Chapter 1 - 9/11

On September 11, 2001, thousands of lives ended within a few hours, all because of the orders of one man. Hundreds of thousands of families were affected, all because of the hate of one man. Millions of lives were changed, all because of the evil of one man.

On September 11, 2001,almost three thousand people died inside the world trade centers. Over six thousand were injured. Over two hundred and fifty people died on the planes. Over three hundred and forty firefighters and seventy law enforcement officers died. Other countries lost citizens in the attacks. All because of the evil of one man.

The attacks of 9/11 changed the world, changed lives, and ended them. It had a bigger impact than one can truly understand. There were people inside of those buildings, working to support their families. They never went home to their loved ones because of the evil of one man and the others who chose to follow in his footsteps.

There were people in those buildings. Living, breathing, feeling people. The evil, the pain, all of the horror they went through- and they didn't deserve any of it. They were innocent. There was no reason for their deaths. They were like everyone else.

They woke up every morning, cooked breakfast. They dropped their kids off at school, they talked to a neighbor. They bought a cup of coffee from their favorite cafe, and they greeted their coworkers like they always did. They didn't know of the danger they were in, of the things about to happen only hours later.

Families lost mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters. Aunts and uncles, grandparents, nieces and nephews. Best friends and former classmates. Their lives were destroyed because of the evil in the world and the constant lack of love between each other that should come naturally- but is clouded by the greed, the hate, the constant demand for power and popularity.

The desire to be superior ends lives everyday. LGBTQ+ hate, racism, discrimination and bullying. This was the mass display of all of the daily hate thrown at people who didn't deserve it. If we don't stop fighting, if we keep showing hate instead of love, being violent against others who don't deserve it, history will repeat itself. Everyday, more innocent people die because of the overpowering hate of the world.

We weren't designed to fight, to hate, to hurt each other. We are one of the most intelligent species on this planet, yet basic insects have better morals than us. There is no reason for the evil you find everywhere, no reason that those people had to die in 9/11. When we bleed, the blood is always red. When we cry, the tears always burn. When we hate, the words always hurt. No matter who you are, you are just like everyone else.

Everyone should be equal. We shouldn't hate because of looks, we should truly appreciate the beauty of diversity. The power of love and friendship is stronger than any gun or law.

"Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Martin Luther King, Jr.

When you remember the people who passed away on 9/11, and you celebrate their lives, make sure to remember to push for greatness, push for love, so we can live without the burden of these innocent people dying in vain - spread love, not hate.
