[Some days later.]
Yasuo was sitting down, napping against the wall.
Meanwhile in the background, Lee was sweeping the floors.
Yasuo looked at him. "Oh yeah... Lee?"
"Hm? What is it, Master?" Lee replied, pausing from his chores.
"Don't you have a place to stay?"
"Not really, I usually reside temporarily nearby wherever I happen to be studying."
"Ah. Well you can stay here I guess. It's pretty lonely in here anyway, and it's not much."
Lee bowed. "I will repay this act of kindness to you someday!"
Yasuo waved it off. "Don't worry about it."
There was a commotion outside. A crowd of people were walking together, going somewhere.
Yasuo looked out the window. "What's going on?"
"You don't know? Today is the day that the daughter of the Head of the Emperor Jade Family is marrying off to Yang Chen of the Morning Lotus Family."
Yasuo jumped up. "What?! That's today?! No!!"
Lee looked at him dumbfoundedly. "What's the issue?"
"Everything!! Yun can't marry that guy! Besides, after she gets married, they'll kill her!"
Lee kept a neutral expression. "Well, yeah, that is the point of the ceremony."
Yasuo grabbed Lee by the collar. "Yun is my friend. I won't let them kill her!"
"But it's been decided by fate already... even the Emperor said so. I was there."
Lee remembered back to when he visited the Emperor. "I was called to the Emperor's palace to make a healing elixir for the Lord's Oracle. She was dying, but she could still predict the future. Lord Fang asked her if any major disasters were to fall on Liu in the near future. In the faces of the elites of the Emperor Jade Sect, she told the Lord that Xiao Yun would die along with the dragon Vekyrtr. In other words, there would be no disaster, because of Miss Yun's great sacrifice."
Yasuo frowned. "I don't care what that old lady said. I can't let Yun die."
"But Lord Fang's Oracle has never been wrong before. She is a hundred percent accurate. Fate is fate I'm afraid."
"No. Fate is an illusion."
Yasuo thought to himself, "Even in my previous life, the human race blew themselves to extinction. There could've been a way to avoid that. There are infinite possibilities, which makes infinite timelines. There has to be a timeline in this world in which Yun lives!"
Yasuo ran outside.
Lee chased after him. "At least wait for me!"
-
Yasuo followed behind the sea of people. They left the city limits and kept going into an open field of grass. There, the wedding ceremony was already set up.
Yasuo stood in the rear of the crowd with his arms crossed, waiting impatiently. "Something's not right... why is everyone so happy like this is a good thing?"
Yang Chen stood next to Xiao Yun on a pedestal. They were dressed up for the occasion.
Chen had on a soft smile. He looked at Yun with dreamy eyes.
Yasuo grit his teeth. "Look at him, pretending like he wants her. I don't buy it. Soul Recon."
fwoosh!
Yasuo looked around him with 360 degree vision, all by sensing his surroundings.
Far behind him, back inside of Liu, a man cloaked in black was crouched down on top of a tall building with a long blow dart at his mouth. He was aiming at Yun.
Yasuo turned around. "Found you."
Lee finally caught up. "Ah... Master. You really... run fast. Did I miss anything?"
Yasuo vanished.
Lee stared blankly. "Wha... huh?!"
-
Yasuo quickly teleported next to the assassin. "Hey. What do you think you're doing?"
The man stood up, ready to run away, but Yasuo wasn't playing any games.
poom!
He sent a left-legged kick into his gut. The man was knocked unconscious, falling on his face.
Yasuo picked up the blowdart and inspected the needle. "Analyze."
In front of Yasuo's eyes, appeared a list of information about the dart. "It's a lethal poison... so Yun and Lee were telling the truth. They plan on killing her. But still..." He looked at the unconscious assassin. "I knocked him out in one hit. But this isn't the time for that."
fwoosh!
Yasuo teleported again.
He reappeared in the same spot from earlier.
Lee was surprised to see him. "Master...! Where did you just go?"
"Don't worry about it. Just keep a lookout for any shady business."
