Chereads / Sara Alves Toldler And The Battle Of Evil / Chapter 28 - SHOULD WE TELL?

Chapter 28 - SHOULD WE TELL?

"Seems that, Miss. Sara Alves is deep in thoughts."- I heard Chris say and flinched from my trance. I shrugged and leaned against the chair on which I was. She held a packet of chips on one hand and was munching a few. She pulled a chair beside my study table and sat down, crunching her chips noisily.

"Who is it about? Abin? Huh?"- She asked wriggling her eyebrows teasingly. My eyes-widened and I shook my head vigorously.

"Now where did he come from, huh?"- I questioned back.

"Oh, c'mon... Sara I am not blind. I see things."- She said in a teasing tone. This got me uncomfortable as I averted my gaze away from her and tried to focus on the real stuff I was thinking about.

"Dude... Lately I've been thinking..."-Well there she went, not allowing me to finish my sentence.

"Dude exams are over, it is almost year-end, and for god's sake there are no peculiar incidents happening, and still you are thinking. Sara, just chill. We'll do the thinking stuffs later."- She said, patting my shoulder with her wrists and offering me her chips. I snatch the packet away from and quickly walk over to my bed. A groan issued from her.

"That's the thing, right... Don't you feel suspicious when there are no terrifying stuffs, no dreams and no blackies? I feel, something bad is going to come over. Something that might harm the whole school."- I said quietly. Chris stared at me for a few minutes and then walked over and sat beside me.

"Did you contact your Minicole?"- She asked still gazing at me. I shook my head.

"I can't. It isn't working."- I added. Chris didn't ask anything, so I decided to open up the thing that I had been carrying on my mind for what felt like ages.

"Chris, don't you think we must say about this to Mr Alaric. All these things are happening in his school. So it is only fair he comes to know about it, right?"- I asked doubtfully, unsure about how Chris would react to this.

She looked as though her jaw had dropped to the floor. Her big eyes widened to resemble dinner plates. A moment she froze in this position, the next moment she placed her hands on my shoulders and looked into my eyes. It was as though she was trying to support me. As though she agreed with my thought. I looked back at her, glad for her constant support. But it took me no more than I second to take back all my thoughts. With no warning she started shaking me so hard.

"Did you hit your head somewhere?"- She asked a lot of concern pouring in through her words... I looked at her irritatedly and said.

"Chris. I am not kidding."- I said in a strict manner. She withdrew her hands from my shoulders and shot me a look.

"You are crazy."- She stated and started munching on the chips.

"Not more than you."- I snapped back, to which she shook her head in disbelief.

"Dude, that's not possible. You go to him, tell him about all these stuffs, and then he believes you..... No way."- She said destroying all the confidence I had about that matter.

"But, isn't it worth a try?"- I asked again.

"What is worth a try?"- Said anther voice and both of us turned to find the source of the same. There came in Ann, carrying few large and very-very heavy looking books. She kept the books on her study table and adjusted her skirt slightly and looked at us.

"What're you guys talking about?"- She repeated and started examining the pile of books.

I exchanged looks with Chris who mouthed.

"What are those for?"

"I don't know."- I replied to her back in the same way.

"Oi... Now what are these for? We are already done with the exams, right?"- Chris asked.

Ann chuckled and replied.

"Idiot, these are for next year. Mr. Dave had given these for future reference."

"Ohh."- Both Chris and me replied.

"Well, now tell me...what were you guys talking about?"- She asked. Before I could tell anything else, Chris launched herself into a huge elaboration of my dumb brain.

I sighed, when finally she was done telling all the possible things about me. Ann looked at Chris ad back at me like she had just seen a tarantula.

"Ann... I was thinking about telling all these things to Mr Alaric."- I said. Ann just stared at me. And, Chris shook her head as thought she was fed-up of me.

"But, do you think...uhm, he will believe us?"- She asked. Well, I wasn't sure about that, though,

"But how long will we keep this hidden from him, from the whole school?"- I asked. Ann nodded her head agreeing that I had a point. But Chris was still being stubborn and oblivious to my words.

"Well, then let's ask Father Candido, about it."- Chris said, finally.

"That's right, Sara. We'll ask him."- Ann supported. Even, I felt that was the most convenient way to take the decision.

"Okay, we-"- But before I could say anything more, Flores walked in and announced.

"Sara, you have a call. Mrs Ruberin is asking for you." I got up and walked out of our room and into the corridor.

'Aunt Mary had informed me that she wouldn't call me till the next week. Then who was it?'- I wondered.

I stood next to Mrs Ruberin.

"Sara Alves?"- She asked. I nodded. She gave the telephone to me and gestured to talk.

"Hello?"- I spoke, hoping to here uncle John's voice. But my expectations were proved wrong when a deep and quite elderly but jovial voice greeted me.

"Good evening Sara." I recognized it to be Father Candido's voice.

"Good evening, Father."- I greeted him back.

"You have to tell everything to Mr Alaric."- He spoke, suddenly his tone turned serious. It left an impact on me.

"How did he know about this?"- It was more astounding when he continued.

"Make it fast and try to convince him the best way, Sara. And convey my regards to your friends."- He said. I was shocked to an extent that I opened my mouth to reply but ended up humming a 'yes'. The next moment the line was cut, but I still held it near my ear, thinking hard.

"How does he know everything? Is he watching over us? God, why does it feel so weird?"- But my thoughts were interrupted by Mrs Ruberin.

"Are you done, child?"- She asked impatiently to which I nodded. She took back the telephone and I headed back to my room.

I was met by Chris and Ann to whom I explained everything. Both Chris and Ann gave the same reaction as mine. Chris spoke nothing else that night and left to sleep. Ann on the other hand, patted me on my shoulder, gave me an assuring look, which somehow relieved a part of me, and she too left for sleep. Lavinia and Flores were already asleep, which left me lying on the bed, eyes wide-open.
