could.

As the cashier packed all the dresses into different bags, I seized it as an opportunity to talk to Ian.

"I don't like you spending your money on me and was it really necessary to purchase the rest of the dresses? They're not even my taste."

His lips thinned into a straight line as he looked down at me. "A thank you would have been nice and what's wrong with wanting to spoil my fianceé?"

"On paper we might be engaged but-" He put up a finger to stop me from talking as he made a phone call.

"Emphraim," He spoke confidently into the phone, "have Rhys meet me by the entrance to help us with the bags. Yes that will be all."

Interwining his fingers through mine, he pulled us towards the entrance. He didn't even give me time to process what he had just done.
