"You don't have to ever worry about him. He's going to be in jail for a very long time; I can assure you of that. And after he serves his time here, he will have to face a bit more jail time for his crimes back in Mexico." Gideon explains on the line in Danny's phone as I sit on his desk and he sits on his chair. It's been a few weeks since his capture, and I was glad that justice was finally on our side.
I couldn't sleep much last night, and today, I have been pacing back and forth, thinking of what's going on with Stacy. I hadn't talked to her in a few days, but I was glad to know Nico had stayed with her and her dad, helping her and ensuring she was ok.
Gideon was on top of the case, and he assured us that we never had to worry about him again. He was facing long years in jail without parole.
Still, no matter how much I pondered, I couldn't comprehend how Trevor got her address. He had never gone with me to visit her, and I doubt she was dumb enough to let him know where she lived.
I sighed in relief. Danny smiles, winking at me and grabbing the phone off his desk. "Alright, buddy. Thanks so much. We'll talk later.
"No problem. And again, thanks for all your help, Dan. Take care, guys."
"Bye," we say before Danny hangs up.
"See? I told you I'd take care of his ass, baby." Danny says, standing and going around to hug me.
I wrap my arms, sigh deeply, and place my head against his torso, hugging him tightly. "Thank you, Danny. But I'm still mad at you for putting Stacy in danger." I say, smacking his arm and making him chuckle.
"Fair enough. How about an early lunch for my pregnant wife, huh? What are you in the mood for this afternoon?" he asks, glistening at my eyes. My lips curled into a happy smile. "How about we go to your restaurant? I'm dying to try your new menu. Plus, I'm craving a slice of tiramisu so bad." I said with a bright smile as I salivated for the coffee-infused goodness.
Since we found out I was expecting, Danny has forbidden me coffee intakes me. I don't mind, though. Danny is the coffee addict here, but I'm more of the fruit-infused waters and iced tea kind of girl. The only ones I can't live without are my morning milk teas.
Danny chuckles, tightening his hold on me and kissing the top of my head. "Anything my queen wants, she gets. Let's get out of here, baby," he says as he pulls away, holds my hand, and walks us out of his office.
I've been working hard to finish my designs, and I am almost done. I'm so happy with the outcome, and I can't wait for Hugo to see them. The only one I have shown my designs to is Danny, of course. He loves them, and he is the only one who noticed that I draw a hidden ladybug in each of my designs.
This way, if anything happens to them or I misplace them, he'll be able to tell it's my designs by that hidden gem.
"Wait, I haven't closed my office; my designs are in there," I say, pulling back a little. He looks toward my office and sees the place around us empty. Everyone was probably downstairs in Hugo's office and helping at the new daycare.
It's almost done, and the ladies took it upon themselves to help furnish and decorate it.
"It's fine, Ladybug. I'm sure nothing will happen to them. Come on, let's head out." I was a bit worried, but maybe he was right. I doubt anything will happen to my files. So we headed out to his restaurant.
We were greeted with big smiles, which I loved. I was tired of seeing Tasha's long face at work. Danny had to make room for the daycare, which meant that all the girls were placed in temporary offices across from my office and Danny's. That only meant one thing, Sasha's office was right across from mine.
Did I like it? No. But I was being a good sport and dealt with it.
We ate our food peacefully, laughed, joked around, and had much fun. It reminded me of when we were younger and would have much fun hanging out. Just the two of us, falling in love with each other but scared to say it. Little did I know that he had a crush on me too.
By the end, he had ordered two extra slices of tiramisu so I could take them home and indulge in them later on.
He left a hefty tip for the waiter who helped us, and we returned to work.
"I am so stuffed. I feel like I'm going to pop." I said as I grabbed my stomach, taking the elevator up to my office.
Danny chuckles, wrapping his arm around my shoulders and kissing my neck. "Just wait until your stomach grows. Then you'll feel like you can roll everywhere instead of walking." He says making me pout.
But truthfully- I really am looking forward to it. They're I thought about it, the more I felt my little butterfly move inside my stomach, the more excited I feel.
I can't wait for my next appointment. To see the baby develop and start moving about, inside my stomach.
I wonder whether it will be a girl, or a boy? What will the baby look like? Will he or she have my eyes? Danny's eyes? His hair or mine?
Will Zoey get along with the baby?
Gosh, I have so many questions. But all in its due time.
For now, all I wanted was to indulge this moment, allowing Danny to hold me, and feel his love.
Nothing could ruin my day.
