My hand automatically move to hold my left cheek where my Grandfather had hit it with his hand. He looks frighteningly furious with his eyes looking bloodshot.
This is wrong. It shouldn't be like this.
"Don't ever show your face in front of me, imbecile!"
Grandpa's voice roared inside the room as Grandmother firmly grasps his arm to hold him back. I scornfully averted my gaze at my cousin, Tranquil who's looking smug with a smirk plastered on her plastic looking face. She's the reason why I'm in this kind of tough position, she's the reason why I'm gonna be kicked out of the family.
"Send her overseas. I want this woman out of my sight."
"Right away, Mr. Gremory"
Mr. Hanzo, Grandfather's personal aide, made me stood up, I got my bag and turn my back and brush his hands off my shoulders "I can walk on my own" I said as I walk towards the front door of the mansion. I didn't look back but I'm definitely sure that Tranquil, including her parents are satisfied with me being kicked out of the family, it only means that there's less competition in the power struggle in this family now that I'm expelled.
It's my fault anyway. If I didn't fell for Tranquil's schemes then I won't be put in this kind of situation. I guess it's only right that Grandfather made this kind of decision as per my punishment. There would be no point to talk it over and over again but what's bothering me is who I slept with last night... My memory from last night is not clear and it's hazy and fogy, the last thing I remember is Tranquil giving me a glass of wine.
I was too naive to believe that she'd change and what she gave me was normal wine. It's drugged. The main reason why I committed such a dumb mistake. There's enough cash in my wallet so I decided to ride a taxi to get to my best friend's house.
She's the only person I can lean on right now. I could use my car too but I've made up my mind. Grandpa expelled me from that family and the money which bought my car was from them, I have no reasons to keep on using it and the least I could do to express that I've accepted his decision completely is to leave everything I received from them except for the credit card that my late parents left me.
I received this from Mr. Ethan Cross last three years, he said he was a close friend of both my parents, he was entrusted with the card to give it to me once I reach the age of 18. He said my parents earn the money through their own business and work without any affairs and connections relating to the Gremory Family.
The money in this credit card should be enough to get me by once I arrive overseas.
I payed the taxi driver before hopping off the car, my best friend lives in her own condo unit since she wanted to be independent or so she says. I rang the doorbell and waited for the door to open as my head hang low, "Cix, are you okay?"
I lift my own face a bit so I can look at Vrianna straight in her eyes, she looks genuinely worried since I don't normally visit her with this kind of gloomy and lonely aura, "I'm fine..." I desperately tried to hold back my tears as I weakly hug Vri, as if finding comfort through being wrapped around he arms.
"I have you here with me, right?"
"And me too"
"Count me in"
When I pulled back from the hug, I was surprised to see Viona and Azure inside Vrianna's condo unit. Pumasok na kami sa loob as the two goofball went over the kitchen to get me water. Well, I have to admit that I'm more surprised to see the both of them here.
Vio is mostly and always at Pennsylvania because of her parents and she rarely comes home, as for Azu, he goes around the world for fun or so he says, he's the type of person who can't stand to stay in one place so I'm a bit curious why they are here.
"They got worried about you when the news about the power struggle surrounding the Gremory Household met it's end even without announcing a formal heir or heiress spread throughout the whole internet like wildfire"
Oh. I get it now. But that news was fake, hell would freeze even before that happens, almost all the members of the household are thirsty for money and power, the battle has not yet started, in my opinion, it'll start once Grandpa and Grandma weakens due to their old age but that's far from happening, they are both still quite strong unless someone makes a move though.
"So, ano na namang ginawa ng bruhilda mong pinsan?" Vio handed me a glass of water which I accepted before expressing my thanks.
"She schemed me so now I'm expelled from the family, I'm not affected as much as I thought I'd be though."
That's right. I wasn't affected that much since all I've ever wanted was to escape from that family ever since my parents died. My current obstacle right now is how I'd survive alone... However, it should work out, my friends are here after all.
"Amputcha to, english ng english, my bleed is nosing!" I let out a little laugh after Azu's remark. I'm completely aware that he's just trying to lighten up the mood but it really doesn't suit him since siraulo siya kadalasan, he's weird but an aloof goofball who always got our back whenever we need it.
"Bunganga mo Azure!" Vri threw the nearest object beside her to Azu which he caught smoothly before making a mocking face in order to piss Vrianna off, "Anong plano mo ngayon?"
My plan huh... I'll do what Grandpa wants, I'll go overseas, I'll eventually come back here but it'll depend on the upcoming circumstances and situations so I'm not that sure. I'll find a job there since I can't just rely on the money left by my parents, it's meant to run out and I obviously can't borrow from my friends even though they insist, the mere fact that they are here is enough for me. I don't want to take advantage of the situation.
We all have our own life and problems, even though my friends are rich on their own, to borrow money from them is a bit too much.
"I'm moving to Seattle. Start a new life there and the rest is up to fate"
"Great. I'm planning to move there too, sabay na tayo umalis, I'm free whenever you want" I gave Vio a tight smile.
Of course she's just saying that on a complete whim. Sa Pennsylvania siya nakatira kadalasan or if ever she plans to move out of there, it'll definitely be in Canada. She's just saying that out of concern for me, that's just how she is.
"Ayos, makalipat na nga din don, alis na tayo bukas ah"
"You don't get to decide, fudging asshole"
"Hoy masakit!" Azu whines like a kid while Vri starts pulling his left ear before pinching his sides. This two will never really get along, it's like putting oil and water together even though you know they're not a perfect match for each other.
"I'll book our tickets, sama ka, Vri?" Vri can survive anywhere because she have her own 'secret' ways, Vio and her are cousins so I guess she'll tag along? I'm not sure. She's not really fond of traveling because of her extreme motion sickness.
"It's settled then, you all can stay in my house in Seattle. I don't use it that often anyway. I'll pick you three up tomorrow, 4 pm. I have some things to do so I'll go out for a while"
Azu was like a different person as he talks about all that while typing something in his phone. It's like his alter ego was the one speaking for him, it's not really rare for him to act like that but we all just find it weird, it seems that his work mode is on so we didn't bother to ask where he's going.
The day after that, we left for our flight when noon came, I left all my things in Grandpa's mansion except for my wallet, my phone and myself. I don't have my passport with me but Azure took care of everything like the necessary documents and got me a new passport, it was actually amazing since he got it done in a matter of just few hours since it'll normally take days. Awesome.
I stare at the view from above inside the plane over the window. I'm leaving for good, not because my grandparents kicked me out but because it's for the better, I'm finally freed from the power struggle of the Gremory Household. I don't care what will happen to them, I've escaped the war and I have no plans of diving back in that damned chaotic battlefield.
