"What do you want?" Zack asked
"Zack do you remember when you were younger, and you were upset because everyone else had powers and you did not?" I asked
"Of course," he said with a roll of his eyes
"Do you remember who you talked to about that?" I asked calmly
"It was Cas" he paused "and...and you" he was starting to look confused [good I can work with confusion, just stay calm Zack] I thought
"That is right. Do you remember why you and Cas ended up coming to me?"
"Because...because" Zack was starting to get frustrated that he could not remember
"You don't know because Cas never told you." I paused to let him calm down and let him realize what I said, "you came to me because Cas was worried that because she had powers early on that she could not help you."
"But you always said it was because you heard us talking" Zack was slowly getting more confused.
"That was partially true, you see, Cas had another power that she only told me about. She was able to read thoughts and communicate telepathically."
"WHAT?!? Wh-why did she never tell me?" He turned to me with tears in his eyes and rolling down his cheek.
"She liked keeping certain things to herself. Those were the things she would tell me, otherwise, if she kept a secret too long even if it just how she feels, then her power would go haywire and everyone in the area would know about it in two seconds."
"Oh, so she kept to herself on purpose. But she told me that you all made her feel like an outcast." Zack was back to being confused
"Well she was not lying to you when she told you that. She would tell me about this as well, out parents and brothers would treat her differently because of how smart she was, and the fact that we did not was what drew her to us."
"I probably should go apologize to Ben and Dan, shouldn't I."
"Yes, you should but wait until morning, you have had enough emotional exercise for today. You should also join us in our brother's day." I said with a smile and giving him a much needed hug.
By the time we walked back home it was getting dark so I sent Zack to bed, he had not moved that much in a while so he was both physically and emotionally exhausted. After Zack had gone to bed I informed Ben and Dan that Zack would be joining us for brother's day, I did not tell them what we talked about.
"You are kidding right? He was ready to attack us if we said the wrong word earlier!" Dan protested
"Dan," Ben cool as ever "Zack had been bottling up those emotions, for what I am assuming to be years."
"What are you talking about? He had been talking to Cas all his life about all of this!"
"How would you know?" I asked
"I just do! How would you know if I was wrong?!"
After that outburst I stood up fighting the tears in my eyes and the lump in the back of my throat. "I know because he was lying when he said he talked to Cas about it."
There was a morbid silence for a moment.
"H-how do you know?" Ben was now fighting back tears of his own.
I then explained Cas's secret power.
"Why did she never talk to either of us about any of this?" Dan asked
"Because you already treated her differently because she was smarter, she did not want you to think that she accomplished all that she did by cheating."
"We would never do that." Dan was shocked
"That was how she felt." After another pause "So we will have our brother's day tomorrow." I said
"But I thought Zack had to be back in school by tomorrow?" Ben asked
"Yes, but I can have mom call the school and tell them he is sick or something." I said
"Do you think she will?" Dan asked
"Absolutely!" I said with a mischievous grin
"Should we be worried?" Dan whispered to Ben
"You can if you want I am going to bed." Ben replied
After they had gone to bed, I set my plan into motion. Operation Brother's Day finally would commence!