Sitting down in one of the red thrones to the left of the pedestal was Yi Fang. His sight narrowed in on Yasuo. "What is he doing here...?" he thought.
Some time passed, and it was time for Chen and Yun to kiss.
Yun tried to turn away slightly, but Chen grabbed her chin and straightened it out.
The Head of the Morning Lotus Family, Yang Po, sat next to the Emperor with a satisfied smirk on his face. "History will be made today."
Chen, holding Yun's chin, went for the kiss.
fwoosh! wham!
Yasuo got on top of the pedestal and punched Chen in his side with an underhanded fist.
Chen was thrown off the pedestal and into the grass.
Yang Po stood up. "What is the meaning of this?!"
Fang stood up, fists clenched. "YASUO!!!"
His voice boomed, drowning out the concerned voices of the audience.
Yasuo looked at him.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!! HAVE YOU ANY IDEA OF THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS MARRIAGE?!!!"
"Yeah. And I don't care. If Yun has to die, then it isn't worth it."
Yun grabbed Yasuo's shirt. "Yasuo!! Why are you doing this?! You're ruining everything!!"
Yasuo smiled. "Because I like you. I don't want you to die. So I'll do anything to stop that from happening."
Po pointed his finger. "Yun's death is already set in stone boy!! She will die today for the sake of Liu!!"
Chen sat up, grimacing. He managed a smile. "Heh, it's too late now... she's about to be shot full of poison in no less than ten seconds from now...!" he thought to himself.
Ten seconds passed.
Fang looked toward the city and frowned.
Chen's smile dropped. "W-What... where is the assassin?!"
"Oh him?" Yasuo turned back to look at Chen. "I took care of him already."
Po started glowing with orange soul force. "You cheeky brat!! Fine, I'll kill her myself!"
fwoom!
He darted at Yun.
Yasuo got in front of Yun faster than the eye could see. He casually blocked Po's attack with one arm.
Everyone was in shock.
Lee adjusted his glasses. "I can't believe it...! Yang Po is a cultivator of the Grandmaster Profound Realm! Which means Yasuo must be at least..."
Emperor Fang's eyes widened. "That kid's a Grandmaster!!"
Po jumped back. "Impossible...!"
Yun teared up. "Yasuo..."
A glowing jolt of purple pulsed through her entire body. She screamed as she doubled over on her knees, and then rolled to her side. A purple glow was coming from her belly.
"Yun!! What's wrong?!" Yasuo asked.
Po growled. "You idiot!! Yun's seal is coming undone!! She must be killed this instant!!"
Yasuo faced Po and outstretched his arms. "Nobody is touching her!!"
Fang suddenly had his elbow deep into Yasuo's gut. "This isn't the time to be selfish kid!!"
Yasuo was blown away from the force.
Fang looked down at Yun. "You have to die!!"
fwoosh!
He sent his arm down at her, covered in red soul force.
Yun turned stomach-up as she screamed out painfully, arching her back as a violet shockwave blasted from her body, blowing everyone back fifty feet.
Yasuo, bleeding from the mouth, sat up. "Yun..."
The sky grew dark.
Lightning struck in the background.
With another scream from Yun, a bright pillar of violet light boomed into the air.
Fang looked up at the light. "Damn it...!! I was too late!!"
The light started to widen, taking the form of a monstrous beast.
It had dark-violet scaly skin. Two large lizard-like legs stomped to the ground, each foot having three shiny giant silver claws. It grew two arms that also had three claws. A gigantic tail smashed the ground behind it, causing an earthquake. Then a wide, muscular neck formed, followed by the head of the dragon, with three rows of sharp, metallic teeth. The eyes on either side of its head opened, showing a red-outlined yellow iris with the sharp pupil of a dragon.
Then, eight more arms grew out of the flesh on its back, along with sharp silver scales going down the spine to the end of its tail.
It lifted its massive head and roared, its very scream shaking the ground it stood on.
Yasuo shielded himself from the wind pressure. "So this is the Dragon of Destruction and Chaos... Vekyrtr!!"
